    Sweet and Sour Chicken

Walked in, and friendly staff. Very clean and nice atmosphere. Hostess did a great job of sitting diners away from each other - lots of space in here! I was disappointed that the Boo Boo Platter was no longer offered. The hostess explained that they couldn't price it out right - and I can't blame them (it was a lot of food for $7.95). But it would have been a fun dish to have. I have read some comments about their menus, and yes, they have written all over them. I am including some photos so you can see the updated items now being offered - which do not include the 2022 increase of $.50. The WonTon Soup broth was very tasty, and as you can see, there are small slices of pork and onion which added depth. The Cheese Stuffed Wontons (their version of the old "Crab and Cream Cheese") was very good. The Shrimp Spring rolls - forgot 'em. After bite after bite of thinly sliced cooked cabbage, I finally broke out the knife to search for shrimp. There were 3 tiny 1/2" mini shrimp in there. Nothing like Happy China off of Verdae in Greenville (their's are the bomb). So, the Egg Rolls/Spring Rolls I would not recommend. The deep fried Chicken for the Sweet and Sour Dish was very flavorful. You could dip those into any type of sauce and go for it for days. The Sweet and Sour Sauce didn't have much Sour. We were eating most of the hot chili sauce we ordered on the side, so we didn't mind that either. There was a option of ordering half chicken / half shrimp, which we will do next time. I'm anxious to try some of their traditional entrees as well. It's been a long time since I have been to a very old-style Chinese restaurant, but it was enjoyable. Their staff is friendly, servers wearing masks, etc. Definitely going back to explore more!

This restaurant has consistently great food and great service. The interior is very well decorated and is also always clean.

Was craving Chinese food and was visiting a friend. This was close to her home. You can't miss this one from the road with it's Chinese architecture. Inside the intricate designs continue with Chinese art and wall murals. Customer service was great. They bring all the items out on a cart. The menu has the typical American Chinese fare. We were there around lunch time. They didn't have lunch specials, but they have a deal where you can make select entrees into a special deal with an appetizer. I ordered some cheese wontons for the table. I got the hong Kong chicken with an egg roll for my meal. The wontons were like crab rangoons and did have a good flavor and plenty of filling and had a light crisp. The dish was okay. Chicken was lightly battered and fried. It was tender. It had a five spice and lemongrass kick. Veggies were crisp but didn't have a lot of flavor. I wish it were in a sauce. The rice wasn't great. It was undercooked and a strange consistency. It was brown but barely had flavor for fried rice. My husband had the Mongolian chicken. It tasted off. The sauce was thick, lacking the sweet onion taste. I've had a lot better. The prices are a little high in my opinion for what you get. But the ambience and service is good.

DOV: Thursday, Feb. 22, 2018 @ 6:30pm FINALLY! 4-STARS! It took several visits but I was finally able to squeeze 4 stars out of this place. All I can say is, "It's about time!" This is a nice restaurant that should be getting higher ratings than it gets. I would like to see it get its act together and start earning more consistent high marks. The food came out fast and was fresh and hot. I got the House Special Combination Seafood Platter...lobster, sea scallops, and shrimp with Chinese vegetables. This is a rather pricey dish due to the seafood but it is well worth it; it is truly delicious. My server was very good - attentive and prompt. I never needed anything because she checked on me so often. She had several other tables too, so she did a good job balancing her workload. I love the atmosphere of this restaurant. The outside is decorated in an ornate Chinese theme. The building has pagoda style roofing and is colorful and pleasing to the eye. There are statues of Chinese lions (?) guarding the entrance, and the whole scene feels very Oriental. Inside, the place is partitioned off so you sit and eat in little sections rather than just an open room. This makes for a more intimate dining experience. Overall, I am a fan of this place. I would like to see it up its game and become more of a force in the restaurant community. When they are good they are really good. I just want them to be good more often.

While they do give you a lot for your money, the food is not very good. Not sure why the Asian food isn't better, in Anderson.

Wonderful food! I got the General Tso's chicken and it was really good. Would've given 5 stars but the service was a little lackiing.

I came in to eat for the very first time and the waitress was very nice, and the food came out quickly. I ordered the beef and broccoli and I will be honest I did not like it so I only nibbled at it thankfully, because after picking at it i noticed a dead maggot. I scooped it onto a napkin and when the waitress came over to check on me I showed it to her discreetly and whispered that I'd found it in my food. She immediately snatched it out of my hands, said she had "no idea what it is" and hustled to the back of the restaurant where I heard her screaming I'm assuming at the cooks. I walked up to the front desk shortly after feeling absolutely disgusted and she charged me for the meal I was unable to eat and continued acting like nothing happened. I could have asked her not to charge me but I was so freaked out and revolted I didn't even think about it. I was trying to be understanding but after she snatched the literal dead maggot from me and gaslit me I wonder how many other experiences have been like mine.

The lady who took my order was very friendly and encouraging. When she heard it was my first time there she was very confident that we would come back. The food was not outstanding but it was worth a repeat visit. I glanced at the seating area. There were booths and tables available. The place looked neat and clean.

I always try to give a restaurant at least twice before leaving a less than stellar review. Well…read morenow I've tried them a couple of times and I'm still not impressed. The food is okay, not great. The service a bit of a mess, the ambiance is okay. Our table ordered Drunken Noodle which was good, red curry and green curry. We also had a coconut soup and an order of baby egg rolls. My favorite part of the meal was the baby egg rolls and that's kinda sad. My companions ordered Thai teas and I got sweet tea which my tea was fine. Hubby's drunken noodle was actually pretty good. My green curry (with tofu) was fine but the rice was mushy. We also got a mango sticky rice for dessert but it seemed the rice was leftover from yesterday maybe. I wish I had better remarks but again, this is not my first visit and I had similar complaints the first time. As far as service, the servers were nice enough and I think for the volume of patrons they were doing okay but it still was a bit of a mess. They were doubling the work trying to cover all tables when maybe they should've had separate sections. I think that would've quelled some of the overlap like both servers working to refill my tea and by the time one had, the other was coming with the pitcher. This next part is the fault of the kitchen. I watched table after table get served their dishes scattered, where one person would get theirs while the others at the table were waiting for theirs to come. Some would wait for the others to be served but some would go ahead and start eating ahead of their party. This happened the last time I was there as well. That needs to be tightened up. Personally, I wouldn't go back. The experience was a bit of a drag. We regretted ordering dessert as it took so long to come and we were antsy to get out of there by the time it came. The food was good enough but it could've been so much better and the service stayed afloat but certainly could be better.

No worries, the Staff at Thai Spice were very helpful in recommending dishes that we might enjoy. We absolutely loved the food. When my son visited I was sure he would not want to eat there, he is so picky, but he loved it! Now when he visits he wants to know when we are going to eat there again! If I am feeling ill I get the Tom Kai Soup, I may not spelling it correctly but not sure, I always feel better, the ginger, mushrooms, you can have meat added or not, this goes for most all of the dishes. However, $40 seems a bit overpriced for 1x sesame chicken, 1x honey chicken, 3 egg rolls and a small egg drop soup. Especially considering the quality of the food. The "fried" rice provided with one entree was basically just streamed with a little soy and no vegetables. The egg rolls were large but only contained shredded cabbage resulting with very little flavor. I was extremely disappointed especially considering the price.
