I ordered a Bambu Labs H2D printer with the 10W laser from Matterhackers, choosing the "in-store pickup" option because their website showed it as "in stock." I needed the printer urgently and was prepared to pick it up the same day. After placing the order, I called to confirm pickup and was told the printer wasn't actually in the store--it would need to be shipped from an east coast warehouse. Nowhere on the website did it make this clear, and the "in-stock" status for in-store pickup was very misleading. I don't know if they ever actually stock this model in-store, or if it was just out of stock now, but the lack of clarity was a big problem for me. If I had known shipping was required, I would have purchased from another vendor that offered a lower price and extras. I don't want to cancel my order, but I'm frustrated by the lack of transparency and the inconvenience this has caused. Bottom line: If you need something right away, don't rely on Matterhackers' "in-stock" or "in-store pickup" claims without calling to double-check. Ordered a handful of Formlabs Creator Tough resin bottles from them, specifically FROM THEM and not Amazon or other vendors because they said "in Stock/Ships tomorrow" A week later and the only tracking information I had was that a shipping label had been created. Made a ticket on Dec 2nd to complain about the items purchased still not having shipped. "Oh yeah, it's a USPS thing, they just havent updated it yet. Come back in a week and if it still hasn't arrived let us know" The next day, tracking information updates "Dec. 3rd, item accepted at USPS facility" Screw this company. Buy your supplies literally anywhere else, their prices aren't even good and their stock/shipping times are false advertising, causing more than a week of wasted time. read more

I purchased a Bambu H2D printer through MatterHackers for over $2,000 expecting a reliable machine for production work. What I received was a unit with a shattered glass door and embedded glass fragments in the belts that continue to cause accelerated wear. This is not a case of user error or misuse. This printer arrived defective. The Problem Both nozzles exhibit extruder overload errors when printing at normal speeds (200 to 300mm/s). The printer cannot sustain operation beyond 2 to 3 hours before clogging, even using standard profiles in Bambu Slicer. For reference, I have two other H2D units with over 900 hours each that show no such issues under identical conditions. Troubleshooting Completed Before contacting support, I exhausted every reasonable diagnostic step: Full printer reset and calibration Filament calibration at target speeds using high flow nozzles with standard 0.2mm profiles Multiple cold pulls on both nozzles Extruder gear disassembly and cleaning per BambuWiki H2D documentation Bambu's built in Flow Rate and Dynamics calibration tests Swapped nozzles to other printers (nozzles performed normally on the same sliced file, confirming this is a printer issue) Reverted to standard nozzles with standard profiles (same overload errors) Cleaned all PTFE tubing and verified minimal resistance with straight routing Tested multiple build plates to rule out Z offset issues Printed official Bambu .3mf files to eliminate slicer settings as a variable Reduced speeds by 5 to 10% below standard profiles This cost me approximately 6 days of print time and 5kg of filament diagnosing a machine that should have worked out of the box. The Support Experience MatterHackers support (Kira) was polite throughout, but the process was frustrating. On December 31st, after I provided extensive documentation of the issue, Kira suggested the problem was "heat creep" and recommended I print faster. I pushed back on this. I'm using high speed PLA with an actively heated/cooled chamber under Bambu's own profiles. The symptoms I'm experiencing do not align with heat creep behavior. I've been doing additive manufacturing for over 10 years. I know what heat creep looks like. This isn't it. Eventually MatterHackers approved the replacement on December 31st. That should have been the end of it. Where It Fell Apart MatterHackers requires the original packaging for returns. I discarded the packaging after initial test prints were successful and the machine appeared fully operational. The issues only manifested during extended print jobs. The suggestion that customers should "retain original packaging until the unit has been fully verified over time" is not a realistic expectation for consumers. No reasonable person keeps bulky industrial packaging indefinitely after a product appears to work. On January 5th, Kira sent me a cart link for $70 worth of packaging materials I would need to purchase to return the defective unit. They also stated the replacement would not ship until they received and inspected the defective printer first. I pushed back. We are not paying an additional $70 for packaging materials to return a defective $2,000 printer. The defects originated from either manufacturing or shipping, and we should not bear any additional costs to remedy this situation. On January 6th, Kira stated this was MatterHackers policy, reviewed by their leadership team, and there was no need for escalation. If I used my own packaging and the printer arrived damaged, any damage would be deducted from the credit used toward the exchange. On January 7th, they finally confirmed they would provide a prepaid return shipping label, but still required me to source my own packaging (3 to 4 layer corrugated box with adequate protective material) and submit photos for approval before they would release the label. The Outcome I fixed the printer myself. On my own dime. On my own time. I replaced the Gantry belts and entire extruder assembly due to the glass fragments causing extensive damage. Summary MatterHackers followed their written policies, but those policies are not customer friendly when dealing with clear shipping damage or manufacturing defects. The expectation that a customer should absorb additional costs and extended downtime to return a defective product they spent over $2,000 on is unreasonable. This experience has made it clear that MatterHackers does not prioritize customer support when issues arise. I will not be doing business with them in the future. read more

I placed a large dollar item order on 4/8/24 for a Voron 3D printer along with some other components which I now canceled due to lack of shipping capacity and zero activity when the items will ship. Usually that is a bad sign, indicator that this business doesn't know what the hell they are doing. I called the next morning and asked for an update after waiting on hold for 20 minutes. They had no idea what the delay was. I called again the following day on HOLD again for 15 minutes, still no clue what the delay is. I finally had it and canceled and asked for a refund. Matterhackers...What a sham. "We pride ourselves on fast shipping. If you order an in-stock item by 1:00 pm Pacific Time it will ship the same day and, for U.S. orders, will normally take 2-3 days to arrive." read more

They sold me a defective Craftbot FLOW 3D printerr and now they are ghosting me. the screen freezes after about 3 or 4 touches. Can't upload firmware, heat up the extruders, nothing. The screen just freezes and then it is unresponsive to touch. The LCD monitor feels overly warm. This is NOT PLUG AND PLAY as they advertised, and currently this $1000.00 investment is useless to me. They required permanent modifications to my existing sub assembly After 3 weeks they finally responded and told me they were NOT compatible with current firmware, to pull it all apart and return it. Not to worry about the permanent modification, much less my time. They didn't understand resistance. Simple resistance, and call themselves "matterhackers". Had the gall to tell me I was lucky they responded at all, "3 weeks is quick these days". Well guess what, NO hobby printing parts are worth anything without support. If you need parts, go to Amazon. Unless you want your perfectly working printer destroyed by careless un human shysters. Go anywhere else. Walmart is better tech support. They ruined my interest in 3D printing. I use 3d printing to make models of different designs and show to clients. So I'm pretty familiar with 3d printing. Matter Hackers customer service policies are horrible. I purchased multiple spools. The quality was not good and kept clogging my printer (Prusa imk). I figured I can return it and purchase filament elsewhere. Their response: "Sure! but you will have to pay shipping, and after receiving the spools we will examine them and if they're perfect by our mysterious standards we're going to hit you with a restocking fee. Oh, and the one spool you opened and tried because that's the sensible thing to do when you get a product... yea its not eligible for a return." And of course they offered to troubleshoot on the phone to see if the filament could work with my printer. Yet they say if I open any other filaments they wont be eligible for returns. I love it when manufacturers try to set traps. It seems like MatterHackers is invested in selling a faulty product and simply collecting return fees from unhappy customers. Overall, I have not been happy with their PLA filament. I usually purchase HatchBox from Amazon, but thought I would try this at my son's urging. The filament is nice, but I've had too many spools that are wound so poorly that the filament broke or just prevented extrusion. On one occasion, they very reluctantly replaced the spool but tried to blame me for messing up the spool. I've not had any other brand have this problem. I've had it and won't buy anymore MatterHackers PLA. read more

I cannot say enough about my customer service experience. I do not write reviews often but I noticed that there were a few that differed from my experience. Like many during this time I have started on a new hobby. I have been doing CNC work for quite some time and decided to move into laser. My first choice after reviewing several models was to go with an Emblazer 2. After working with this laser for a week I discovered that it was having difficulty with what I wanted to accomplish and at that point I contacted MatterHackers about options for exchange and replacement with a FSL muse. I made things more complicated by recycling my laser box but despite this, MatterHackers support staff had solutions for everything. There was some delays from the manufacturer for my replacement laser and the MatterHackers support staff communicated those well to me. Every time I called and spoke to a different staff member I felt that they were kind and supportive. I could not be happier with how everything worked out. I will continue to give this company my business perhaps as the next step of moving into 3-D printing. ***on a sidenote as a healthcare professional, it was great to see all the support on their website for manufacturing personal protective equipment and they definitely did a fantastic job of taking the appropriate measures to protect their staff. read more

I always get the wrong size fillament. I order 1.75mm and poof 2.85 shows up at my door. Then when I check my order, the order has changed. This has happened 4 times and I think they run out of the 1.75 so they change the order to 2.85 and ship it anyway. read more

Great store, if you're looking to buy a printer buy it here even if the online prices elsewhere may be competitive. It's worth the trip and whatever minuscule extra amount you may spend here and I highly suggest buying in person if possible. Even before going to the store I called about some questions regarding a printer they sold and they went out of their way to answer, research and verify their answers for me (Thanks again Gavan). Once there they answered more questions than I asked to say the least and they didn't rush me at all. They were happy to give me tips and suggestions regarding my new printer and were happy to here any and all of my concerns. (I believe it was Matthew(?) who was also assisting me with Gavan, thanks man!) The front desk receptionist was super nice too, very helpful and knowledgeable. Sales team is pretty good. They answered a lot of questions before they started to glaze over - think I just wore the guy out eventually. Sorry bub. I wound up purchasing from them because I spent so much of the sales team time and I had confidence they would provide the level of support they proudly claim. Post purchase, things started to go downhill. Shipping information was hazy, no updates given until the delivery driver had a 30 minute window to meet me. Hurry up and wait. Support has been hit and miss but mostly miss. It takes several days to a week to get a response and then it went so so. Rep obviously not taking time to read the whole email, making recommendations that are (more) easily found on the web. No parts in stock for warranty which is somewhat excusable due to the newness of the model I purchased. Did I mention slow communication? Overall, I spent close to 8 grand with them and I feel that doesn't mean much. With the low quality of support, and relatively high cost of materials, I am left wondering why I purchased from them. Poor customer service. My 3D printer was recently dropped in a move and the manufacturer recommended that I reach out to them as they stock replacement parts or can get them. I send an e-mail off, 2 days later get a reply that they will look into it and get back to me, sounded promising. 7 days pass nothing, send off a follow up and they get back to me saying that they are still looking into it and will get back to me ASAP. Sent another follow up 16 days later nothing... I even reached out to the manufacturer again and they indicated they have the parts in stock. I even called them and got "What is your e-mail so I can see where you are in the queue. Oh he was at a trade show last week, he should reply back today or tomorrow". Tomorrow came and went... I purchased a Ultimaker S3 and 8 or so spools of different filaments, and never got the printer to work. It kept having feed issues within the first mm or so. I called there tech support, they asked for me to take pictures and such and i did. They referred it to Ultimaker and was given to the support team. They required more work on it, and possible switch out a fan. I wasted about 3 days trying to get it to work but now lost my confidence in the product. I asked to return authorization and was told they will deduct 15% for restocking fee. Even though the product does not work. The Salesman Kyle was fine but terrible support and if anything goes wrong, look out. I will never buy from them again. Over the past month or so, my husband and I have ordered several hundred dollars worth of materials from MatterHackers. Rhonda (a customer care specialist) is always quick to email me the next business day to both confirm the order and to ask any questions that may come up about our order. For example: we accidentally ordered the wrong size nozzles in our last order. Before shipping it out, she sent us a quick email to confirm that we wanted the size we had ordered since all of our previous orders had been for a different size HotEnd. She went out of her way to make sure that what she was shipping was actually what we needed. When we voiced our confusion at the difference (we're still learning about the 3D printer and how it all works) she patiently explained that the difference was not just in the size of the output for the nozzle, but in the size of the barrel of said nozzle. (Something we would not have been able to tell right off the bat unless we were looking at the two different pieces side by side). Whenever an item we've ordered is out of stock (temporarily) or on back order, she let's us know and gives us several options for that order (refund, gift card, wait until it comes back in stock, etc). Each and every single email conversation that we have had with Rhonda has been informative, polite and generously patient. (Even the ones where I was merely responding with whatever my husband said and it was quite clear that I was lost in translation between the two of them. She took the time to confirm what I was asking, and then help me to understand what it was we were actually looking for, instead of just skipping over my head and going straight to my husband each time -- which I admit, we should have done ourselves, but hey, I learned a lot from her careful explanations!) Her patience and care has made us life-long customers. We appreciate the value MatterHackers clearly sees in their customers and the attention to detail that comes with shopping with them. They Sold me two Refurbished Raise3d machines, neither with a level bed. Blamed shipping then sent me a video on fixing it - these beds have 39 screws to level them and per Raise3d, they are leveled at the factory 3 times and should come level. I spoke with Betsy and she provided me a quote for a couple of printers. I submitted an order (and they sent the wrong one, billed for the right one, just sent 1 a thousand dollars less) and after receiving the order it became clear that they sent the wrong printer. I then called and made arrangements to pick up this printer and send the correct one. Their shipper decided to not bother coming around the corner to pick up the printer, like they did to deliver this one. Then they rescheduled the pickup only to find that they again didn't show up to pick up the correct printer the second time. A half dozen worthless apologies later I'm still stuck with the wrong printer. Terrible company and crap customer service. Zero follow through. Maybe if I called to cancel the 4200.00 I spent with them they'd give more of an effort to get my issue resolved. read more

I have been saving up to buy an Ultimaker 2 Extended printer for two years. 3D Printing is a large part of my income and one of my favorite hobbies. Matterhackers had the best possible price for a new Ultimaker 2 Extended. I wanted to write a review to thank Maisie for her stellar customer service. She answered every question I had, was very friendly and was a huge help. I did have a problem with fedex delivery. They claimed they had mistakenly delivered my printer to another address and couldn't find it, then claimed it was still on a truck. Fedex were very slow to update and I was worried. I was extremely upset (as was my wife) since it was a very expensive purchase. When I let Matterhackers know what was happening, they immediately took care of me. They resolved the problem without me having to call fedex again, and I now have a gorgeous 3D printer that comes with amazing customer support. Thank you so much, you guys rock! BEWARE of certain employees (ESPECIALLY the Product Manager i believe the name was Matthew, as he had a very rude and incompetent attitude). These employees WILL try to rip you off and try to get you out of their shop if you're not buying their printers. They have HORRIBLE customer service, as they don't like dealing with customers after they bought a 3D printer from this store. I suggest going to a better store, Deezmaker 3D Printing Fun, as they will be HAPPY to assist you with minor situations like mine, regardless if you have a warranty or not, at NO cost. A relative of mine bought a 3D printer here not too long ago from this store, and gave it to me as a birthday gift. There was a small error with my 3D printer that needed a little bit of adjusting (which was leveling the printer head). I called the store, and Rhonda told me that it shouldn't be a problem, and to come on over to take a look and have it fixed. Upon arriving at the office complex, it was very difficult to find the store. I called again, and Matthew answered. He told me they are in Suite # 106. Eventually, he had to come outside and find me, because there were multiple suites that are numbered "106". When i arrived at the store, i asked Matthew if he can help me bring my 3D printer inside from my car because it was very heavy for me to carry. He did not bother to reply, and simply waltzed inside the store as if i never spoke to him. When i brought the 3D printer inside, he told me to put my 3D printer down on the floor. I told him my small situation and that i came all the way from bakersfield, and then he said that anything over 20 minutes of repairing would cost me around $40 an hour, depending on the mechanic. I said okay, as the adjustment would only take a few minutes. Afterwards, he left the lobby of the store with my 3D printer, leaving me there hanging in the front. I followed him after, and found them at a room in the back. Then he told me that i wasn't suppose to be in the back with him, as it was for employees only. Understandable, but next time, don't leave a customer hanging alone in the lobby without any word of what's going on then. When i went back to the lobby, he appeared and asked me if i'm going to leave my machine with them and come back or wait in the lobby. Where am i suppose to go at 6PM at night? He never acknowledged that i came all the way from Bakersfield just to have a minor problem fixed. I didn't plan on going anywhere except going home after my situation is resolved. Anyways, I told him that i'll be waiting at the lobby. There was a lot of cool gadgets around the store, so i asked Eric, another representative of the store, if i can buy a 3D model from them. He told me that they don't sell anything other than printers. Yet after a few short minutes, Matthew offered a small cog to me for $5 and a spaceship that was showcased in a shelf for around $45. Now, either Eric lied to me about the company policy, or Matthew was trying to make a quick buck off of me. When Eric appeared in the lobby with me and Matthew, he told me that the warranty with my printer has expired by a few months (which i didn't know because it was given to me by a relative). Matthew immediately wanted me out of the store, and threatened to charge me $70 every half hour or get out, right then and there. When I asked why he would charge me $70 instead of around $40, he said it was because i lied to him that i bought the 3D printer in September. I already told him that i received the printer from a relative in September. I never said that i BOUGHT it in September. Afterwards, He kept threatening to charge me $70, yet he wasn't even the mechanic to repair my 3D printer to begin with. When the actual mechanic came out to the lobby where Matthew and i was, he kindly handed me my 3D printer with the printhead already adjusted and taught me how to adjust it next time, at NO cost. I suggest avoiding this store altogether. I came all the way from Bakersfield just to have them adjust a printhead, and i was treated like a rat by Matthew, the product manager. Maybe it was because he didn't want me to leave the store without being charged first, i don't know. But charging me $70 for something that only took a couple minutes is INSANE, AND he wasn't even the mechanic to repair my printer! Before they moved offices and changed faculty, they didn't have a corporate attitude where they'd charge you $70 for a simple adjustment. Do NOT go to this store unless you want a rude a-hole charge you $70 every half hour, when he's not even the one fixing the printer to begin with. Apparently, Matthew had a very elitist attitude, and ONLY cares about selling expensive 3D printers. He needs to work on his personality, because it is HORRIBLE. Approximately one year ago, my 12 year-old son purchased (with a little help from dad) a Printrbot Simple Metal directly from the factory... what a mistake that was... For the next year, we spent countless hours troubleshooting various problem via email with the Printrbot customer service department. Initially, they were relatively responsive... They had us re-flash the firmware multiple times, sent us a new power supply, and even tested our board (and said it was o.k.). However, as the months passed, the printer continued to stop mid-print. We had yet to complete an entire print. After many months, I politely requested that they replace the printer with one that actually worked properly. Printrbot then ceased all communication with me. My son now had a very expensive paperweight. Recently, my son and I contacted Taylor at MatterHackers and that was when our luck began to change. Taylor helped us determine that the printer's board was malfunctioning. With his guidance, we finally got the printer working. Not only is it working, but it is working flawlessly. I buy all my 3D printer material here. Their material is good, even the standard stuff and their price is VERY competitive. I either buy online (shipping is free) or swing by when I need it same day.
