My back glass was smashed to pieces on Saturday. The national competitor wanted a TON of money to fix it. I called Charlie, at 9 a.m., and he assured me that he'd have the black glass for my car ready to be installed within the hour. Sure enough, not only did Charlie have the glass ready, but he had the car ready BEFORE an hour. My first experience with Matrix was over 5 years ago - replacing a windshield on an old car. I am so glad I remembered their info, because my experience today was just as great as the first time. After watching a tiny crack in my windshield spread to two feet long in a matter of minutes, I hunted down the info from a friend (thanks, Susan!) on Matrix. They quoted me a (competitive!) price over the phone in minutes and let me know I could come in whenever it was convenient. When I arrived, I was greeted very warmly, and they got to work on my car, leaving me to enjoy a movie, read from their bookshelf, or enjoy their free arcade (DigDug!). Once the windshield was replaced, I was walked through all the information on when I can take the tape off and also given details about the other services they offer. I also overheard several other customers talking to their mechanics and was impressed with their honesty and friendliness. I had my transmission mess up on my vehicle on July 4th and was stranded with a great friend on the highway,,My friend finally called someone she knew from MATRIX AUTO CENTER/GLASS..My vehicle was then towed from CASA GRANDE to TUCSON ARIZONA..It needed a REBUILTRANSMISSION so I was informed by ROD to call another company and purchase the rebuilt transmission and have them deliver it to them in which they would install it..Transmission was delivered to them and installation was done.. By this time I was back in LOS ANGELES since I had business affairs to tend to..They had my vehicle for two weeks and when the vehicle was done I took the GREAYHOUND BUS back to TUCSON ARIZONA excited to get my vehicle..When I got to MATRIX AUTO GLASS( WHICH REALLY DONT SAY THEY FIX TRANSMISSION) When I went to pick up my vehicle it took the owner 15 minutes just to pull up my vehicle from the rear which was odd since its a small shop(I REALIZED LATER IT TOOK THIS LONG BECAUSE THEY HAD TO BANG ON THE SHIFTER TO GET IT INTO GEAR TO DRIVE)..The owner explained to me he did not know much about what was done to the vehicle since he did not work on it that ROD worked on it..Ok..When I went to get and start my vehicle the vehicle would not start and immediately that was A RED FLAG!!!! My vehicle was on the street literally and I had to run in and get the owner and ask him whats going on with my vehicle..He gave me the explanation that I had to HIT HARD ON THE STICK SHIFT to get the vehicle into gear!!! ( REALLY) Ive sold cars for 13 years and NEVER HEARD of such nonsense!!! I then informed him that A FEW MINUTES AGO you didn't know ANYTHING about my vehicle but now you know a lot about my vehicle as he continued to give blame to someone else..I informed him that I did not appreciated being LIED to..He took the vehicle to the back and did something to the vehicle in which when he bought it back out to me it was somewhat temporary appeared to be fixed..I asked him then WHY DIDNT THEY DO THIS THE FIRST TIME and no real answers but a round of excuses.I then took off and was on IRVINGTON and ALVERNON and and the vehicle after stopping at a store would not START at all and would not go into gear...I then again called them and asked them to come and get this DAMN CAR because by now I was FRUSTRATED and had caught the bus from LOS ANGELES to get my vehicle...He finally showed up and slammed on the shifter again and got the car into gear and I Immediately followed him to the shop..He took my vehicle to the back yet again the SECOND TIME and came back with a fixed vehicle( OR AT LEAST I THOUGHT)..I drove the vehicle and made it to LOS ANGELES and along the way I was afraid to turn the vehicle off and left the vehicle in NEAUTRAL when I got gas for fear of being left stranded on the 10 highway..Four days later when I got into my vehicle to conduct business my vehicle would start but would NOT go into gear in which a rage came over me and I immediately contacted ROD in which he gave me the run around and I had to hang up on him and here we go with now with the LEGAL ISSUES!!! THEY WERE UNPROFESSIONAL-LIED TO THIS CONSUMER-GAVE ME THE RUN AROUND and certainly did not follow up on me even after I informed ROD how disappointed I was in which I'm sure he talked over with the owner,,I have attempted to call the owner and await his call...After finally calling me back the owner became rude and obnoxious and starting swearing since he LOST FULL CONTROL of the conversation and certainly this client..I.HOW UNPROFESSIONAL!!!! I recently had an autoglass emergency with my older car. Charlie the owner was very gracious in every effort to help me regain my windows integrity. This was so important to me due to changing weather, and the type of area I live in. Because my car was so old he had to call around to different suppliers to find just the right part to repair my window. Most people in the industry would have given up long ago, not Charlie! Although, I had to return to his shop which he told me up front I was able to get a quality affordable window repair job. Charlie has been in the business of window repair and tinting for a long time, he knows his windows and he is usually able to get you an answer in a timely manner his estimates are affordable and go toward the repair in most cases. The shop is older so the back door to the repair department does make noise, so if your sensitive to that be aware especially if you are a military veteran that is familiar with the sound of impacts. the windshield I had replaced was fine, except I can hear the wind through it while driving from the weatherstripping that wasn't replaced right. Oh yeah, when it rains, it leaks at the top. I didn't file a complaint because I didn't want to take the time to go there again so they could mess something else up like Desert Crank and Engine did since they are in the same building and that is the only reason we chose them was because the car had just been repaired there. By far the best experience I've had with a mechanic shop in my entire adult life. Came in needing an engine swap and they beat everyone's price including a so called friend. I threw a wrench in their system and asked if the car could be ready a day prior to what was agreed upon since I needed to drive it out of town that Saturday for work. Desert Crank stayed late after hours to make sure it was ready the day prior. After they replaced the engine I was in need of a new battery since the one I had was dead for sitting so long. Rod called around to get me the best deal possible and ended up beating everyone including Amazon where I had purchased my battery before. I am not happy at all with the quality of work I received at Desert Crank. To begin with we had a new engine installed which took over two weeks to coplete. From the very first day it never ran right and ran hot enough to boil over. Then they put another engine in which took another two weeks, and a few days later the check engine light was on. We paid to have our transmission serviced at the same time as the first engine was installed and just found out that they never serviced it, but someone did manage to overfill it with motor oil whick will really ruin a transmission. I would not recommend this shop to anyone who wants the work done right. read more

Had engine rebuilt by them. (A) Suppose to take three days, took nine.(B) Sloppy work, over torqued bolts, broken parts. (C) Dumped R12 refrigerant on ground because they do not have equipment to recycle it and would not transport it to a shop that could do the work properly like they said they would .(D) Installed vacuum hoses improperly resulting in melted hoses 1 day after rebuild. They refused to fix. (E) Left me stranded when belt tensioner broke two days after reinstalling engine and would not honor warranty. Vehicle could not be driven.
