Blue crab hand roll
Linda T.

I did a phone order with the Hawaiian roll and 2 hand rolls. It was $38. I had just missed the happy hour special. The staff were friendly and the order was prepared fairly quickly. The tuna was fresh and the Hawaiian roll was really good. It was a quick take out order while we were charging the car. If I am in the area again, there are some other menu items I would try.

We love Matsu Sushi it's our favorite place We moved about 40 minutes away but still drive down to Castaic because we love this place so much!!! Highly recommend it to everyone!!

Beef gyoza

Stopped here on my drive back home while I charged my car and I must say it was a nice surprise. It was very busy for a Tuesday night. The staff was so kind, but the food was absolutely amazing. The roll we had was so buttery and soft, and also really great price point was also extremely affordable did not see your roll over $20. Now I have the perfect place to stop and charge when I'm driving down south, and have a nice lunch or dinner. If you're in the area and have to charge your car I would definitely stop in here and have a bite to eat. I do wish I lived closer so I could have it more often.

Exterior of sushi spot

I'm a big fan of this little sushi spot tucked along the Old road. At first glance, the exterior doesnt catch your eye. But inside,, the staff are kind and welcoming, and the sushi is clearly made with care. They don't overload the rolls with rice just to fill you up. Instead, every piece feels thoughtfully prepared, with a nice balance of flavors and freshness. It's the kind of place that values quality over flash. This time around, tried out a few of the usual rolls and some new ones. They've updated their menu and they contain images of what theyre offering. I always say, you eat with your eyes first. I'd recommend the snow white and the malibu. Their 911 roll and tropical cucumber are also good (from previous visits) Next time, i have my eye on the carpaccio! Just a heads-up: it's a small establishment, so service can take a little time. If you want ginger, wasabi, or spicy mayo; youve got to ask for it. But if you're not in a rush, it's well worth the wait. They even have a couple of tv screens usually showing sports in there. Bonus: there's a Tesla charger in the parking lot, which might mean this hidden gem won't stay a secret for long.

Hot Date Roll

Hidden gem in Castaic. Stoped here for lunch on the way to LA and my husband said it was one of the best rolls he had. And he is pretty particular. Delicious fresh rolls with light tasting rice. Good beer.

Got a salmon roll to go while charging the car. Basic rolls are affordable, fish is fresh and tasty, quick in and out. Service was prompt and friendly. Inside has tables to sit and looked like servers were attentive. Def will come back when charging at this location!

We came to this plaza for the Tesla charger. No establishment offers public restrooms. There are only two restaurants, Las Delicias Sport Taqueria and Matsu Sushi Japanese Restaurant, and their restrooms are for customers only. We chose Matsu Sushi, a cozy and clean restaurant. The hostess/waitress/server Blair was very kind and helpful. She let us know when I told her we were here to use a restroom that we could purchase a drink or something to go. We ended up electing to eat dinner early. I ordered the bbq short rib entree, which came with miso soup, salad and rice. We also ordered their beef bowl, and the dinner bento. The two item bento we ordered with the gyoza and salmon roll, which is also served with soup, salad and rice. Again, Blair was very accommodating and had the gyoza steamed for us instead of fried at our request. The miso soup was seasoned well and not overly salty. Salad was fresh and nicely sauced. Rice was nice and fluffy. Bbq beef short rib was generously sauced, tender, and flavorful. TLDR: Excellent service, great food, good restaurant. Would recommend!

This smaller establishment right next to the I-5 freeway offers multiple entree options (e.g., bento boxes) alongside a diverse selection of well-priced sushi rolls. Our food was brought to us quickly and our two waiters were personable and attentive. Their service was exceptional. The energetic music added a nice touch to our experience as well.

I've been coming here for years and Matsu is always improving. Now with a revamped menu and staffing changes, led by new manager Blair, this place is better than ever. I love the creative specials and hand rolls. The Acorn Noodle dish with bluefin tuna fin tuna was delicious! Everything I had was top notch. This is probably my favorite sushi restaurant in LA, and that is saying something given how many sushi restaurants I've been to in four decades in LA.

We had a great time in this place. Fresh sushi and miso soup. The waitress was very nice to us. Highly recommended.

Best sushi in SCV, truly!! The head chef Mark is a master at his craft, the fish is incredibly fresh. The wait staff are so attentive, Eddy, Leila & Blair! This is a weekly spot for me, so worth it

Back again, still top tier. Still fresh. Still OG. New hand roll menu is bombay. Shoutout to Blaire, best service and experience for sushi lovers! Thank you for everything!

Poke carpaccio
Alex A.

Rule 1 - get Eddy as your server Rule 2 - order the damn poke carpaccio You'll be amazed at how much fish you'll get, and how much flavor it has. Other notable roll was "the hungry roll" It was a special some months back but it should definitely be added to the menu! Another hugeeeeee plus is their no rice sushi options! By far the "ex-girlfriend" was my favorite! Coming from Alhambra, best sushi spot I've had.

The price I paid for the starter was 16.00 (full price), the happy hour price for the same item is 9.00, a 7.00 difference. I asked the waitress if I would be charged the 16.00 or the 9.00. She said that I ordered it at 2:40. Interesting that she didn't have to look at what time I ordered the item, she knew as if she thought I would ask about it later. It would have been nice if she had let me know, so I could have chosen to wait. I could have waited and ordered our regular food first. This situation made a late lunch/early dinner less enjoyable (I felt frustrated). It might not seem like a big deal, but I've only been to Finney's a few times. I just felt it was a lack of consideration on the server. The food was good and the portions were adequate-that earned them the 3 stars.

Their Sweet Sally is a very nice, simple seltzer to which customers can add a flavored syrup, but I enjoyed it plain. the 7.3% ABV was a perfect delight and refreshing on this warm SCV night. Plenty of room to hunker down, spread out, group tables for your 10 besties, or belly up to the bar. We brought grub from Capriotti's, others had The Stand, and others grabbed some tacos outside. I really enjoy the freedom of a simple brewhouse allowing food. I think it improves the casual hang vibe a LOT! The taco tent, and I suppose the other rotating food vendors, set up in the cul-de-sac, about 50 yards away, not right outside. JUST OUTSIDE is plenty of free parking. I can really see why locals have dubbed this a "hidden gem". Indeed, repeat customers and friendly staff that know their patrons, in a clean, comfortable environment. 2 clean, gender neutral bathrooms and a beautiful distilling room with, I'll go ahead and assume the risk of saying, each brewmasters name on a gleaming brewery vessel. The night may start off quiet, with some folks looking to enjoy a libation whilst diving into a book, or engaging in quiet conversation, or playing cards. But at any time, fun is just an 80s song away, so come to Santa Cruz Brewing and tell 'em "CC" sent you. Sure, they'll say 'WHOOOO???', but giggle and get a pint - or TWO! Cheers! "CC"

It was a little off the beaten path but we thought we'd give it a try. It's tucked away in a residential neighborhood about a mile from the 5. It was around 10 and it was fairly crowded. We got seated right away. First off, the place is super noisy having any conversation in this place is a challenge. Our order got taken fairly quickly. In ordered bacon and eggs over easy, hasbrowns and sourdough toast. My wife ordered the breakfast burrito with bacon. My order came and only one egg Was over easy the other was mostly medium and broken. The hashbrowns are more like mashed potatoes which are then grilled. Not bad but not shredded potatoes. Overall it was just okay. Meanwhile my wife's burrito came already cut in half. We both looked at it and there appeared to be a yellow sauce on the plate. When she asked about it the waitress didn't know what it was. Turns out they put an over easy egg in it. She doesn't eat runny eggs and I have never seen that method used in a burrito before. She ended up sending it back and it back pretty much in the same condition. Well it was no stellar here but obviously the locals think it mighty good.
