I took the course both times with Mark Alan Robinson. Initially I was steadfast with my engineering "must-solve" mentality and didn't get out of the course as much as I potentially could have 1st time around. The second time was completely different, I took to Marks "unorthodox" approach to viewing problems and solutions to not only make the GMAT more fun, but also taught me the values that CEO's carry with them at all times, but most interestingly, these values were simple enough for a 6 year old to understand. He is very knowledgeable and is very easily accessible outside of class, especially for such a busy individual. His examples usually revolve around people or instances and these tend to stick a lot better than conventional teaching methods (for me personally at least). I highly recommend anybody looking for help with the GMAT to look out for his class. The only thing I'd say is you need to patient and buy into his methods, they may frustrate you initially, but in the longer run, are very valuable information and practices.

( V35, V36, V34, V30, V35....) My math has always been strong (47-49) but something subtle behind the way I was approaching verbal was setting me back. Mark taught me how to look at verbal like math by "decoding the matrix" and after taking 10 hours with him, I suddenly clicked. I feel that Mark's approach to teaching not only helped me look at the GMAT in a different light, but also helped by relating it to my everyday life, making it not as dull and monotonous to study. Mark is very energetic and very personable. He really dug in deep with my weaknesses and accessed how I approached the problems. Some things that he taught me are even applicable outside the GMAT. As mentioned, after I tried many resources and tutors, Mark was the one that finally unlocked my testing to V40. Highly recommend Mark Alan Robinson for private tutoring! After being discouraged and told to aim low by a competing college advisory firm, At Home Tutoring Service encouraged my child to aim high, and my child ended up at my child's first choice Ivy League school. Details: After feeling that I had wasted a sizable flat fee with competing college advisory firm Doran & Scalora (see review of that firm for details), I hired Alexander Wax on an hourly basis after my child's junior year of high school. From the start, Alexandra Wax encouraged my child to aim high, shared insights about college communities that would be a fit or not, identified admissions departments' preferences to guide essay drafting, and provided constructive criticism that pushed by child to produce creative and thoughtful essays. Alexandra's advice always made sense and reflected extensive experience and a broad network of admissions officers. The few times I asked why Alexandra had made a certain recommendation, Alexandra easily explained her reasoning, citing inside sources as well as publicly available information. My child loved working with Alexandra and remained excited and motivated throughout the college application process. I feel Alexandra's service was invaluable and worth-every-penny-and-more! I plan to hire At Home Tutoring Service again when my next child is ready to apply to college.

EDIT: As expected, Neha deleted her response to my original review. I've attached a screenshot…read morebelow. Her actions are highly unprofessional and immature. She clearly doesn't have what to takes to work with students if she cannot even handle a negative review. A response to Neha: Just because someone doesn't like your services doesn't mean that they're a competitor. As with my "infrequent" Yelp activity (although I'd consider seven reviews fairly decent), I'd like to point out that many of your five-star reviewers have far fewer reviews than I have. Yelp even removed one of your raving reviews because it violated their Content Guidelines under conflicts of interest (i.e. it was fabricated by an employee or family member). I would be happy to forward you the email addressing it if you're inclined to respond with, "we are unsure where you read that". Frankly, your responses are embarrassing and childish. I sincerely hope that you treat your regular customers better.

For the price you are paying, the experience at College Shortcuts is truly not worth it. I did the…read moreMentorship/Research Project experience as well as the Application FastTrack. Speaking from the Mentorship/Research Project side, my mentor did not assist me at all with my project. My project was initially a website/program which revolved around the idea of mental health in adolescence. However, that program did not receive much success because my mentor did not help me on the publicity side. As a result, I ended up writing a research paper (on my own!) and got that published. To be clear, this research paper was solely created by me and had no assistance from the college shortcuts side. Now, I knew College Shortcuts would be a waste of time on the college preparation side, but my family and I chose to go through with the Application FastTrack Program (after my awful experience from the mentorship program) because of the ratings and how Neha portrayed that the program would look. When picking your colleges, they do not help you find schools which align with your profile. Specifically, if you are doing any extracurricular activities (or anything outside academics), they do not use those interests as your strengths in finding schools which best match you, or even schools which you have a great shot of getting into. Also, they made me write my essays before the official essay prompts came out. Now, this might have seemed like a good thing because of the practice. However, when the new essay prompts come out, they only go through the essay one time. So, you are left to check and edit the essays on your own. If you want to get another check, they charge per essay. If you feel that you are a good essay writer, you don't need this program because they don't really offer you anything. If you are not a strong essay writer, you can practice on your own or use free resources to help improve your writing. The only thing that they might be able to help you with is the steps to apply to college, but you can easily find those steps on Google for free. My family and I did talk to Neha about our complaints, but she would reword the phrases in a way which made the blame ultimately fall back on us. They took no responsibility for their lack of proper assistance in the college application process. I had to figure out how to apply on my own because College Shortcuts was not providing me with the information I needed to create a strong and successful application. Everything you need to apply to college is now on the internet. You really do not need to waste thousands of dollars on programs which will not benefit you in any way.

Math-A-Matics Tutoring was the only program that called me back within an hour and took the time out to listen. The staff member said normally it is difficult to accommodate a same day session request but she would try her best to make it happen. Excellent customer service! That day after school Mrs. Kimberly came into my daughter's life like an angel. My daughter went from near-failing grades to making "A's" and "B's" in Geometry and Algebra II K-Level. Mrs. Kimberly is a true teacher in all sense of the word. She listens, is very patient, provides positive feedback, and caters her teaching technique to each individual student. Currently, she now tutors my son as well. My kids and I greatly appreciate Mrs. Kimberly and all she has done for us.
