Updated: Today we had our treatment which was pretty intensive. I was very impressed by the approach used and how they were able to keep my daughter (age 5) relaxed throughout. She was obviously very nervous coming in as she was afraid of "the drill"! The entire process went smoothly. Dr. Sheikh was skilled and very gentle. He explained everything to me fully before he got started so there were no surprises. The assistants Pritika and Breana were also sweet, patient, and very reassuring through the process. I was able to sit by and keep my hand and eyes on my daughter the whole time. She handled it like a champ and hardly flinched! Everything about this office is great for kids. The coin machines at the end are great. Thank you for making a scary day much easier for our girl! Today was our first visit and consult for our 2 little ones, ages 5 and 2. I was very impressed by how calm the kids were through the process thanks to very sweet, patient staff and dentists. It was scary for the 5 year old to learn that she would need a treatment, but overall, it was a very positive experience for both of them. Please do not go here. My daughter is 2 years old and had her second visit here. I was told she had multiple cavities and needed to get a root canal done. Mind you, SHE IS 2 and I take better care of her than myself. I tried to convey my confusions and tried to get some reassurance and got nothing other than call this number to get her sedated to fix the issue and made me feel like a shit parent. Got a second opinion at another dentist and told me she had nothing wrong with her. They either gave me the wrong x rays or tampered with it. All they want is a cash grab and want you out of there quick. I don't know how this place is open. Staff were somewhat nice at least. read more

Giving this place 0 stars if I could. I wanted to switch to something closer than the dentist we were going to so I chose this place and regret taking my daughter there. The dentist accidentally stabbed the inside of my daughter's gum while checking for cavities, which she's still hurting from today. My daughter always does well at the dentist I usually take her to and doesn't fuss but here she was screaming bloody murder. They were hurting her, they said they numbed her but she said she could feel everything and was in pain. She cried the whole way home and was very traumatized. Never again. read more

My son went in and took my granddaughter for her recare appointment. mind you my son has a PPO and Dentical. I tried to explain to the Manager that when you have these insurance together they cannot charge Deductible or copayments. I was just trying to educate her on how it works. My son went in for a routine cleaning and it took them 3 1/2 hours. I think they forgot about my son but they said no they did four x-rays on him which I did not approve of. Book the next appointment because it's too hard to find a dentist but I'm currently looking for another one and they had the nerve to call me to tell me that they don't take kids over 12 now although my son's been coming there since he was 12. I love this place! We've been coming here for years now, but today especially was a really good experience for my son the dentist & the assistant were so good with my son who is also on the spectrum they talked to him the whole time and made him feel comfortable & safe. The assistant was very comforting holding my sons hand and they both were just making sure he was okay & letting him know what they were doing every step of the way. If I could give 0 stars I would. This place is a joke. My daughter had an appointment at 2:30 for an extraction... They took her back for an xray. We waited more. Took her back to the room, waited more, dr looked at her teeth, said ya we can do it. You gotta wait at least another 30 minutes... they did not start on my daughter's teeth until 4:45.. they should dedicate a day or two out of the week for extractions/oral surgery instead of having you book an appointment and be told ehhh yeah I guess we can do it today. I don't like to give bad reviews to business itself. But they do not have very good professionals at this location. First I have to disclose my son's diagnose because it is health related. They take us to a room, the girl doesn't say anything, she comes back and throw the X-ray vest on my 19mo and gives me one. He freaks out, haven't seen her ever, she never talked to him. And I ask her, is this for X-ray? She is oh yeah, then she gets the X-ray and try to put in my son's mouth, doesn't explain anything or say anything, she has no idea how to deal with people, I don't think she should be working with kids. Anyway we go to another room and the doctor says hi and I start talking that my sons problem and he interrupts me and tells his diagnose and I am like, he has yeah but that is not my concern, my concern is his teeth. we lay him down and the doctor aggressively brushed his teeth and said he had 2 cavities and the only thing they do is that black thing and said he will refer him to another place because they don't treat kids there. Idk what they do there then! We go to the other dentist on the next day and they called for the referral and Kidz dental said they took X-rays and they would send them to the dentist. I thing to my myself, they don't even have the right record, they may treat your kid with the wrong record. New Dentist sees my son's teeth and he has one small cavity. Long story short, I took him there because I thought would be fun. It may be fun as a first experience, but not for us. read more

This offices wait time is insane! Just for a basic cleaning check up we are always waiting for at least 2 hours. The lobby is always full of people so I don't know if they just double book or what. There is always a ton of staff walking/standing around. I don't understand why the wait is so long. read more

Brought my son here, horrible and unsanitary! First of all we had waiting about 35 mins just for someone to come in the room after waiting the dentist came in, put on globes and literally started touching everything. She was touching the computer, the mouse, pen and paper, even pulled her hair back, and then told my son to open his mouth and stick her fingers in there. HUGE HUGE NO!!! She didn't even change out her gloves. So damn unsanitary!!!! I was furious!! Then the assistant that cleaned my sons teeth, didn't even floss them!! DONT COME HERE UNLESS YOU LOVE BEING AT DENTIST ALL DAY! I have took my sons here about 4 times and every time you can except to wait 1 hour and 15 minutes in the room for someone to come help. Checking in is fine and getting a treatment room is pretty fast. But waiting in the treatment room is just awful. Besides the wait, male doctor and male assistant does not acknowledge families. They'll walk in the room, won't say anything, then leave. If you're going to have long wait times at least have good customer service and tell tamiles you'll be right with them! read more

Our children were patients here but we just had a horrible experience. We have always gone back with our children and then we were told we no longer could both go back and that it had been policy for a long time. However, we had just had a recent appointment in which we both were allowed to go back. After this the technician asked my wife to step out of the room for X-rays which she has never done with our 4 year old. We always receive an extra vest and stay with our daughter. After explaining this the workers were rude, threw the materials loudly on the tray in the room and then one technician said if we weren't happy she could "give you a dismissal letter". The employees (not all but three) were disrespectful, rude and were not focused on providing customer service or creating a positive environment for us and our child. I called and spoke with the manager who informed us that we should have been allowed to stay during X-rays and that there was a policy about two people going back and that she was sorry it had never been implemented with us before. She informed us she would be doing a retraining but with technicians and customer service representatives like we experienced we decided to move on to a new pediatric dentist. If you're looking for a friendly and family oriented environment and a place where you feel your child is safe I would look elsewhere. read more

I use to like taking my boys here, but definitely will start looking for a new dentists appointment at 4pm for a filling...didn't even start it until 5:30. Why schedule an appointment if patient won't be seen for 90 minutes. Not the first time this has happened there. only gets 3 stars because the employees are very nice and great with kids and they do cute decor and have Netflix for the kids to watch during cleaning. I would give this place a "0" star rating if possible. Let me first tell you, their customers service is horrible! They have sent my 10 year old son to a recommended dentist office due to having a root canal that they couldn't do themselves and that is understandable. Upon arrival, the documents was not filled out correctly by Modesto Kidz Dental and was seen for future orthodontist. We came back to Modesto Kidz Dental to explain, they sent us to Fresno which is a 2.2hr drive to another recommended Dentist and was told that they were not able to do the work due to his size teeth. The dentist office in Fresno was confused why Modesto Kidz Dental even sent us here when we could've found a local place in Modesto for this. Over all, I would recommend anyone who loves their kid and appreciate your time, DO NOT COME HERE. HAVE A GREAT DAY EVERYONE AND GO AT YOUR OWN RISK. I've brought my daughter here a few times.. and wasn't completely satisfied with this practice but not entirely unhappy either. Decided to bring her bck today Jan.18th as she needed a cleaning and a few extractions. As someone mentioned below they always suggest cleaning and a later appointment for extractions which is odd. Anywho took about 40 mins to see dentist she came in examined for maybe. 3 mins.. told me to schedule for the other work needed and she was going to do a cleaning. She LITERALLY cleaned my daughters teeth for all of 2 mins!!!!!! I kid you not!!! Being the adult I am Now in healing. I politely told them ABSOLUTELY NOT!! I will not sign anything regarding treatment UNTIL my child's teeth were PROPERLY CLEANED. Because I'm sure that bill would be hefty. BEWARE OF THEIR DIAGNOSIS- THEY RECOMMENDED ROOT CANALS WHEN HE NEEDED REPLACEMENT FILLINGS!!!! UNPROFESSIONAL OFFICE!! ***after readings other reviews, seems like they enjoy performing root canals since they recommend them so often*** On June 29th I took my 7-year-old son for his 6-month cleaning at Modesto Kidz Dental- my son had been a patient here for about 2 years and has received treatment from them in the past. This review is solely based on our visit on June 29, 2020. Due to Covid-19 my son was to go to the back room by himself which I did not question nor hesitate because my son has always had great experiences with them.... HUGE MISTAKE. Presumably at the end of his cleaning a staff member came out and very nonchalantly said "he needs 2 baby root canals and has cavities." I said that I needed to speak with the dentist, and I was then allowed to go back. My son was crouched in the chair and was NOTICEABLEY UNCOMFORTABLE. I asked for them to check out another concern that I had about his teeth but the dentist went on to say "we tried but he didn't let us"......this was ridiculous... so they weren't going to clean his teeth if I hadn't asked. My son started crying and covering his face... they are a pediatric dental office THEY SHOULD KNOW HOW TO MAKE CHILDREN COMFORTABLE!!! They didn't even try to distract him by turning on the TV until I asked- my son was fully cooperative once he was a little distracted. They dentist insisted that he needed 2 baby root canals, which are silver teeth. I asked to see the x-rays and asked for teeth #'s because I wanted to get a 2nd opinion but I was told I would need to sign a release form. When I did turn in the release form at the end of the visit, I spoke with the assistant office manager. I let her know that my son has never cried at the dentist before and that they made no attempt to comfort him or notify me, she said that if they continue treatment on him and if he refuses again that they will have to refer him to a specialist which will sedate him- I was just appalled by her response.... Who says this about a little boy who is scared? He wasn't screaming and kicking- he just covered his face with his shirt and cried because he was nervous which would not have happened if they had tried to console him or had me go back there. Unhappy with their diagnosis and their treatment towards my son, I took him for a 2nd opinion at Kids Dental Care in Turlock. I explained to them the horrible service we had received at Modesto Kidz Dental and the diagnosis that he had been given. They examined his teeth and took x-rays and their diagnosis was totally different.... turns out my son only needs one filling and needs to have fillings replaced that fell out. The dentist at Kids Dental Care in Turlock had no idea why they would have recommended that he get 2 root canals. I am just astounded and beyond belief as to how extreme Modesto Kidz Dental was. Modesto Kidz Dental's staff is rude, incompassionate, and unprofessional. I am glad that I took my son for a 2nd opinion at a much better dental office. I highly recommend that if you don't agree or just have any doubt to a proposed treatment plan that you get a 2nd opinion- I can't even imagine how many other children they have put through such invasive procedures that could be fixed with fillings. I've been back 3 times waiting for my son to get extractions, the first time 3 weeks ago they made me wait an hour and 15 minutes before I offered to come back another day they still had multiple patients in front of us, they were having a bad day I tell myself..whatever we will come back, I come back a couple days later for them to preform a cleaning and not to do the extractions I initially made the appointment for! I agreed to a cleaning BUT it's not the main reason I made the appointment for my son who's already scared and hates being here. Now I'm here a 3rd time a week later to sit here 45 minutes before I summon the courage to complain which IHATE doing for her to go check what's going on after 2 people who came after us get called back for her to say they FORGOT to call us back? I use to love this place but however my mind is changed. I have a special needs child that needed some work done and the lady who was cleaning his teeth seemed already annoyed. Long story short they referred my child out to be sedated for work and noted very uncooperative: how is a child tearing up uncooperative and if they had the proper training and took the time to understand special needs this entire situation could've been avoided. The staff is very caring and professional. The waiting area is clean and kid friendly. Every tray and tool used on my kids was covered in plastic appearing to be sterilized. The other parents and children seemed happy to be there and at peace about their children's dental care given there. The DDS asked if I had any concerns and gave suggestions how to introduce flossing to my 2.5 year old. I have heard horror stories about Western Dental which is what my insurance covers and so I am pleased they take me as a cash patient, because protecting my kids from trauma about seeing the dentist is huge for me. The kids like going and 6 month cleanings are affordable as long as I put money aside each month, which is very doable. I have not had to deal with any other treatments, but so far our experience has been lovely. read more

I love taking my 3 year old to Modesto Kidz Dental. They are super fast and on time. My favorite assistant is Karina, she knows exactly what she is doing and keeps my son comfortable and feeling safe. She treated my son with a lot of care and answered all my questions and concerns on behalf of my sons oral health. She has a great personality and is super friendly with all the clients and staff. This place is a joke! The short version: The dentist never examined my child. Just read the X-rays and told me what he needed to have done without ANY explanation. They told me my son had 7 cavities!!! I took him to my dentist for a second opinion and he found only 1. They charged my insurance for a cleaning when THEY DIDN'T DO A CLEANING. They didn't even floss or brush his teeth for that matter. Staff was nice but I feel they falsely bill Medical for services that weren't rendered. I do not trust this office. Beware! read more

The only person I'd like to thank was the sweet girl who did the teeth cleaning on my boys. (THANK YOU) I took my twin boys, they diagnosed one of them 9 ROOT CANALS yup 9. The other twin 1 root canal and a bunch of fillings. I felt devastated to think that I had to put my kids through such procedure. Well, I went to a different dentist for a second opinion. I filled out the request forms to release the x-rays. Well I never got the x-rays and when I showed up to the new dentist without the x rays they called Kidz Dental for me to please email us the x-rays because we were waiting on them. Emily (i believe that was her name) answered and said she would email us the release forms AGAIN and then the x-rays. Well they never did, and when the receptionist at my new dentist tried calling them to see what was the hold up, they kept hanging up on her. So unprofessional. The dentist decided to proceed and took new X-rays and went on with the appointment. Come to find out none of my twin boys needed root canals, nonetheless 9 of them!!!!! I was relieved that they only needed a few fillings. AND I was shocked that a dentist would be so aggressive and diagnosed such treatment for a 3 year old, and try to do unnecessary work on my kids teeth. Also I called them to please email me a school note, I forgot to ask for one before leaving the appointment, receptionist said she would do that. Apparently they don't like to follow up and do their job. Never got the email. If you want a catering dentist for you kids, don't settle for this one. Don't even expect the dentist to talk to you about the treatment plan. The receptionist will do that. read more

This place is a joke every single time i try and make an appointment they can not accommodate my child his cavity has now become a root canal b/c they took so long to follow up. I brought him in for pain today and the dr did nothing at all. They scheduled him for next month. They are ridiculous. Waste of time to come here all the girls are worried about is their gossip and the dr is very slow, i can not even understand what he says b/c he has a heavy accent. Kidz Dental staff is super friendly & accommodating! They made my 6yr old feel at ease with being at the dentist. I was recommended to use Kidz Dental & now I see why. It is always a great experience at Modesto Kidz Dental. Staff is very friendly and Dr is amazing! However this last time was by far the absolute worse. They did a horrible job cleaning my daughters teeth and the new dentist there at least I'd never seen her before is the worse!!!! I checked my daughters mouth when she came home and was beyond disappointed, what exactly did she even go for they did nothing to her. My son had his appt at 930 and we were roomed at 11 and we still had to wait to be seen, after 15 minutes of waiting I left....they are always so behind, the people that work here are really friendly which I like but the wait times are unprofessional, maybe they should book what they know can get done and not over book if they can't keep up with the patient volume. read more
