Great learning atmosphere, flexible pick up and drop off times, my kids love it, teachers are friendly and patient, math is improving.

I enrolled my child in Kumon (Daly City) for 2 years, and my child would come home in tears, drowning in all the homework assignments they gave. During the orientation, I was forced to sit through a 2.5 hour presentation from the owner at that branch, like it was some kind of ridiculous time share. Kumon was a terrible experience for our family. They make the kids miserable with all of the excessive work and the learning program is based on repetition. This method might work for some kids, but it didn't work for mine. Fast forward- I was apprehensive about Mathnasium (summerlin) because I didn't want to repeat the same mistake. Eli was extremely helpful, explained the program thoroughly, and I did not have to sit through a "sales-y presentation" for 2+ hours. I loved it, the orientation was efficient, straightforward, and to the point. Mathnasium offers a personalized approach customizing programs based on the needs of your child. All the instructors are kind and professional! After a few months, the grades went up, I could see the results, and my child has more confidence in Math. We go to the one in Summerlin and it has worked wonders for our daughter. She went from a 'c' in math (and struggling to have that) to an 'A' at the end of the school year. She had no confidence in math class and complained of not liking the teacher. She ended the year with total confidence, raising her hand in class, and suddenly her math teacher became her favorite teacher. Our sons (4th grade, 2nd grade) have been doing Mathnasium for a few months now and they love it ! They actually ask to go! Sign up was smooth and Eli was extremely helpful and easy to work with . It's an hour of Math at a time and no work or packets expected to be done at home; which is unlike what we have done in past. The location is clean, organized and run very smoothly. They also encourage the boys to bring in their math homework if needed which is nice because they can reinforce what is being taught in class. This Mathnasium is awesome. Made even more awesome by Sophie, the manager. She's amazing with children of all ages. It was seriously impressive to watch her interacting with kids in all grades including my five-year-old. You know all the tricks to keep him engaged, even bringing out a large teddy bear as a reward incentive. She was great at explaining how the program works, step-by-step including the online scheduling. When I had trouble, she answered my texts even after hours. This girl is seriously a dynamo. The tutors were great. They split their time with a few kids but never more than a few at a time. I love Mathnasium, My kids were really behind because @ the old school didn't allow teacher to teach Math until March. My kids held behind so far away. I took them out of this private school and put them in Public School. The struggle was real. I enrolled them in Mathnasium. Mathnnasium, it is a Math school. They don't help them to do their homework. Mathnasium just help them to understand what they did not learn or understood. My daughter is having A and finally understand Math, my soon still struggle. I am a big believer in helping my kids achieve the strongest math foundation possible during elementary and middle school, to set them up for a positive high school experience. This center is awesome-- they assess the kids, provide work in areas that are more deficient and they re-assess the kids routinely so that you can actually see if they improved or not. My daughter has used Mathnasium for two years now. Last year with distance education she felt overwhelmed with essentially trying to teach herself honors geometry. By week three of the school year she was behind. The tutors at Mathnasium helped her restore her confidence and skills. This year we were happy to keep the service. She had many substitute teachers first quarter this year and was struggling to keep a B in her algebra 2 course. With the help of her tutors at Mathnasium and the return of her classroom teacher she brought that grade right up to a high "A" second quarter. Mathnasium has given her the support she needs and she is able to recognize when she is truly ready for a quiz and an exam. This to me is more important than a letter grade. If you sign up for Mathnasium, be very prepared to overpay. There is zero flexibility. When they say, you have to use your sessions during a certain pay period, they mean it. There will NEVER be flexibility regardless of circumstance. It is frustrating when there is a holiday weekend, or they call a game day and do not have regular instruction, or the summer hours change. They make zero accommodations for clients that have had multiple children there for an extended time. I would have hoped that the tutor would say, "Hey, you seem to always come on Saturdays/Sundays at the same time, and just so you are aware- there will be no class next week. Did you know that?" Instead, if you are not reading their emails, which also come with many ads, you will not know these changes. You will definitely miss your window to have class. And if this happens at the end of the month, you will not have time to make up the class. If you are okay, with losing money on occasion, then you might feel that this is acceptable. As working parents making a sacrifice to pay for this program, it did not work for us. read more

We decided to check out Mathnasium when our son started struggling a little in math at the end of 5th grade. Knowing that having a solid base is important, and not feeling confident in our ability to teach him ourselves, Mathnasium seemed like a good avenue to try. We love the ability to take him as often as we want, and try to get him there 4 days/wk. She is in Honors Algebra II starting her sophomore year at Palo. She seems to be doing well on her own. If she starts to have any problems at all, I would not hesitate to send her back to Mathnasium. From the first time my daughter attended a class at Matnesium Summerlin, Las Vegas location we immediately fell in love with the structure of that class. I rarely review establishments and businesses on Yelp but I wanted to specifically take the time and write down this review to let you know your teachers at Mathnesium are very well trained, friendly, attentive to details, always around to guide my child and make sure she grasps basic to complex Math problems. Math has never been more fun and simplified thanks to Mathnesium. My child has been to a couple of local Math tutoring classes and nothing is compared to the excellent teaching methods she always gets at Mathnesium. Every child at some point hits a wall with learning. For our daughter, that wall was Calculus AP. For the first month of school, she spent hours each night watching Kahn Academy videos to help her complete her homework. Calculus was like a giant whale swallowing all of her time, energy and confidence. As a busy senior taking four AP classes, running cross country, and applying to college, the biggest gift we could give our daughter was time. And that is what Mathnasium did. Instead of spending four hours watching video tutorials, my daughter spent 1.5 hours at Mathnasium working on her homework and studying for tests. With tutors on hand to immediately correct her mistakes or point her in the right direction, she not only learned the material, but she learned efficiently. Math shrunk back to a class instead of a monster eating up all of her time. Just knowing that she could access Mathnasium six days a week was wonderful.
