In such a short period, I have seen a ton of improvement in his math skills. He is a kid who doesn't care for school much, but he is happy to go to the Kumon center. The center's operator/owner is a wonderful lady who was also a former Kumon parent. Also, the staff is complied of former Kumon students, which is awesome since most are younger and can really relate to the children. The center is clean and inviting to the children and they are taking extra precautions in order to keep our children safe. The price is also very affordable, much cheaper than hiring a private tutor. If your kid needs some assistance with math and/or language arts, Kumon has got you cover.

We have used this service for the last two and half years and cannot tell you how much we have benefited from the support of the coaches that have worked with our son. His confidence has improved with his writing, learning how to organize his thoughts better when tackling history and English Language Arts assignments. He's doing more than just the bare minimum, including more descriptive language and details. He's proactively creating outlines while reading to set himself up for success when trying to remember details later for questions or discussions. He's gotten better at self-advocacy, reaching out to teachers via email, when he's unsure of how to tackle an assignment or something isn't working correctly vs. just ignoring the issue. I used to be a volunteer teacher at the Washington English Center, and it was one of my favorite…read moretimes of the week. I looked forward to being around people who enjoyed teaching English, and meeting students from all around the world. If I ever came across a family member or friend who needed English support, I would definitely send them here as well. From a volunteer perspective, the Center provides so much support and training for its teachers (who do not need to be professional teachers, so this helps), including a ready-made curriculum and textbooks. Though I've been an ESL tutor in the past, having this institutional support was important for me as I wanted to be well-prepared for my students. The teaching set-up also requires each class to be taught by two teachers, which is very helpful! The students come from all around the world and have many different reasons for being in the program. I loved laughing with them, learning from them (as well as my co-teachers!!), and even learning a few things about the English language myself.
