I had a problem with the ice maker on my refrigerator and called Matters plumbing. They came out, and got it working but told me they didn't know how long it would last and told me I needed to order a part and that when it came in I should get a hold of them and they would come put it in. When the part came in, I contacted them and was told they would get back with me. I waited a week and contacted them again only to be told they would get back with me in Another Week. Then was told I should call a "repairman". If they can't work on refrigerators, why did they bother to come work on mine in the first place?? Needless to say I will Never call them for anything. Great service and pricing! Drew and Paul came over earlier today to remove and install a new water heater and sump pump. They did a fantastic job and went out of their way to ensure my carpets remained clean, which I did appreciate a lot. However, what I appreciated the most and where Drew went above and beyond is earlier this evening I noticed my upstairs carpet was wet. I ran downstairs and noticed a 8-10" water ring on my ceiling. I called Drew and without hesitation he said he'd be over soon, and walked me through shutting off the main and draining the system. He arrived within 30 minutes and said, "There's no way I can leave you without water overnight." He then immediately started addressing the issue. I just purchased my house 2 months ago and I am also new to St. Mary's county. My water was lukewarm for 2 days until I had enough. Luckily the sellers purchased a home warranty for me and boy did we need it now! The warranty company reached out to Matter's Plumbing and I spoke with the owner Mike Matters. He personally came to my home and diagnosed the gas water heater. It was 17 years (way past its life expectancy) so he gave me the option of fixing certain parts or replacing the aging machine. I didn't want to keep replacing parts so I opted for replacing the water heater. After my home warranty company accepted their estimate Matter's Plumbing delivered, installed the new water heater and discarded the old one (cleaned up as well) THE SAME DAY!!!! Matters Plumbing ghosts me when looking for a written quote. I'm looking for a written quote for a simple job to submit as part of an insurance claim. The first time I called, the receptionist took my contact info and promised to pass it along to the plumber. After hearing nothing, I called back the next week. The same thing happened; however, I did receive a call the next day from Drew. He provided a verbal quote and promised to later send a written quote. Another week goes by, and I don't have a written quote, so I call Matters for the 3rd time. Like before, my name and contact info are recorded to pass along. Week 4...still nothing. I call again. Matters Plumbing was absolutely awful and took advantage of myself (a woman) and charged me an astronomical price for fixing my sub pump. The tech who came out (Lynch) never informed me of how much the work would be before starting and did not explained what was done completely. I did receive $50 off but that must have been a short since of regret on his part for even offering it. To All- make sure to do your research before hiring just any one to do work. I have used them twice. The first time I had an outside faucet and on in my garage that needed replaced. This was due to them leaking when turned on a hose attached. They were able to locate the issue and areas needed within the structure of my home. They had due pipe work due to the issue. They did an amazing job! They were super nice, professional, and knew exactly what needed to be done. Clean-up was perfect too. The second time I needed a toilet replaced due to one that was fixed prior (not be them) was leaking again. Although I had a spare one in a box, I never opened it till the tech came. It was broken... But they made my day... probably year. Even though it started to snow, he went out and got me a new toilet and installed it, all in the same day and in not so good weather. The tech was prompt, professional, cleaned-up amazingly and super nice. I will continue to use Matter's Plumbing in the future whenever a need arises for it. We recently hired Matters Plumbing for a kitchen leak in a rental property, between the sink and refrigerator. Without checking the refrigerator the technician decided that the leak was coming from the sink cold water line and spliced a new section of pipe into it. This cost me $450 and did not solve the problem. On a subsequent visit he checked the refrigerator ice maker supply line and noted the leak. I replaced the line myself. Shortly after, the tenant called and stated that the dishwasher was no longer working. I hired an appliance repairman to troubleshoot. He informed me that the plumber had failed to reopen the dishwasher water valve after servicing. That service call cost $233. So now I've wasted $683 total and fixed the issue myself. In the future I'll hire a plumber with better diagnostic skills and enough initiative to fully investigate the issue prior to splicing and compromising the existing pipe structure. Matters Plumbing has failed to respond to repeated emails and phone messages. Beware folks. read more

I contacted Mike about a problem I was having with my main sewer line. I had previously gotten two estimates from other companies which I thought were on the high side. After speaking to Mike, he gave me an estimate that was 1/3 of the high-end estimate and 1/2 of the middle estimate. Although his was the low-end estimate, he responded quickly and completed the work in an efficient and professional manner. Mike even went above and beyond what he was contracted for by fixing a drainage problem with my kitchen sink and putting a cap on an exposed toilet access hole at no additional charge. Update on the plumbing situation! Well it's fixed and if you need a reliable plumber, call Matter's Plumbing. I had to call 4 plumbers to find one that would come out before next week. He came right away, in about one hour. Seems our pipes were never done right in the first place. Who builds a sewer pipe draining uphill? Even a moron knows that water drains downhill! Mike Matters actually had to raise the pipe up in order to get it to drain correctly. I can actually flush my toilet tonight and take a shower in the morning. Being patient, I gave them a call the next week. He asked "is 10am okay" I said yes. He showed up at 1pm. I was no longer home. He did not say between 10 and 1. I called on Sunday morning and I figured they would be busy due to the extreme cold weather and the snow storm. I told him what my problem was and although he was busy, he fit me in to fix my tub spout and he gave me a temporary fix until he could get over to fix it completely .
