She entered Sylvan reading at a kinder level (beginning year Kinder.) She left after close to 150 hours of instruction time. Still reading at the same level... They have "benchmarks," that they're suppose to achieve. But their grading system makes no sense, and it will continue to show growth. But there really wasn't any growth. They use the iPads the whole time, the teacher doesn't really teach them. The iPad does. This was the worst investment I could have ever made. I asked them after we found out if she was dyslexic if this would help. They of course said yes. But it didn't. And then towards the end they want you to come in so they can sell you in more hours. I didn't schedule that appointment because I knew i wouldn't continue. They never followed up with us, and we just kind of went on our way. She has since gotten tutoring specific for dyslexia and is doing fantastic!

He was seen by the nurse and was sent back to class. Other children help him throughout the day he spends all day in school came home on the bus. But he made it home dragging himself home. When I came home and saw him I took him to the ER he had a broken ankle. Nobody in school notifies me. when I call the school the next day the nurse said "I call but you didn't answer" I ask if she call the other emergency numbers nurse said no. I told her my son has medical issues and that he can't express some things but she had to see him he can't stand on his own. Legally you can't sue a school that is protected by federal law. And there is nothing the school is going to do but talk to the nurse to just do better.

We had a disappointing experience with Kumon at Harker Heights. I have high regards for teachers generally but Miss Carol at this location is very rude. I tried talking to her couple of times regarding course curriculum for our kid but she always responded back with such a rude behavior. This is not expected from a teacher who is specially in leading position. They will keep the kids at same level for a very long time. To me it seems like a racism, other parents also mentioned in past reviews regarding racism. They should realize that parents do have other choices, we are considering taking our kid to different location. We will raise this concern with Kumon head quarters as well. They should not allow arrogant and rude teachers to run their Kumon franchises. I will not recommend this location of Kumon at harker heights under Miss Carol's supervision.

I spend so much time on business matters because of their mistakes. Another review mentioned they are condescending and rude, which is true. They repeatedly burden their mistakes on the students, and I have to get involved. The only good experience has been with teachers and the registrar's office. However, the registrar's office needs to get up to date with the times and allow students to drop classes online. Business Services, Financial Aid and Advising offices are the biggest hassles. Their billing could be more clear as well. I am college-educated from a private university, and I have a kid at a top-ranking school, and this is not even close to how a university should be run.
