From the start, when I spoke with Vicky, who answers the phone, to John, the adjuster who came with high tech equipment and prepared a really good and thorough estimate, to Jason, the owner, I felt I was dealing with the best. After Harris Claims started to represent me, my insurance company became a lot more responsive and ended up covering for all the damage. These guys are not only professional and extremely good at what they do, but they are also very nice, pleasant people to work with. I'm so grateful for all their help and all their fine work.

Octavio from Homestate reached out and put forward conditions that I firstly remove my review and secondly I meet them in my bank, and then they will take the bank checks ( (which means they will immediately cash my check without me receiving my payment)). I am so tired of dealing with Octavio/Homestate that I am thinking about closing my claim with the insurance company and replacing my roof out of pocket. Don't make the same mistake as I made. This company is JUNK!! ------------------------- DO NOT sign a contract with this company unless you are ok with sub-standard work on your roof! This company represented me in a roof damage claim to my insurance provider. After approval of the claim, Homestate offered to put cheap IKO shingles on my roof, with no warranty on their work. When I asked for warranty, I was told that they do not offer it and I can buy it separately for additional price. For lesser cost than Homestate, I have other roofing companies who are certified (through roofing manufacturers) and gave me quotes for roof replacement with much better materials like GAF, Malarkey etc. They are backing their work with 10 years of labor warranty. Since Homestate wasn't willing to stand behind their work, I asked them to take their 10% adjusters fee and let me use a different roofing contractor for the work. They have since withheld endorsement of my insurance checks for 6+ months now. They say I should pay them first through Certified Checks and then they will endorse my insurance checks. I have offered them regular bank check but they refuse to take it. They also refuse to take their name off the claim and I fear that they will keep adding more to the insurance claim to make money, which could result in insurance company dropping my policy and me as a customer. My recommendation would be to stay away from Homestate and find yourself a proper roofing company that is not a storm chaser!

The result is, water has been slowly dripping into my living room wall and everything is completely rotted behind the drywall. I would have never known unless I noticed a little discrepancy in the paint sheen around our crown molding. At the time, Homestate was doing several roofs in my subdivision. I have let all of my neighbors know to check their roofs. If they left our roof like this, I am sure there are others. We initially had red flags (they filed the initial claim 3 times incorrectly and our insurance company that we never had a claim with, dropped us). I could have been understanding but the way they handled the situation after I informed them is the worst business interaction I have ever had. I offered to send them all of the estimates and give them the contractor numbers so that they could verify that everyone is saying it was their poor workmanship that caused this. The owners response was, I will send someone out to look at it if you pay me $250. I have $8,000 worth of damage and endless pictures from before they did the roof. He eventually said he would come out and replace the piece of roof that HE damaged but nothing else.

So, if you're reading this, we have something in common. I will try and be as succinct as possible (almost impossible for me) The date was September 26, 2024. I live in Saint Petersburg Florida and the reports were coming in that hurricane Helene would hit my area. I have been living here for 8 years, so after living through 8 years of hurricane seasons and hearing about the big one that would hit Tampa Bay this year, I shrugged my shoulders and decided to stay in my house. That evening the winds were blowing the waves in the bay crashing against the sea walls. No big deal, I've seen it before. My wife, my dog and I were all tucked in bed safely knowing that my full house generator would kick in if the winds got too bad. All of a sudden, I started getting cold and wet and realized that there was water up to the top of my bed. UH OH. At day break after the hurricane subsided and I was able to get to my front door. I realized that we had over 3 feet of water in the house. This was the most catastrophic event in my life and in Tampa Bays life. I quickly called my friends to come and rescue us. My cars were flooded and we were trapped. My brother called me that morning to see how we were doing. One of his best friends is a 20+ year retired public adjuster (I had never even heard of one). His exact words to me were... "Don't even think about dealing with your insurance company without hiring a public adjuster". He gave me Ron's number at A. Schoeneman & Co. This had to be the best advice I had ever gotten from my big brother (I am in my 60's); I could not imagine dealing with all of this without the help of Ron and his team. I watched all of my friends going crazy dealing with their insurance companies (writing lists of their stuff etc....) I also listened to some of the settlements they were getting. How would I rebuild? Ron's team came to my house the day my insurance companies' adjuster was there to evaluate my losses. The details of my belongings being logged for hours upon hours. Once I saw the report that Ron and his team submitted to my insurance company, I finally was able to breath. The details were astounding! Finally, the settlement came in. It was pretty much exactly what I "valued" my belongings at. So, if you jumped to the end of this review. Here is my recommendation to you. If you made it through your catastrophic event and are ready to call your insurance company. Stop reading this and pick up the phone and Call A. Schoeneman & Co. you will not be sorry. This is what they do. They speak insurance (trust me you don't)! I have given Ron permission to give out my phone number if you want to speak to me about my experience.

I talked with several of these folks but it didn't seem like I could trust any of them. Looking up their less than great reviews confirmed my gut. Then I met JT Public Adjusters; in large part due to Matt Uliverie's upfront and honest approach I decided to go with them. They took care of the insurance side of things for me and got the whole roof replacement covered. Shoutout to Matt Ulivieri who was fantastic throughout the entire process. There was a separate issue caused by the crew during the installation, but when I called him, Matt didn't hesitate -- he had someone come out to fix it ASAP - with no hassle, no excuses. That kind of responsiveness truly matters and sets them apart. I'm still waiting on the warranty paperwork, and we'll see how the roof holds up over time, but based on everything so far, I'd definitely recommend Matt and JT Public Adjusters to anyone dealing with storm damage.

The insurance company continuously state, they cannot communicate with the adjuster. Then they begin trying to push the claim to go into litigation using their attorneys, skipping the mediation process. Their accounting department is less than reliable, for the insurance sends them payments that if you're not keeping track, they don't send the payment checks accurately. Lastly, they issued me a check that got returned for none sufficient funds. Not the company to entrust such sensitive matters like your home & any claims that must go through the homeowner insurance.
