I don't understand why there are so many negatives. I've purchased almost all my furniture for our desert home from Mathis. Ok, I"ll give you the hovering sales reps. but they didn't bother me. If they want to follow me around for 3 hours while I pick, choose and disregard thats their choice. We had Linda as our rep. and I found her to be very helpful. When I told her I was a slow shopper and was there a way I could just contact her when I've made some decisions? She gave me her cell #. I called as soon as we'd decided and the papers were written up. Delivery was perfect. A week later I realized I needed another end table in t.v. room. Called Linda and she did it over the phone for me! I am perfectly happy with their products and service. read more

Great selection of furniture and brands. No high pressure sales. Gave us time to walk around but reappeared to ask questions. We took the chair from their display and we're able to quickly pick it up in their loading dock area. I bought a lift ring for the chair and we wanted to be sure it fit. The warehouse workers attached it for us. The downside came when we declined to purchase the five year Mathis furniture care plan for $200. The chair we bought was an Ekornes which is a great chair with pretty good warranty plans. It's my third one. The other two furniture stores gave us information on both the brand and the warranty. I thought it was attached to the price envelope and I was surprised to get home and see that it wasn't. I can get the info online but I'm a repeat buyer. What about someone who isn't? We chose the eastern king with a split mechanism because both of us have different issues and we couldn't be more happy with the selections that we made Larry spent so much time making sure that everything was just perfect for us and working out the best deal possible I can't thank him enough! On 11/03/20, we purchased a custom recliner, furniture protection and delivery service for approximately $1,700. At that time, we were told the estimated delivery date was 02/20/21, although "worst case" it would be mid-March 2021. Waiting four months for a recliner to be delivered is excessive, but we agreed to the timeline. At the beginning of March 2021, I called the store to confirm delivery later that month. I was then told the estimated delivery date was now mid-May 2021. This is three months past the promised delivery date of 02/20/21 and two months past the "worst case" delivery date of mid-March 2021. There are several issues with this purchase from Mathis Brothers: 1) The estimated delivery date stated at time of purchase was not accurate; 2) We are now having to wait six months for a recliner delivery; 3) If I had not called the store, I would not have known about the extended delivery date. We were not contacted by Mathis Brothers and informed of the extended delivery date. We have since spoken directly with our salesperson who told us we have the option to cancel the purchase and receive a full and complete refund which we are strongly considering doing. UPDATE 05/24/21: I was contacted by Mathis Brothers who addressed my issue and resolved it to my satisfaction (Thank you). read more

My wife and I worked with Anthony Gonzales and bought 3+ rooms of furniture including mattresses. Process couldn't have been more painless. Delivery guys moved all the old (heavy) furniture out and set everything up with no issues. Subsequently we needed to pick a couple of minor things that they didn't have in stock for delivery (sheets) and also return one item that had some minor imperfections from the manufacturer; no issues whatsoever in getting the items and they came and picked up the the dresser and replaced it, no questions asked. Disabled Veterans beware if you need an adjustable bed to provide comfort from you disabilities. Mathis Bros has a policy that you CANNOT return the adjustable bed if you make a purchase. Be sure to check your sales document as the sales person may forget to mention this policy. What are you going to do with an adjustable bed if you can't find a comfortable mattress? They do have a policy that they will give you "store credit" if you are able to return the merchandise but don't expect to get your money back. You will be able to buy items that you may not need but at least you get something for your money. My recommendation is to go on line and use Amazon or some furniture company that guarantees money back if your are not satisfied. The Mathis policy takes a big chunk out of your fixed income if you are retired.. Also doesn't seem to matter if you have been a customer for 13 years. read more

Made second visit and was very disappointed again! Was looking for a new sofa and had 2 sales people helping us. We were very precise with what we wanted but both sales people ignored our desires and both tried to up sell us and show us furniture we definitely did not want. Why would you show someone a sectional sofa when we had no desire for a sectional? They just ignored us and continued to waste our time. Finally had enough of them wasting my time and left. The only reason I'm giving 1 star rather than 0 is because the salesperson was friendly. I purchased 2 queen size bedroom sets with 2 queen mattresses a month ago, the experience has been awful! When delivery was scheduled I was told all of the merchandise was ready and would be delivered at once. The morning of delivery I was told 2 pieces were in fact not available and would be delivered on a separate date. When the drivers arrived and set up the 2 bedroom sets there was damage to 3 pieces of brand new furniture and damage to 1 box spring. I called customer service who set up a date for the box spring to be replaced. I was told at that time the other damaged pieces would be assessed. At the time of the second delivery for the new box spring and the other 2 items that were missing from the first delivery, the drivers told me they knew nothing about the damaged pieces and were not prepared to assess or repair them and I would need to go through customer service, (which I had done in the first place). After calling customer service again they set up yet another date to have the damaged pieces assessed. A few days later I receive a call stating that instead of assessing the damaged items for repair, they would set up an even exchange, which they should have offered in the first place since everything was purchased BRAND NEW! Now here we a month later from the initial purchase date with the 4th delivery scheduled for this week, yet I am now being told it will be another 2 WEEKS! This has been the worst experience I've ever had purchasing from a furniture company! We purchased a 3rd bedroom set from Ashley Furniture Store the same week we purchased from Mathis Brothers, the experience was wonderful and the merchandise was delivered in PERFECT condition. I DO NOT recommend Mathis Brothers furniture. Take your business to Ashley, they will price match anything and deliver top notch service! read more

We bought some leather chairs for our theatre 3 years ago, we also purchased the furniture protection plan. What a great idea! Recently one of the chairs seemed to be having issues with the leather foot rest, Mathis brothers sent someone out to look at it and within a week they had scheduled a replacement chair to be brought out to our house. We needed a mattress and box spring in a hurry for a house guest and I really did not want to spend a lot of money for something that would only be used for a few days. When we entered the Indio store, I was put off by some smiling zombie type hostess who seemed to be stalking us. Finally, I found the top floor where the discounted items were and we were able to find what we needed for less than the thrift shops, BUT, that was only because of a wonderful salesman named Fidel, who left us alone and allowed us to look at the items at our own pace until we were ready to buy our selection. I've seen several 1-star ratings and, quite frankly, I don't get it. Everything we've purchased there has been top-notch, and the sales people have been very helpful. It is true that they're on you (literally) when you walk in the door. Apparently, that's what they're trained to do by the Mathis boys. They would be well served to let people browse for a minute or two. It's the exact opposite of going into a Lowe's or Home Depot where the sales associates practically hide from the customers. Having said that, I have nothing but good things to say about Richard Vincent, David, and Kyle. They know their products and will help you find what you need while staying in your stated budget. It is true....the salespeople in the Indio store do stalk you as you wander around the store. Especially if both the husband and wife are shopping together. Both decision makers are present as they see it. We walked in the front door and were confronted immediately by the next " up" sales person. We told him that we were there to wander around and see what the store had to offer; that we would come to get him when we were ready to buy. We were engaged at least five times after that by that same person offering "assistance". After that, no matter where we wandered in the store, that sales person was eerily close by, busying himself with some seemingly innocuous task. This occurred upstairs, downstairs, in the storefront, the rear, or any place else for that matter. It was like we were his personal sale and he was protecting his turf and his sales commission. We were going to buy five thousand dollars of furniture but decided not to because we were so uncomfortable with the situation and possibly starting a salespersons argument over the potential sale if we wanted to deal with another sales assistant. We decided to just leave, but as we were leaving, we were again intercepted by this same salesperson before we got to the front door to see if we had made any purchase decisions. The front door is the only entry and exit to or from the store; it is essentially the sales persons cash register. They seemingly rotate as to who is going to work the front door and tag you as you walk into the store .....much like cattle being branded We would have liked to buy their furniture but are now put off by the prospect of returning to the store for another dose of this creepiness. read more

LONG BUT PLZ READ Do not do biz this store unless you wanted to be lied to -your salesperson will tell you there are no chairs in the showroom in your price range but low and behold you find two perfect chairs yourself while she is writing the ticket - but after order is paid for she disappears on medical leave but no one tells you-your delivery date is changed but they call wrong number and you wait an entire day for delivery-when you inquire why you will be blamed while the person speaks to you like a child then you can expect delivery to be postponed a total of 3 times for the convenience of the store -then when it finally arrives it will be wrong and missing the very piece the delivery was postponed TWICE for-when you try to find out where the missing piece is you will be put on hold then hung up on then when you call back you sit on hold again and give up after 15 min but you lose cuz they don't ever call you back-delivery leaves a survey -you go online using up more of your precious time and fill it out -surely they will respond to an unhappy survey -NOPE-not a word so don't bother with the surveys they obviously don't read them-frustrated and pissed you will give up and accept only ONE chair instead of TWO but no you will have to spend more of your time because -of course-they charged me for TWO -how many hours have I spent messing with this -we all make mistakes but this is so anti everything this company claims to be about -I guess you GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR-cheap furniture and lousy service -the delivery guys were great to be truthful-AWFUL SERVICE -minus 5 stars n my view read more
