Matosian Dental has been nothing more than a God send to my family. He is my youngest son's Prosthodontist. As an adult my son was suffering with malformed teeth due to chemotherapy as an infant. Dr. Alex J. Matosian, along with others, were able to create and reconstruct my son's mouth. He is now free of pain and is able to eat foods he could not eat in the past. Yet, the greatest thing is just seeing my son smile. He never smiled because that is just how much his teeth were messed up. My son's new smile is a real confidence builder. I will recommend to anyone who asks, "you should see Dr. Alex Matosian as your prosthodontist". I would like to add that the office atmosphere is very pleasant and soothing. read more

I recommend Dr. Alex Matosian for all your prosthetics needs. I came to Dr. Matosian with a very complex dental problem and he exceeded my expectations. Dr. Alex Matosian took the time to talk through my situation and the various outcomes that could take place. He prepared me for the worst outcome but at the same time set me up to succeed. He took the time to call me the night before my procedure to emphasize his concerns and prepped me for my visit. I knew I couldn't trust just any Dr. with my problem. I knew it had to be someone not only highly skilled, but possessed excellent communication skills and was emphatic. Dr. Alex Matosian and his assistant offered all those qualities. I am grateful I was referred to this office. Thank you for your service! read more

Super Nice staff. Super clean office. Paid parking. The Matosian father and two sons run a professional dental practice here in La Mesa. Awesome staff include Pam & Leticia at the front desk and Linda assisting Dr Alex Matosian. I have been going here for caps for my new implants where a couple of molars went haywire. Understand that I am the biggest baby in the world and I don't like going to the dentist, yet I have returned for 2 caps, 2 cavities and to repair a cracked filling. If you have a choice where you can go, I recommend this sincerely warm and highly competent family operation. read more

Matosian Dental - Christmas Decorations! Yay! - General Dentistry Near Me - La Mesa, California

I highly recommend Dr. Alex Matosian. He has been a lifesaver for me after experiencing an unfortunate infection on a tooth that had been worked on by a different dentist years prior. The tooth needed to be removed and he was able to promptly treat my infection, make me a temporary looking tooth (I call it a flipper, but I don't think that's the correct term) and now some time later after a bone graft and some healing I have a beautiful tooth implant that looks and feels like a natural tooth, only is way stronger. The whole process at Matosian Dental was seamless, starting from the kind care at check in to feeling comfortable in his chair. And trust me I have a STRONG fear of the dentist and I've never experienced that once with Dr. Alex. They truly treat you like you are a part of their family. He explained the whole process in detail to me and answered all 500 of my questions. He never rushes and is meticulous with his work. Being a busy hairstylist, I look in the mirror a lot, so I appreciated his eye for detail. It's not everyday I write reviews, but I truly feel a lot of people out there are in search of a good Dental group not only to trust but to feel comfortable at and at Matosian Dental I finally found that. Thank you for making me feel like family Dr. Alex! read more

George Matosian is the absolute best dentist. I have been going to him for 40 years. I recently had George do veneers for both my upper and lower arch. A huge thank you to Michael for making the veneers. I had a very difficult case as my teeth were a grayish color caused from tetracycline given to me when I was a child. Michael and George were able to give me an absolute beautiful smile. I get compliments all the time, even from other dental professionals. A big thank you to Lori for all her expert help. The entire Matosian team will treat you like you are part of their family, providing you with expert dental care and compassion. read more

Dr Alex matosian is the man!! I wouldn't trust anyone else with my dental care. His treatment and empathy towards his patients is far and above any dentist I've ever had. His attention to detail and calm demeanor is amazing and exactly what I need. He will have me as a patient for life! Thanks Dr Alex for making my dental appointments a pleasant experience that I actually look forward to! read more

I've been going to Doc Matosian for over ten years now. I had a serious mess going on in my mouth when I first went to see him. Over the years he has made my smile shine and my mouth happy! Like the other person said...I actually look forward to going to see George and his "family" lol. I truly feel like I'm a family member since I've been going and throughout the years. I am very grateful for ALL of them and the positive energy I get every visit. When I met my girlfriend (now my wife :) I sent her over to see George and the crew (she had Western stinkin dental!) and she has never had better work ever! To any of the people complaining about prices...you get what you pay for my friends. George does it right the FIRST time. No shortcuts..no cheap quick fixes. It gets taken care of properly and is the most pain free than ANY dentist I've ever been to. Dental insurance doesn't pay for much anyhow so I don't bother carrying it. So I pay everything out of pocket here..and I can tell you I am happy to! Just remember...you get what you pay for! Don't go to anyone else...George and family are the best at what they do and will always have our business and I always recommend him to friends. Just to let you know my commitment to these guys...we live in Fallbrook about an hour away. I don't care. :) read more

Wow. I didn't know you could write a review for a dentist. But after reading the only other review from Ashley K., I feel in the interest of fairness that I must contribute my 2 cents worth. My family has been going to Dr. Matosian for 10+ years. I've had some major work done and have no complaints. I've had periodontal problems for years and through his and his hygienist's care and attention my "pockets" are reduced to a level I haven't seen in years. Other dental pros have seen his work in my mouth and notice that it is quality stuff. If someone's prime factor in choosing a dentist is price, then you should get prices up front, not complain about them after the fact. George (that's what he prefers to be called) is not the cheapest dentist in town. He has an established practice with an established client base and can charge more for his quality service than some new guy just starting out. I feel the quality is worth the price. My experiences have always been positive, not always pain free, but seriously, what dentist can claim to be pain free. Oh, and the staff, especially the receptionist, is about as nice and polite as you could find anywhere. It is a family atmosphere where everyone is treated like family. And that is a good thing. read more

The best dentist in town! I hated going to the dentist before I went to Dr. Matosian. He is so gentle and he explains everything that he is doing. My teeth look and feel great. I must mention the ladies who work there. They are so nice and helpful. They make you feel so at home. I don't dread going to the dentist anymore! read more

If you are looking for a highly skilled, intelligent, compassionate, mostly pain free comfortable and friendly dental experience....Go Matosian!!! And that should be enough for a review. But I have much more to express in case someone wants more information. I read the reviews of the Matosian Dental group a year ago when I first started my dental work there. And I found them positive. But I'm a bit skeptical of reviews, as who knows if the reviewer is a friend or a relative just beefing up the reviews, or if truly a patient. However, after a year, I have learned that all the positive things stated in the reviews are absolutely accurate about the Matosian experience. As other folks, I have spent a great deal of time in dental chairs over the years. The Matosian experience is quite different from any other. Right from the get to there was a family ambiance in the office.....warm, friendly, fun, caring... all while very professional. And it is a family. The father, Dr. George; a son, Dr. Alex, the prosthodontis and magician; another son, Michael, the ceramist and artist (truly an artist with a degree in design which he applies to his skill as a master dental ceramist.) Pam, the mom, works in the office; as well as other relatives at times. The rest of the staff, Leticia, Elisa, Lori, et al are like extended family. Linda, Dr. Alex's right hand (and left hand also) assistant is top notch. She is smart, fun, attentive, and very caring. That sets the stage for the most amazing dental experience. If I am starting to make this sound like fun, it has been. I never dreamed I would look forward to going to the dentist, and that has also been stated in other's reviews. So I'm really not a masochist. In fact, I have felt so comfortable in the chair that I have dozed off a few times. When I went in a year ago, my teeth were a real mess. My front teeth had broken off and previous cosmetic work was really ugly and unbecoming. Thus I didn't have much faith in cosmetic dentistry and I was frustrated. Well, I now have a full mouth of beautiful teeth and a great smile that I have always wanted. All without pain. Truly, no pain! The first thing I appreciated about Dr. Alex is that he knows how to inject anesthesia without inflicting significant pain which has always made me dread going to the dentist. It is a skill all dentists should be required to learn, IMO. To confirm comments from other reviews: Dr. Alex describes the whole process in detail as he goes along. Never have to guess what he is going to do or is doing. All questions are patiently and satisfactorily answered. He has an amazing calm demeanor. Never rushes and is meticulous. He is cheerful, gentle, kind, genuinely caring, with a great sense of humor. For both Dr. Alex and Michael, 'perfection' and 'patient satisfaction' is the goal. I say....Go Matosian!!! read more

Dr. Matosian and his staff are great. After having some very bad experiences with other dentists I had become jumpy about going. After my experiences with Dr. Matosian my anxiety is pretty much gone. The quality of care and his patience with me was awesome. read more

My family and I have been going to George for over 25 years. He and all his staff are the consumate "professionals" and I would never go to anyone else. His staff is caring, courteous and they all treat you like family. I highly recommend George Matosian's Dental Group and you will never regret going to their office for treatment. read more

I have only lovely things to say about Dr. George, his work and his staff. I needed quite a bit of work done after neglecting my dental health for years. I had a bit of anxiety going into the process but Dr. George did excellent work. He was personal, his entire staff so warm, and they took great care to ease my apprehension. I also appreciated that we were able to make a personalized treatment plan, cost wise, for work that needed to be done. They contacted insurance prior so I always knew upfront what I would need to pay. Now, a year after having all necessary work done, I elected to have some cosmetic work done on my front teeth. I am so pleased with the results; Dr. George did excellent work. I also need to say that I love my dental hygienist, Lindy! read more

Best Dentist in town hands down. I've been going to George for over 20 years now. George takes pride in his work and does it to perfection. You'll never have any rework here, George gets it right everytime. Never any issues with billing or insurance. Great environment, office staff is always looking out for your best interest. George, i've been very blessed to have as my Dentist. Keep up up the great work it's always great to come in and catch up with all the family. read more

I just got my bill from this dentist- AFTER insurance, I had to pay $86 out of pocket. My insurance is quite generous, and will pay a maximum of $96 for the exam, $108 for xrays, and $93 for the cleaning. Matosian charged $175 for the exam, $115 for the xrays, and $93 for the cleaning. I called my insurance thinking something must be wrong, as this is my first time at this dentist. With all the other insurances I've had in the past, I've never paid out of pocket before at my awesome dentist back home. Insurance told me that to give an example of how "ridiculous" Matosian's prices were- the average dentist in this area charges $23 for the exam. Matosian charged $175! I then called the dentist office to figure out what went wrong, and I got some attitude and comments about "quality" being reflected in the price. My hygienist was visiting with her daughter standing in the doorway while cleaning my teeth. Not to mention it was the only painful cleaning I've ever had. The receptionist said that the initial visit is 2 hours long. I didn't time it, but I was there way less than 2 hours, and about half of that was waiting while everyone was visiting with the dentists family who was in town for the holidays. Very very disappointed in this dentist. If I'm going to have to pay $86 out of pocket, I want quality. Not to mention their xray machine is the most archaic piece of garbage I've ever seen at a dentist. The bite wings are 4 inch pieces of plastic that are completely painful- not like the disposable bite wings that have been around for the last decade. I left this place in pain, my teeth didn't feel as clean as they do at other dentists, the receptionist is rude, and the equipment is from the 60s. Avoid. read more

My inner 8 year old self would hurt me for saying this, but I actually look forward to going to the Dentist at Dr Matosian's. I don't know if it's the friendly family atmosphere, or the free toothbrush at the end of the visit, but there's always a positive vibe in the office, and the staff is always professional. I first came to see Dr Matosian after my previous dentist said I needed 5 cavities filled after already having 3 fillings the previous visit a few month earlier. After being suspect of these cavities actually existing, I went to see Dr. Matosian on a recommendation from a friend. A quick exam from Dr. Matosian showed I had no cavities at all, saving me hundreds of $$s. I quickly switched over, only to have another incident where I avoided loosing a tooth, when Dr. Matosian salvaged a rotted filling from a previous dentist. These instances proved to me that Dr Matosian has my best interest in mind. If you don't have a good Dentist already, check this guy out. read more

George S. Matosian is the only dentist I will see. I hadn't been to a dentist in years, and finally when I was ready I was referred to Dr. Matosian. Needless to say, a lot of work needed to be done. Dr. Matosian took the time to write me a complete oral health review, so that I could have for my records a statement of what needed to be done in order to keep my mouth healthy and my smile pretty. I completely trust Dr. Matosian with my dental care. He is very thorough, very gentle, and an excellent doctor. read more

I was referred to Dr. Matosian by a friend and I am SO GLAD I found him and his team! I've been going to him for the past couple years. The atmosphere of the office is very friendly and family-oriented. Dr. Matosian is very thorough and he is happy to explain everything in detail. He is conservative in his treatment recomendations, which I really appreciate. He only focuses on what needs to be done. Unlike other dentists I've been to who wanted to replace my functional silver fillings and crown, just for the sake of aesthetics. I'm not worried about how the back of my teeth look! Dr. Matosian caught a gum infection that two other dentists had completely missed. He can do amazing cosmetic work too. I wanted to get the chips in my front teeth fixed that I got in a car accident. Dr. Matosian used composite bonding to fix the chips and close in a gap I had between my two front teeth. He gave me a whole new smile and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!! Ask him to show you my smile's before and after pictures! I had no idea a new smile would mean so much to me and make such a difference! Dr. Matosian isn't a "preferred provider" with my PPO insurance, so I have to pay more out of pocket for all of his services, but I am willing to pay extra to stay with him and his team. I have never been happier with a dentist! I highly recommend Dr. Matosian! read more
