They had a "lesson" and I literally watched her organize the cards the entire time instead of teaching and send a super lame video of the kids singing a song pertaining to the "lesson".The kids literally looked bored and honestly confused, I'm assuming with having an iPad in their face to force a song they really didn't seem to know why. Super sad. Children sat waiting for over 15 minutes at a table with nothing to do for crappy food they force feed to them. Literally my child sat and wept, not cried but wept because she literally didn't know what she was doing wrong by not eating the food. I watched on the cameras the entire time! Not once did this lady smile. Not once did she get up and talk to her. Ms.jenny is lazy. She let my child sit by herself on their first day THERE after lunch and weep while her fat ass sat on a preschool chair that was hanging by a thread!( They don't supply teachers with a regular sized chair) I'd expect my child to be introduced to the class atleast to feel more comfortable, teaching 101 ms Jenny hello!!!! they do not care because your child is just a number. This year, I decided to bring my daughter who turned 1 and I'm just at awe on how some of the teachers I've seen all those years ago are still here... now taking care of my second child. It goes to show how much these teachers love their job at Hand in Hand. Even the director of the school is the same. The curriculum is solid, and I can say that confidently as a former CCSD teacher. I sent my daughter to Montessori Vision Academy in Las Vegas, where she was enrolled in preschool…read more One day, she came home and told me, "The teacher said, 'I'm done with you,' and then she told me that teacher said "You need to finish this task -- look, your daddy is waiting outside and crying because you're not finishing it.'" Remember, my child is not even four years old. After this incident, she began arranging her toys and yelling at them, saying things like "Stop! Stop!" This behavior was very unusual for her and raised concerns. I reached out to other parents, and some of them said their children had made similar remarks about the same teacher. I requested a meeting with the preschool director and the teacher. During the meeting, the teacher denied everything, saying my daughter is one of the best students and she would never do such a thing. I calmly repeated the same words the director had used in our first meeting: "We need to trust children -- they are not manipulative." That very day, I withdrew my daughter from the school. To all parents reading this: trust your instincts and your kids.

It's such a bittersweet milestone because this place has been such an important part of her life and ours. I actually worked for Miss Jenn when I was in high school over 20 years ago. I knew firsthand that she runs a tight ship and truly cares about providing the best environment for the children in her care. So when I found out I was pregnant, there was never a question about where my baby would go. Over the years, the staff has become so much more than teachers, they've become family. They've celebrated milestones with us, comforted us through tough days, and loved my daughter as if she were one of their own. Knowing she was safe, happy, and genuinely cared for every single day gave me incredible peace of mind. One of the things I love most is how they encourage each child's unique interests. My daughter discovered her love of arts and crafts here( she's currently the captain for the arts and crafts center), and they have always embraced her creativity, giving her opportunities to learn, create, and express herself. Watching her confidence grow has been such a joy. The special events they put together have also created some of our favorite family memories. From the annual Trunk or Treat to the beautiful graduation ceremony, every event is planned with so much care and love. Those are moments I'll cherish forever. It's quite a change in his academic progress and his enthusiasm for school. He says Yayy every morning when I tell him what day it is, and that's school day. He started reading when he was four and a half. I don't have to ask him twice when it's reading time at home. Somehow Challenger got him to feel like he is having fun when he reads or works on the worksheets. He is able to explain to me errors he makes on his worksheets at school, and able to show me corrections. I am happy with his academic growth at this school. I like that the school entrance is locked at all time. You can't get to the front desk before you get approved to pass through the locked entrance There were couple times I had issues with admin. At first, I didn't know the school required uniform shirt and pants. I only ordered my son uniform shirts and went to buy him pants from a clothing store. One day he came home in someone else's pants with no note to explain why his pants were changed. When I called, that was when I was informed about the mandatory uniform. I was upset at how they made him change into different pants at school, and how they didn't have the courtesy to call me to work out the uniform issue. Another time was when I received a past due notice, and a warning of my son's school termination if the past due was not taken care of by so and so date. I was not made aware of the due. When I called the school to take care of the amount, I was told that it was from the one day that we picked him up late. Ms Brenda always calls me back in timely manner. For how happy my son is at this school, I can look past all the admin issues I have had.

- The RBT slapped my child's hands so hard he jumped up and screeched so loud it echo'ed through…read morethe center. - Janelle Saunders, who was NOT in the room, hollered back at my son to comply. - The supervisor Marissa instructed the RBT to push my toddler back in his chair. - The RBT put both hands on his shoulders and pushed him back in his chair. - My child wouldn't look at the RBT who slapped and pushed him for pronunciation, so they grabbed his faced and FORCED him to look at them. - My feedback, along with his mothers, was that our son didn't need to get slapped or pushed around to learn. Jon Paul Suanders response was to ask me into his office "to teach me a lesson" which included: - the techniques I witnessed are the only way he knows ABA therapy to work. - I can expect this treatment toward my toddler to continue. - He stands firmly behind his RBT's Kudos for JP's blind loyalty to the RBT's, but the 2-week fresh RBT was the least of my concerns. - The supervisor *ESCALATING* the abusive tactics was my #1 concern. - Janelle *BLINDLY* yelling at my son to comply with ANY treatment being dished out was my #2 concern. - One week prior, my mostly non-verbal son *REFUSED* to get in the car torturously crying "I WANT PAPA! I WANT PAPA! I WANT PAPA! (x20)" If this is the treatment they were showing to us parents in person, we were afraid of what they did or were planning to do when we weren't there. From what I recall, Jon Paul insisted that "He doesn't know every Autistic person perfectly, but he is the master at ABA and these techniques were necessary". These are the techniques I witnessed: When the RBT raced my sons hands to the iPad - I heard a CRACKING SOUND, my son JUMPED and SCREECHED, and then I watched my 3yr old toddler rubbing his hands from the sting of being slapped. I consider that a "slapping-technique". Both hands on both shoulders, forcibly pushing him in the chair, I call it the "shoving technique". When my son wouldn't look at the RBT using the "slapping and shoving techniques", she grabbed under his chin and forced him to look at her, I call the "face yanking" technique. It is worth noting that my son had done this particular exercise hundreds of times prior - the only thing new they were showing me were the abusive techniques. I am no ABA expert myself - but as an autistic parent who comes from an abusive household, I know first hand the self-doubting, suicidal, high anxiety behaviors that result from slapping an autistic child as he is desperately trying to follow confusing instructions. There is also a TON of modern science that shows a clear correlation between these traumatizing events and PTSD, depression, and anxiety later in life. The financial fallout from ACW's RBT hitting my child is severe. It's a 3 month wait to the pediatrician, and THEN 3 month wait to another therapists, at best. So now it's private tutors, private pre-school, and no insurance help what-so-ever. Lawyers have made it clear: no bruising, no blood, no interest. And that is why I think it's important to leave this review - the only thing protecting you child from being abused up to the point of bruising is TRUST from their care providers. When I pointed out that their staff was hitting my child, their only response was to try and distract and discredit me. As an example, I wanted to discuss the fact their staff slapped my child in front of me and his mother and what corrective action would be taken, however, Jon Paul Saunders #1 concern was that 6 MONTHS PRIOR I had let my child jump on the bed for 5 minutes after 7 hours of therapy and 30 minutes of crying. This was considered "stepping on the RBT's toes". It became increasingly clear to me that the RBT's feelings were more important than my child's physical safety and mental integrity. Perhaps I do owe an apology to the RBT though - I had accused them of *accidentally* slapping my child, but considering the both of the Saunders, as well as the Supervisor applauded these techniques applied to my toddler I can only assume this is an intentional part of their programming. In all honesty, in the 18 months at ACW I never ONCE saw a child that was 5 years old and ready for kindergarten. I genuinely think the Saunders lack the technical capabilities to educate a child that far and it has been both costly and distressing to find out in this manner. I did NOT find the Saunders willing, wanting, or capable of enforcing the "neutral and positive touches" policy Autism Care West had advertised to me and my wife when we joined. I kindly ask the owners of Autism Care West to review their programming, policies, and procedures to ensure they comply with the "neutral and positive touch" policy they advertise.

They have great hours that works with our schedule and pricing comparable to other daycares we looked at. But here, the kids get great meals all day, which was a huge plus for us. We've had teachers Aniah, Kat, Ale, Chelsea, Isabel, and miciyah, and they are each wonderful. Even the teachers who don't have my son know his name. The playgrounds are great, and the facility is safe. I love that they offer the live camera access. They have learning plans each week and we appreciate that. The school is always clean. I am so happy with our choice in kiddie academy. Highly recommend.
