I am going to be completely upfront here with my experience with Alex from Masters 4 U. I've already talked to him asking for a partial refund before posting this review and I'm sure he will respond to my comments. I called Alex from Masters4U to come look at fixing my dryer. The unit was able to power on but was not getting hot. Alex proceeded to unplug the dryer from the outlet and started taking it apart to diagnose the issue. After about an hour, Alex pointed to me that the plug and outlet had been burned and melted, most likely the reason for the heating issue. I thought it was strange that he just noticed the melted power cable and outlet when he was the one who unplugged it from the wall. This was the first red flag. I decided I would fix the outlet and get a new dryer cable to do the fix myself and told him I would pay the diagnostic fee. Alex asked me to pay him $100 diagnostic fee instead of the agreed upon $80, stating that he had to help move the dryer down from the stack, so the cost was higher. This did not make any sense to me and was the second red flag. After replacing those items, the dryer still would be able to power on but still would not get hot. I did not get a good feeling about Alex's work and decided to call a second technician to look into the issue after having already paid Alex. The second technician took apart the dryer a second time and immediately called me over to point to the problem. The heating element cable inside the dryer was not connected. How Alex missed this is beyond me. At best he was negligent in putting back the dryer properly. At worse he left it unplug so that I could call him back. This has been my personal experience with Alex from Masters4U. I won't be using your services any longer. read more

Alex was awesome. He was on-time, had great communication, honest, fast, and his workmanship was great. Our LG front-load washer drain pump broke and I got multiple quotes through Yelp. Alex's pricing was competitive and he was willing to work with a stacked washer/dryer. Multiple vendors refused to repair a stacked washer/dryer because they are worried it may require 2 people. He replaced the broken drain pump and a moldy boot (plastic seal) in about 4 hours. We had an issue with our HVAC; the condenser fan stopped working unexpectedly. I'm an engineer and I know that the more information you provide to a technician, the better. So, I gave a detailed description of the current conditions of my HVAC to all the eight companies I contacted over yelp messages. Only three businesses gave me a price range, just a ballpark estimate, obviously knowing that it could change if the issue is not related to what I described. The other businesses said they couldn't give an estimate (understandably so because it might not be the technician talking to you). Also, all other businesses offered to schedule a diagnostic appointment in a week or so and the ones that did offer an estimation started at double or more (not exaggerating) than Masters4U! Ryan M., who I talked to over Yelp messages, was responsive and kind enough to offer me an estimation for my issue (between 300 and 500, other businesses said $700 and $750) and told me that it could be fixed *the same day*. Of course, I was hesitant at first, thinking; "maybe he is just looking to get here and throw a $700 bill at the end because of something unexpected", but that wasn't the case. After we agreed, Ryan arrived within an hour, prepared with all the tooling/parts necessary for the repair, diagnosed the issue in under a minute after asking me to turn on the AC, and then fixed the issue in under 10 minutes for $340 (with a 3-month warranty, should anything happen to the replacement part). I made the payment on the spot over Zelle --which he preferred--. I'm really pleased with this service as it was fast, responsive, and didn't make me wait for a week for something that is already a necessity in the bay area. Seriously, I started chatting with Ryan at 11am, by 1:30pm he had already fixed the issue. I recommend Ryan from Masters4U 100%. read more

Thank you for responding to my review. The 3 stars is for your response, not the original diagnosis. When having an unknown person come into my home to diagnose an appliance problem, I have to use my own judgement based upon what I see, hear and the interaction with the person. In this case, what the person did and what the person said did not inspire my confidence that he knew what the problem was and gave me the impression that he was "shot gunning" a repair through a trial and error process. All that you say in your response may be true but I have nothing to base my perception other than what I actually observed. I purposely did not reply to the text or answer the phone because the text wanted me to cancel the review. I value my time so when I take the time to write a review, I will never cancel it. I may write an update such as I'm doing now but the original review will always stand as written. I am certainly not a refrigeration expert. I do have a master's degree in Electrical Engineering which included several Mechanical Engineering courses that covered the Carnot Cycle physics for refrigeration. At the time of the technician's visit, the refrigerator was still providing partial inefficient cooling. If the inverter had failed and the compressor was not running, how could it provide any cooling? This is one of the reasons I did not trust the diagnosis. I will not debate the issue further. DO NOT RECOMMEND. SERVICE IS BAD AND UNPROFESSIONAL I reached out to Alexey for a water condensation problem for my refrigerator. However the experience was terrible. Not only the problem was not fixed, the fridge completely stopped to work after his failed attempt to fix. My fridge had some water in the non- freezing compartment. Other than that it was still functioning fine. He was very confident at first he could fix the problem at but then couldn't make the compressor start after swap in a part. As a result , the fridge completely stopped working. All my food and stuff in the fridge had to go to trash. Then he told me he need to find part to replace both control panel and thermal sensor. Yet he made no effort to look for the parts. All he wanted is to get his 70 dollars and move on because he is incapable to fix the problem. I wish this guy could be at least a bit more honest on how he could not fix my issue and not completely screw the whole fridge. This caused great inconvenience to us as we cannot find a good replacement in a short time. In the end, he also refused to admit his own fault. Alex is quite rude; he does shoddy work,; and he only cares about making money. Stay away from his services. Let me explain why. We had him over to diagnose the problem with our fridge that was not cooling. He came over the next day and by the time he came, the problem was fixed by us cleaning and restarting the fridge. I thought let him come and diagnose it anyways after all $60 was reasonable. He came and checked the temperature with a laser gun and said everything looks fine. He removed the small grille at the bottom of the fridge and cleaned the dirt. He didn't move the fridge at all to check the compressor and other components in the back at all. He charged us $180 for 15 min of his time. He didn't provide any diagnosis. A month later we had the same problem so I called him since it was within the 60-day warranty. First, he didn't respond to my text for an hour so I called him. On the phone, he said he was extremely busy and would respond later. He then texted me saying he will come over in 30 mins. After almost an hour of waiting, I texted him back asking him if he still coming? He responded why? I said it's been an hour so I was wondering. His response was ridiculous- he was blaming me that I didn't respond to his earlier text about coming over in 30 mins in time (which was only two minutes). He came over and was waiting outside my house but didn't text that he was outside So I called again to ask where was he and he got angry and started screaming that I was expecting too much. He showed no empathy that our food was going bad. He then came inside and said he would charge another $60 for the diagnosis since this was not covered under his warranty. So I said he didn't do much last time and charged us $180 for 15 minutes for cleaning and checking the fridge temperature. Our A/C died in the heat wave we are experiencing right now. Alex came right away and was very honest and professional. A lot of A/C people were trying to tell us that we had to replace our system, but Alex said that wasn't necessary. He changed the capacitor on the compressor for only $280 (versus thousands of dollars that other guys were asking to replace our whole A/C system.) I understand we have an older system, but I see no reason to spend thousands of dollars if we can maybe get a few more years out of our older system which had been working fine. It turns out we also have an electrical problem in the wall. There was no power to the compressor, so I am contacting electricians to get that taken care of. Alex said he is almost sure that once the electrical is fixed the A/C will be back up and running, but if it isn't he told us he would give us a refund minus the $60 diagnostic fee.
