Excellent service, their staff is helpful and knowledgeable. Prices are fair and their quality average to excellent. Their customer service is phenomenal though, and if there are any problems they are fantastic about helping you. My nightstands were from their "designer" section and made from solid wood but the sides are curved so it was a wood laminate which bubbled on one nightstand within 6 months. They replaced it immediately once I sent them pictures with a new one and no issues. It must have been a manufacturing defect on an expensive piece of furniture, but the service after the sale is what sets them apart and I will always go back. read more

And you were probably given a hard time by the seller because it was expensive and they didn't care about your disappointment and your reasons for wanting to return the item? Well, my partner Larry and I bought an expensive high-end mattress from Mathis Sleep Center and it was not what we thought it would be. The manufacturer turned down our request for a replacement and we thought we were going to have to live with a defective product. Well, I am here to tell you that because of the integrity and skill of our salesman, Ricky Hernandez, that is not what happened -- quite the opposite. Ricky is an extremely capable salesman with no hidden agenda. He is forthright and knowledgeable. Ricky not only listened but he really heard us when we reported the problems we were having. He immediately took charge of the situation and took the burden of having to correct the problem away from us. Ricky worked with Mathis' Customer Service Manager Josh Northam and they had things resolved in only a couple of days and a new mattress was delivered only a couple of days after that! In this day and age, we have all too often seen that the customer is not always right and the salespeople are out only to make a sale. Ricky is a refreshing exception to this. We highly recommend him to anyone who wants honesty, product knowledge, fairness and a non-judgmental attitude in their purchase transaction. I'm on the fence with this place. The showroom is amazing. We were greeted immediately by a saleswoman. You can't get around it, even when you say you just want to be alone and look alone, they follow you everywhere. It's a sales racket with the cycle of the salespeople waiting their turn to attack the customers coming in the front door. Ugh. Our lady followed us asking us all kinds of questions when I finally said, "I think I will go up to the clearance area and you can come and find me in a half hour." She did. While I was up there I found a nice chair (Lazy Boy) with the ottoman on clearance for $290, down from $900. I said I wanted to get it. She went to the computer and said they had two new ones, still in the box I could have at the clearance price. Well, OK then, I took both thinking this was the best deal ever, and it was. The saleswoman tried to get me to special order the matching couch, but that would take four months. No thanks, I said. I did find another couch in the same brand that I liked, but again, months to get it and frankly, after reading the reviews and apparently the delivery department is horrible, I'm not sure I will special order that couch. I don't need to deal with the same issues other people have had in the same situation of these "pre-orders" and delivery nightmares. Amazing customer service .... if you're White. Sadly in 2020 this is still happening, we were greeted just fine at the entrance, but upon going to the Bedroom Section everything went wrong. As my wife and I looked through the selection I noticed all the salesman where avoiding us, Others where greeted right away and got all of their questions answered. It wasn't until we literally had to hunt one down to get noticed, the older gentleman began giving us attitude about the questions we asked and not even 5 minutes into helping us he disappeared and began helping another couple. Annoyed with the situation we went out looking for another sales person, it wasn't until we had to ask the cashier to call someone over. We have been looking for furniture for a few weeks. Looked locally in the Simi and TO areas but couldn't find the "right" couches. Happened to be in the Indio area a few weeks back and stopped in at Mathis Brothers. Randy Davidson greeted us promptly when we entered the store and let us walk around the store without hovering. We finally found the set we liked after walking through their HUGE store. The price was right and we sealed the deal. Normally this would be a three star rating, just OK. This is why we rated them 5 stars. Our furniture arrived as scheduled, however we received one wrong piece. We notified Randy of the error and he notified their customer service. Customer service called and told us we could keep the more expensive piece, however we didn't have room for it. They also told us the chair we originally ordered was backordered to December. !! Thankfully Randy did some inventory review on his day off and found our chair. He coordinated the pick-up of the wrong piece and the delivery of the new piece at a time convenient for us. Randy really went the extra mile to make sure the original mistake was corrected promptly. This review could have been really bad otherwise. We will definitely go back to see Randy when we are looking for our next furniture purchase. He really saved the day as well as our future business. Although far away, we would definitely recommend Randy and Mathis Brothers to our friends and family. The pieces we ordered appear to be well built and are very comfortable. I charged $$75.04 looking at my statement not know what it is was. I simply called spoke to Jermery and he figured it out what it was. He sent me to the cashier. Sales associate Coral greeted us at the door and helped find the right set for us. Coral showed us many options in the style we said we were looking for. Found what I was looking for at Mathis Bros. I did go to 3 other big name furniture stores in the valley. I didn't find anything that I wanted to purchase. I decided that I needed to try Mathis Bros. I walked in and was greeted by Rosario (Rosie). We walked the store, I let her know what my needs were. I saw what I liked. The furniture is very nice and appears to be very well made. Rosie was very patient and helpful. She answered all my questions. I purchased a 6 piece bedroom set, a dining set, a reclining couch and entertainment center wall unit. It was all delivered on the day promised with the white glove set up. I am very pleased with all my furniture. I want to go back for a coffee table and area rugs. The only negative that I found out after the furniture was delivered, is that the colors in the store are not the same in "real life". The store has a lot of special lighting that a home does not. For me, that worked in my favor. The bedroom set that I bought looked like a honey colored wood in the store but at home it is more of a light gray colored wood, which I love! read more

A few months ago we decided to sell our home and move into a new independent living facility named Revel Palm Desert. We explained our needs and she immediately assisted us. She was unbelievably knowledgeable about the contents of the store and was attuned to our needs. She helped us pick out all our furniture, offered unbelievably good suggestions and followed through over a four month period while we waited for our unit to become available. She kept us informed of all the happenings, assisted us with some problem areas and was always helpful and cheerful, even when we were a little grumpy. Okay, sofa disaster update and NEW problem with the 2k memory foam mattress that we also purchased from Mathis Brothers! Well, the replacement sofa (we chose a recliner) for the one that we returned last October, broke! The recliner's motor doesn't work any longer. We have had it for only one year! When my husband called the store to tell them on Monday, customer service said they would send a guy out in 2 weeks to see if they can fix or replace the motor. WHAT? 2 weeks on a broken recliner couch...unbelievable! Tell that to our behinds!! When we ordered the sofa, the salesman said that Mathis Brothers sells the motors individually and would replace any faulty motors immediately. That was a question of ours when we chose the sofa, "what happens if the motor breaks?" Now, not only do we have to wait 2 weeks with an uncomfortable, broken sofa...but the customer service rep told my husband that she doesn't even know if they still carry the motor at all and they might need to order it from the manufacturer. We've done this dance before, it could TAKE MONTHS before the manufacturer ships the replacement motor. As far as the expensive memory foam mattress, it is sagging and hurting my hips and my husband and I purchased a warranty for the mattress (it is 3 years old.) The salesperson told us that the warranty covers the mattress and so we purchased the expensive warranty (a few hundred dollars.) My husband called Mathis Brothers, this time, about the mattress (not the sofa..that was a separate problem) and the sales rep told us that we need to, get this, "take a photo of the mattress with a yard stick and send it to them." She said "the mattress has to be sinking over 1 1/2" in order for the mattress to be replaced!" Okay, WHAT???!! That is utterly RIDICULOUS! After 3 years we shouldn't have to purchase a brand new mattress because the 2 thousand dollar one (that includes the extended warranty that we paid for) that we purchased from Mathis Brothers has started to sag in only a couple of years! I have a very bad back as it is and now I sleep on my hard recliner every night because the mattress has gone so soft and they sold us a bogus warranty plan. This place is utterly RIDICULOUS! You can't make this stuff up! UPDATE: In all fairness, I have to add that today the Mathis Brother's service man, Mike, came over to fix the sofa this morning. For some reason it was a bad connection and he got it to work again instantly. He was a lovely guy. I would love to have him as my employee!! I was going to remove this review from Yelp because Mike, the service guy was such a great guy, and then I decided to keep it up, if anything, for Mathis Bros. to change their repair policy and because they sell USELESS warranties and substandard furniture and mattresses for the prices they are asking. I don't want to be such a critical person but enough is enough! An expensive mattress shouldn't go soft and sag within 3 years! They should last for 8 years, not 3!!! Nor should an expensive sofa's cushions have to be replaced not once, but 3 times within a span of 2 years!! Also, 2 weeks is an awful long time to wait for service of an item that you purchase from their store. Plus, our original salesperson of the sofa told us that Mathis Brothers carried the motors for the recliners in stock. Will I ever go back to Mathis Brothers to buy furniture? No, for all the reasons above...and I will never recommend their store to anyone, ever! read more

So suddenly after You spend Your money there and something is flawed then, by all means, don't call us. I have such issues when The Customer Service Specialist makes it almost a task to actually get help. I really can't understand why I would be told to submit a photo of a piece to be sent as an email and then be told in the same breath that the repairman who would handle it wouldn't be there until a day or two after to even look at said email. I live close enough that maybe Lisa would have suggested bringing in the piece when he would be there would make more sense. It really is hard to say that I would never shop there again but as it stands the Customer Service Division needs an "overhaul" I would think that the "Whole Experience" should be filled with making the customer "Happy" yet this time the ball was dropped. I always try and understand that this time of year can rough on retail but really if Im happy to spend you should be happy to shope with me rather then simply making a sale and running back tot the floor. read more

MB, what has happened to you? We are trying to purchase two sofas and 3 different sales people have given us different pricing for the same darn thing. This is unprofessional and sad. Not to mention, delivery charges of $70 for a 1.4 mile trip? Really? The pricing of your furniture is great and the variety is awesome, but does corporate try to compensate by adding hideous delivery charges? Financing is another joke, 90 days no interest (really it's 60, because credit doesn't accure interest the first 30 days anyway). Most furniture places offer 6 or 12 month no interest if paid in full. We are not rich but we are not poor but most of all we are not fools. This financing stuff is just ridiculous, it'd be nice to see MB get up to par with this. Lastly, we will be pondering if we truly want the sofas and to pay to have them delivered, and if we want to take the lowest quote from the sales reps. We've purchased so much stuff here but the extra charges don't keep people coming back. What ever happened to amazing customer service? I guess MB just lost it.
