We belong to a sister winery's club but wanted to check out matrix. Liked their Zins and the Pinots were decent. Ended up ordering two cases of Zinfandel. The outdoor space is nice with a good view of a neighboring pond. Would recommend a stop at Matrix if in the area. read more

We called in on a Saturday at around 1:25pm as we could not make a reservation on line. We asked if our group of two could come in and were told "yes". We arrived around 2:15pm. The tasting room patio was nice today with a view of water. Our sommelier, Jacqueline, was friendly and served us promptly. She explained the wines we tasted. She even added a few extras: ) This was our first visit here at matrix and Jacqueline made our visit a nice one. Thank you : ) read more

Matrix is always beautiful and fun. The lighter Pinots are tasty and they have a good range of wines, from Chardonnay to rose to Zinfandel and Pinot noirs. The staff is friendly and the wine dogs are sweet. Be aware if you have food or a doggo of your own that the dogs will probably stop by your table. Definitely recommend stopping here if you're around Healdsburg! read more

Updating my review because Matrix continues to be a standout addition to the Wilson family of wineries. I am a member at another Wilson winery, but always find myself here more than the winery I'm actually a member at! The views are impeccable and this is often the place I bring out-of-towners to show them you don't have to go to Napa for a great experience. Everyone who works here is so nice and knowledgeable, and they'll help you curate the perfect experience if you have just 45 minutes or can take a leisurely stroll through their offerings. The wines are great here and no matter who joins me, they always find a perfect bottle to take home. read more

A cool fountain greets you as you approach the Matrix Winery tasting room. Our Server Jacqui was quite knowledgable as her family is in grape production and she gave us some great insights into the vineyards that were responsible for the various wines. Starting with the Rose of Pinot Noir was a great introduction to our tasting. The Matrix Estate Pinot Noir was quire nice but little dry for Jake. We both enjoyed the Estate Zinfandel very much. There is a pond just off the patio seating area which made our visit comfortable and relaxing. read more

This is purely a wine tasting review. We are members of this winery, recently have joined. We loved the location, very. Ambient with nice views of the lake. We had superb service. We chose Matrix for their Pinots. Matrix is part of the Wilson artisan wines with a great list of other wineries. This was our first pickup. One thing we do wish though is being able to substitute wines in our pickup. read more

Cut to the chase - we joined the wine club! Arrived without reservations on a late Saturday afternoon as it was a last-minute decision to visit. We just got lucky. Staff was accommodating and sat us pretty quickly at an outdoor table overlooking the pond, vineyards, everything. Our easygoing and professional host guided us through the tasting flight and even added in a few extra suggestions. She was friendly, knowledgeable and paced us perfectly. Matrix produces some great wines but it's all about the Pinots for me! Honestly, I enjoyed wine after wine so it was hard to pick out a favorite! We brought a couple bottles but they're long gone. Price point is around $45-60. Club membership opens up tastings at all the wineries in the Wilson family so that's an easy plus! read more

Stumbled across this place just driving around. Me and wife decided to stop and see if we could do a tasting. We didn't have a reservation and they were very accommodating and sat us promptly. The grounds are amazing. We sat outside with views of the vineyards and pond. The staff were very friendly and we were not rushed at all. The Chardonnay was one of the best I've had. The others were also really good. Glad we found this place and read the reviews. read more

The estate and seating area are lovely. Some cyclists stopped by on their route and end just like us enjoyed our own picnic snacks with the wine. Service was friendly yet not as informative as our previous wine stop. Just poured us the wines with minimal background. Which is fine and one way to do things. The view of the lake and vineyard was nice. read more

First and foremost, let me just start off by saying that I'm a huge fan of Matrix Winery. I was a member for over a year before switching my membership over to their sister winery, DeLorimier. However, my last few tasting experiences (specifically my most recent one) have been some of the worst that I've ever received here. I brought some friends here a few weeks ago for a tasting and the service was abysmal. It was fairly busy but nowhere near as busy as it would have been had it not been during the pandemic. We arrived and were sat at a table on their back patio. The table was underneath a tree, and several leaves kept falling on the table during our visit. This isn't the fault of the winery, but I can't help but to think that somebody knew that this was happening as nobody was sitting at this table (there were other tables available). Our wine steward (didn't get his name) told us nothing about the wines that he was pouring. The wine pours were ridiculously small. I wouldn't even call them pours, let alone sips. He kept coming over trying to pour the next taste even though some of us weren't ready for them yet, basically rushing us through the tasting. This was an hour and a half tasting that I booked a few weeks in advance, but we barely made it to an hour with the way that he was pouring. Ironically after he poured our last wine, he was nowhere to be found. We waited for him to come back to ask us if we wanted to purchase anything, but homeboy never showed. We finally just got up and went to the tasting counter. I literally could have just left since I get free tastings here, but we decided to still tip him since we have hearts and figured that maybe he was new or just seriously bombarded with tables. When we went inside to give him his tip, he was at the tasting bar and turned around like he didn't see us leaving. It wasn't until I said "thank you" and left the cash on the counter that he turned back around and said thank you back. Unbelievable and completely unacceptable. I was honestly embarrassed that I brought my friends here for a tasting when I have so many other sister wineries to choose from that would have easily given 10 times better service. This really should be a 2 star review, but since I really do love their wine and this winery, I'm just going to drop it to a 3. Let this be a lesson learned; please train your ENTIRE staff on sommelier etiquette and customer service or you will lose memberships and business. Now I'm feeling like I made the right decision by switching my membership over to DeLorimier. I'm hoping that things will improve on a future visit here (whenever that may be?!). read more

Matrix is a beautiful winery with a beautiful view looking down on a lake with a small boat house. The wines are fabulous, we in particular love the Zins. Our host Jacqui was lovely and very knowledgable. Unfortunately, our visit was marred by the presence of a yappy dog who barked every time a visitor arrived. When visiting a "dog friendly" winery, you would expect that the dogs be supervised, well behaved and not detract from the wine experience. Today was not the case, the one dog kept yapping whenever visitors came to the door and the other dog who was quiet just plopped himself down under the table next to us with the group was having a picnic. I was there in the summer and a similar experience occurred. It was annoying but tolerable. Today when we were all sitting inside it was terrible. The whole experience made me sad. Not only did it mar a special day, I feel like I lost my favorite winery. The star rating is only based on the ambiance. The wine, service were fantastic read more

I came in on a weekday with my friend because she is a wine member. We were able to get seated without a reservation but they did say they prefer when guest make reservations ahead of time. At first I felt that we were just a table that they would get to when they had time (there was only one other table there at the time). Service got better and we had a few good laughs with the pourers . I really enjoyed the wine and seating area looking over the pond. I want to come back and bring my husband because we are looking for a new membership. read more

What a beautiful winery with nice views, vineyards, and the river behind the wisteria covered patio. We arrived early in the morning and were pleasantly greeted by Patrick. He was knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. As it was a blistering hot Sonoma day, we eagerly tried their sauvignon blanc and rose. Both were spectacular! Next, we sampled their reds...pinots were very good. Perhaps because of the weather, we took home the sauvignon blanc and rose. Ah! So good in the warmer temperatures. read more

What a hidden surprise! This winery is a hidden gem! Their red wines are so delish! We came in for a quick visit, and the lady who was serving us was very accommodating, she told us in details about the wines and where they are grown. Plus the winery is very kids friendly, everyone was one with our kids running around. The views were fantastic, the beautiful lake was so gorgeous! We needed up buying Chardonnay which was so creamy and perfect for everyday. Next time we are in the area we definitely gonna visit the matrix winery ! Also very RV friendly- recommend for those with RVs read more

What can I say, this winery has an spectacular view, fell in love with their wine and the winery itself. I went to the Chili taste off and this was one of the participating winery's. So many to choose from it was hard to pick, this winery greeted us with a red wine from the Bacigalupi vineyard state which was delicious. I would definitely come back to this winery in the summer time as the view is phenomenal and has that Zen relaxation feeling. As guests of Ms. Shayla, we were invited to a very impressive sampling of mostly reds zins and pinos. Those are my favorite types... so beside seeing Shayla and her other pals, I was pretty excited to try em. I'm no wine dude as you know and frankly after about 10 samples and a couple of meatballs (made with one of the zins). I was done. Knowing I had to drive, I let Bae enjoy the last samples from my extra glass.but I did hon my likes about the varieties we sampled. I suppose i have decided I like fruity, spicy vs oaky, smoky or earthy. This is a smallish winery, perfect for getting busy on the samples without having to walk to hell and back. Some tables set up inside the tasting room and a couple outside. Nice patio and seating areas overlooking the hills and lake below. Staff seemed friendly but there wasn't a lot of mingling because Shayla's entourage of friends was plenty fun to keep us on our toes! Got to finally meet Mia and Casey, fellow yelpers. Typically I'd be on the golf course with weather like this Saturday with da boys. But frankly being surrounded by such lovely ladies in a scenic winery was a delightful departure. The convivial peaceful setting was a nice departure: it was an honor to be invited to such a special event. Thank you Ms. Shayla! read more

Nice outdoor patio. Friendly service. Lovely red wines. Causal atmosphere. Our group of six enjoyed the experience.

The wine would get a four star, but because the service from Patrick was so poor, it gets a 2 star. He didn't know too much about the wine. He knew one friend only wanted white, but he didn't make sure she was seen when we received the reds. He took forever to give us our pies. He never checked if we wanted to buy any wine. read more

Delightful. Super hot day, and the shade with breeze and awesome view of the odd little lake below was just right. We walked away with couple of bottles we liked, but balked at joining. Great wine, relaxing experience. read more

Visited during barrel Tasting weekend. Beautiful grounds that overlook a big pond. A large bocce ball in front with a nice fountain and lots of areas to sit and enjoy wine tasting or by the bottle. We came here for a tasting for my friends birthday. They sat us outside next to the bocce ball area, which meant we had people coming over by us constantly. In regards to social distancing, I think that could've been handled better. The woman attending to us during our tasting was polite and knowledgeable about the wines. Truth be told, I didn't particularly care for any of the wines we tasted. One was good but I can't remember the name of it. When we finished our tastings, we roamed the grounds for a bit and took pictures and enjoyed the beautiful scenery. Many of the tables were situated in the area with the lovely view; that would've been more ideal. But maybe because we were a larger party they sat us elsewhere? Anyway, we had a good time and it's a beautiful area. I would go again. read more

The grounds are so gorgeous. I could sit there all day and look at the creek sipping wine. But that's pretty much it... My fiance and I are Wilson Winery members. We ended up staying here for a couple hours but it was very clear that there's a different vibe here than some of the other Wilson Wineries. As we sat, I watched the other host quickly pour the next taste (even when guest weren't finished but had to rush to finish) to basically get people in and out. We had a different server, though, who was very friendly and didn't rush us but disappeared for a while and we had to wait for some of our later tastes for quite some time. We also felt like they weren't into having guests taste some of their off menu wines. We felt "lucky" that our host opened a petite syrah so we had one extra wine to try, which was actually really lovely. But it honestly felt like this place, like many other wineries in the area, sticks to their menu and isn't that willing to let guests try some of their other library wines. We were going to purchase one of their pinots but we weren't super impressed with the service. Overall, I'm glad we came but I'm also glad that this isn't the winery that we are members of. read more

The grounds are remarkably breathtaking. Absolutely love the water fountain out the front, minus the loud generator to the side. The service wasn't bad considering I didn't realize last call for tastings is at 4 (even though it says open 1-5). The server was knowledgeable about the varietals in the wine however couldn't explain to me his own thoughts about it. When I left saying I was thinking about wine club he pretty much forced me to write his name down in order to "get credit" for the sale. Granted I am young and new to the wine scene, but it just felt lacking. read more

I have so many amazing things to say about this place. My first and favorite memory is that it was one of our first stops after we got engaged two years ago. Our most recent visit included some of our friends from out of town - you wouldn't even know we were there though cause our puppy got the mot attention! We were started off with their rose which is always my favorite part of summer in Sonoma County. It was light and delicious and a great way to start the hot day. Chardonnay in general is not my favorite but the rest of the group loved it. Each of their red wines isn't better than the last and it was enjoyable to share the experience with good friends They also have a great bocce court, but we steered clear of that on this triple digit day read more

Really nice winery, lovely views of the vineyards and their little pond, and some very tasty wines at decent prices. We did a tasting on their outdoor patio overlooking the vines and pond and lovely flowers all around us. The wines were very nice, a decent variety of types and flavor profiles, and moderate prices. Plus it was super dog friendly and the little winery chihuahua was super cute! read more

My husband and I came here today around 1130 am and were immediately greeted with smiles and were immediately seated ! We were seated overlooking the beautiful pond which was quite scenic !Our server was amazing up until he decided to go on a lunch break and not communicate with us where he was going ! I also asked for a glass of water and he never brought it ! The man who stood in for our server brought us our last tasting and the water I had requested earlier ! To be honest I was not impressed so I didn't tip which is unusual as I always tip ! The reason I gave three stars Thou as the wine was pretty tasty and we ended up buying two bottles ! Would I Recommend this place ? Probably not as good service means everything to me !! read more

Just an absolutely fantastic winery with a friendly and knowledgeable staff! We tasted at 4 wineries in the area yesterday, and this was the only winery at which I enjoyed every single wine. It's part of the Wilson family of wine tasting rooms, which IMO all make great wines. Known for their zins, none of the reds or whites (stainless steel barreled except for the chardonnay) disappoint. Our favorite was the 2016 reserve Pinot. The setting here is gorgeous too - take a nice stroll in the trail bordered by the vines on one side and the pond on the other, or sit on the comfortable patio and enjoy the view from afar. A wonderful Healdsburg gem! read more

I have visited this winery twice and both times have really enjoyed the wine. The first time I visited was for barrel tasting in 2019 and a second time this last weekend. We tasted a mix of wines, one white and several reds, with each one having a distinct quality that made it unique and more interesting than the last. This last weekend we ended up taking the plunge and joining the wine club, which I would absolutely recommend if you are looking to explore Sonoma wine country. The unique thing about this single membership is that it gives you access to several different wineries throughout the Sonoma area as well as to 2 bed and breakfasts and a restaurant in Healdsburg. Another great feature of Matrix is that you can bring your own picnic/snacks! You can stop by a local deli or bring some snacks up from home. read more

We showed up pretty randomly for a flight of wine. We don't usually go to the Sonoma Valley, typically we're in the Napa Valley. The Pinots were all nice and fruity. All drinkable wines in the flight. We got an extra pour of a nice estate reserve. We bought a few bottles of these, joined the wine club and got some winery caps. Saywer was very informative and helpful, point us to the family wineries for the next day. Complimentary tasting for wine members Kaching! The view is very relaxing, overlooking a lagoon. Covered tables, a nice breeze, plenty of parking. Saywers friendly dog comes by to greet you. read more

Our second stop of the day and another Wilson Family wines winery. They were under construction for a new tasting room so the make shift tasting room was not as lovely as some but surely their new room will be grand overlooking their lovely grounds. The entranceway is quite lovely as you can see. We tried a few of their wines and liked them alot - the Rose of Pinot from Bacigalupi grapes was floral and tart. We really loved the 2013 Reserve Pinot Noir from the same grape growers - yum, though a tad steep for my wallet at $68 - but for pinot lovers, probably worth it. Our server Kristina was lovely, helpful and knowledgable - made for a great experience. And don't you just love their logo gal - "Heartbreak Queen" - perfect. Highly recommended and would be a lovely place for a picnic. read more

The new expanded tasting room looked great. Basically they about doubled the size of the old tasting room. It didn't feel near as crowded as in the past, although we were the only people there that weekday morning so that may have had something to do with the feeling. The young lady pouring the tastes proudly explained what they had done in between telling us about the different wines we were sampling, mostly pinot noirs. We thought we were going to be able to taste a zinfandel from the same vineyard that we had bought bottles of from a different winery. Turns out the family owns two separate properties and the different grapes go to the different wineries. It was an enjoyable tasting. We bought bought 2 bottles of the 2014 Boschetti pinot noir to bring home. read more

Sure this might not be the most beautiful winery with the best view and sprawling landscape but, in my opinion it is the one with the best wine. Every time I come here I get excellent customer care. Smiles greet you at the door, they always give you that extra pour and they never rush you out. They are known for their pinot and it isn't hard to see why. Their wine maker is absolutely brilliant- her wine tells a story from each sip. It is mostly fruit forward wines, with beautiful legs and no tannins- which definately is my favorite. They also came out with a new bubbles. I am not the biggest fan of sparkling wine but this one was very nice- not overly sweet and easy to drink. If you happen to be exploring wine country I would 100% put Matrix on your list. read more
