One of the best places I have ever been to. I think the problem with the huge differences in…read moreratings is between those who were in the Trauma Disorders Program like me and then all the terrible reviews come from people who were not. I was treated like family here. I felt so comfortable, talking to my therapist 3x a week and my psychiatrist every day. Everyone on this unit had DID except for me but I was never made to feel left out or different, and the treatment was never geared away from me. I made good friends and felt like I was finally understood. Another thing I noticed, if you go somewhere like here you obviously have to be ready to do some work. There were times when I considered my psychiatrist to be the biggest jerk in the world, when I hated the food (other times when I loved it) when I felt like I was being pushed or the staff was being mean (they weren't , they are mental health professionals and know what's good for you). They would wake me up in the morning by yelling at me and I wish someone would have kicked my bed! It's a mental hospital not a vacation. The staff was so good there I felt like I could talk to any of them easily. The only bad thing was that we had just moved floors and we didn't have any art therapy or physical exercise to speak of. Just two medium length hallways to walk up and down which got old really quick. Unfortunately when I got home I had another really bad round of depression hit so I will be going back soon. This time I'm looking forward to it. The Trauma Unit saves lives. I would recommend it to anyone struggling.

You will not leave unchanged, if you leave at all. Read the…read morewhole thing as I will go into detail more. I am still haunted by this place and it has been over a decade. I was sent at 15. I am leaning towards 28 now. I can't remember a lot of my life anymore, but I remember here. The brain remembers trauma to try and make sure you don't get stuck in it again. I will recall the name "Sheppard Pratt" until my body has turned into bone in the ground. It has made me unable to go anywhere for help in fear I will end up back in a place like this again. This has impacted my abilities to get help for the rest of my life. I genuinely was misdiagnosed and sent here, and it almost killed me. I have still not fully recovered and have haunted memories. They will LIE to you. LIE to the parents. They told my parents I would die if they did not check me in, lied to them about conditions, capabilities, and truly is a hell on earth. They don't mention you must request 72 hours in advance to try and get your kid back, by the way, and will lie to get someone admitted and exaggerate their well-being or lack of to scare someone into signing away their child's soul in the name of salvation. They informed my parents that they could handle my panic attacks, nope, they won't do anything. The staff may even make fun of you depending on who it is. They are not equipped to handle emotions and it feels like you're in the Stamford Prison Experiment. You are no longer human. You are something less than. Do you like needles? You have a fear of them, you say? Don't worry, you will have your blood drawn every day! Don't worry, you aren't allowed to stand. Research said refeeding syndrome can happen, for a few weeks, but you're not allowed to move ever. Also it only happens to genuine starved anorexics, but now you are that, plus all the other ED's because they treat you like you are guilty of every crime there! Innocent? NO YOU ARE NOT! Why? BECAUSE WE SAY SO! Get ready to be the toys in Toy Story and lie lifeless on the floor with the light gone from your eyes! That happens to people that are there longer. You will be deprived, ignored, punished, embarrassingly lead around in a paper gown naked and rushed to a two-few minute shower and led to where you are all weighed every single day. I saw a new hire nurse hold back tears over how we were all being treated. Ready yourself for speed eating because they will make you cram your food in faster since 30 minutes starts whether you got your food with then minutes left to until it's over, you'll be threatened with ensure. Yes it WILL be ice cold even if it's a warm meal! But eat it because they're watching. Always watching. Want to mention the food? Even to people at your table? TROUBLE! BAD! YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO TALK ABOUT FOOD! How will this impact you positively? HAH, no it won't. You may need therapy to get over it and will forever hate people observing you while you eat. Why? Because before it came with threats! No one wants the tube up their nose! They will get the tube. I have shared my experience there with people who have been in prison and they rather pick prison. They will take everything you could ever think about harming yourself with so much that it taught me a ton of ways I could off myself- which said feeling will come for you if you're in there. Once you are out of the spot they show parents in, you'll notice that all doors and windows are unable to be opened because of how many suicide attempts they get in there. Death did seem sweeter than being there. A part of me lives there as a ghost. I didn't come out with all of myself. I have gone through a lot of traumatizing things, but would sooner hold the dying and bloody again while and do my own stitches again 200 times before going back there, unless I was going with a torch or a bulldozer. That was the worst decision I ever trusted anyone on in my young life. I rather run into my rapist than go back to that Hell Hotspot. I mean it. This was more damaging and humiliating. Don't trust them. I filled a document with 41 pages of their reviews before I decided to stop. All 1 star.

Type of care, Care quality and Office Experience HORRIBLE!! Unless you have the time to visit your…read moreloved one frequently, I would not recommend or entrust Towson Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center for long term disability. 90 to 95% percent of the long term care residents do not have family members that come to visit with them. What this does is it allows the facility to get away with things like leaving the resident anywhere from 4 plus hours without being changed or checked on. I am specifically speaking about the long hallway long term care on the second floor. The resident's clothes and blankets come up missing once they are sent down to laundry never to be seen again. It also doesn't matter that the resident's name has been written or sewn onto the garments. The residents do not have gowns, wash cloths or towels the majority of the time. My family member was left to lay in a soiled gown for over 3 hours because the CNA/GNA'S said that there were no clean gowns available. I let them know that this was unacceptable and she promised to go to another floor and try and locate a clean gown. How can the nurses do their job if the facility does not provide the necessities that they need in order to care for the residents. The care is DISGRACEFUL on the second floor. The aides are working 13 residents to one aide. Call outs are a constant thing so the residents are the ones left to sit in their own urine and feces. The hallway reeks of feces and bad smells due to lack of resident care. The employment turn over rate is astronomically high. If you hire CNA'S AND GNA'S and they're walking off of the job within 2 weeks, something is wrong and this happens on a regular. Call outs are a constant. They're always short staffed and yet nothing is done about it. Whoever is doing the hiring needs to be replaced because clearly they lack good judgement. My love one has been there for some years and I have tried to transfer them to another facility but due to my family dynamics it has prevented me from making this happen, so I'm left to deal with the piss poor care that is given. I've had many meetings with the administrator Laverne about my loved one's care and incidents that have taken place but it's like everything else over there, they walk the narrow line and then things go back to the way they were. The facility reprimands the employees that actually care about the residents and care about the level of care that they give to them but yet the slackers get rewarded. Make it make sense because it sounds backwards to me. Towson Rehabilitation needs to shut down their long term care floor(s) and revamp it starting with management on down the line. The owners ought to be embarrassed and ashamed to say that they are owners of Towson Rehabilitation and Health Care. You can tell that they spend as less money as possible for the products and care that's needed for the residence in that facility. If your loved one is residing there for long term care, for God's sake PLEASE go and check on them! By all means necessary try and get them transferred to a different facility. It's all about a dollar over there and the owners make sure they cut corners and costs on EVERY level! God Bless the Residents.

incident# 1 my father got there on fri 2/7/25…read more he fell & busted the left front side of his head on sun 2/9/25 around 9pm (around his eyebrow) trying to go to the bathroom on his own. he had been pressing the button for a while for someone to come help him go to the bathroom. when someone finally came they told him stop pressing the button. they left so fast, he didnt get to tell them what he needed. they never even asked what he needed. he had to go to the hospital. he had to get the opening glued shut. he also had a swollen black eye. no one called from the facility to say that anything had happened. we only knew that something happened because a nurse called from the hospital. unacceptable !!!!!!!! i spoke with the director of nursing, believe it or not nothing happened to the parties involved. i was told that disciplinary action took place. when talking to her, she even stated that she doesnt trust some of the staff there. if that is the case, why are these people working there? she even stop responding to me when i asked about an incident report. incident #2 my father used the urinals sometimes to help him from falling. the urinals were rarely emptied and i found myself emptying them every time i visited. i spoke with the director about the issue. the issue was fixed for like a day and then it was back to them not being emptied again. my father had so many different incidents that has occurred since hes been at that facility. the rehabilitation area he was located in on the 1st fl, the rooms were shared by 2 people. the bathroom was shared by 4 people because it was connected to the room on the other side. the bathroom was rarely cleaned. most times i came to visit my dad, the bathroom smelled like urine. they have agency staff that work there, not staff employed by the facility. most of the people dont care about the patients. there were some good nurses (udi- "the nice nurse", my father calls her, very nice, apollo was cool as well) and techs/aides/gnas (carrie was great & kathy was great). a lot of the tech/aides/gna had bad attitudes. the therapists did the bare minimum with helping him. the speech therapist, they had great conversation, but she would tell him that he passed on certain things and my father said that he know he didnt. he wanted her to be honest, not just pass him. laverne, the administrator seemed very nice and understanding towards the end of his stay. i thought the director of nursing was the head person, but she is not. my only advice for people who have love ones or friends there, please check on them!!!!!!! they act totally different when your love ones are not around.
