Long story short: sewage line was blocked close to street, but on my property, with roots and basically a small tree. This was 14 feet deep. Sewage backed up into my house. Two plumbers along with the county came out and they could not fix it. FORTUNATELY, I was referred to HALCOMB PLUMBING. They analyzed it and figured out what had to be done. Brought an amazing crew, an excavator and safety equipment. After 4 days, everything was repaired and the problem is traced back to how the lines were installed when the house was built and of course, nature. I am suggesting to my neighbors that you take preventative measures and have a camera placed into your sewer line. Trust me, you don't want to go through what I did. Call HALCOMB PLUMBING. He recommended I call an HVAC guy. I just had an HVAC technician come out and HE confirmed that is is, in fact, a plumbing pipe leak. He showed it to me and I can even touch and feel the water leaking on the pipe. $80 on the plumbing service call that gave me the wrong diagnosis completely (and made me spend another $65 on an HVAC service call) - seems like I got duped. Would not recommend.

I went to their web site at 8 AM Sunday and left a message online at 8:09 AM I received a phone call from them with an appointment at 3PM Sunday afternoon with no overtime or weekend surcharge. At about 2PM I got another call saying they could be at my house at 2:20 PM, if I was available. Ken arrived exactly when they said he would. He looked at the water heater and diagnosed the problems and then gave me my options, let me make the decision no high-pressure sales tactics. I decided to replace the water heater expecting it would be Monday before they could replace it. Ken said he could have a new water heater at my house in 30 minutes and replace it this afternoon. Amberlee drove up 30 minutes later and about an hour later I had a new water heater completely installed. While waiting for Amberlee Ken disconnected the old water heater and added a pressure valve to my main waterline. This was the best experience I have ever had dealing with any service company of any type. Ken was very nice and pleasant to deal with, very friendly, When Amberlee arrived, she was the exact same way, friendly, nice and great to talk to. I think Ken has developed a great culture of customer service in his company. The workmanship was great price was fair. This will be the only Plumbing company I will use from now on.

So two nephews of Kenneth Black arrived quicker than what we were told, used their camera and located the blockage. I tried to pay them and they said NO CHARGE!!! I said well I don't have any cash but please take a tip of my debit card. They said no, no tip. These two men were polite, courteous, knowledgeable and just super great employees. Dupree does NOT FOLLOW REQUIRED manufacturer installation guidelines. The guidelines are not…read moresuggestions or recommendations, they MUST be followed, according to manufacturer documentation. The first tankless hot water system Dupree installed failed bc they did not install an air intake vent as required. They replaced that unit and ran an air intake vent. The unit never worked properly and during a video call with a tech from the tankless co., they instantly saw that the fresh air intake vent was going the opposite direction of the exhaust vent. Guidelines state vents MUST run parallel and exit at the same side of the house within 24in of each other. Dupree installed the intake air vent at the easiest location, out the back of our house just above the basement. Our exhaust is on the roof, 2+ stories above the intake vent. They are NOT exiting on the same side of the house and are they are NOT a max of 24" apart from each other at the exit points, as required. This VOIDS our warranty with the manufacturer. Most importantly, It is DANGEROUS. Page 34 of guidelines state "DANGER: Failure to properly vent the water heater to the outdoors as outlined in this Venting section will result in death or serious personal injury. To avoid the risk of fire, explosion, or asphyxiation from carbon monoxide, never operate the water heater unless it is properly done and has adequate air supply for proper operation as outlined in the Venting section." Josh from Dupree said this is how Dupree installs tankless systems all the time. If we want to have Dupree install the vents to be in compliance with guidelines, we will have to PAY them bc we are outside of our 2 year warranty with them. This is not about their warranty, this is about installing operating systems as required by the manufacturer. Dupree wants us to PAY them to fix their mistakes. In addition, they ran the intake vent close to our dryer exhaust vent. So, our tankless system has been sucking in dryer lint. WE ARE NOW FACED WITH HAVING TO REPLACE THE UNIT AND HAVE VENTS PROPERLY INSTALLED DUE TO DUPREE'S ABSOLUTE INCOMPETENCE AND DISREGARD FOR CUSTOMER SAFETY. It is appalling that they could not bother to read manufacturer required guidelines not once, but twice, when installing a tankless hot water system in our home.

The hot water heater stopped working again 2 months ago so I called them to service, the gentleman that serviced the machine the previous time was professional and courteous. I learned that they no longer serviced the area. I called three plumbing services out to help fix the hot water heater and was told by all three that the hot water heater was installed incorrectly which led to no hot water and heavy vibration to the equipment. The last plumber called the manufacturer to validate the incorrect installation of the unit. This instillation error caused me to have to purchase and install a new hot water heater unit.

LADIES BEWARE Sewage…read morewater backed up into my home because of tree roots in the sewer line. Aaron Plumbing came out to assess the situation. The plumber ran a camera down the sewer line which could show not only where the problem was but also how deep and how long the sewer line was. He showed me exactly where the problem was and gave me a quote of approximately $8,000, which I agreed to. A couple of days later they came and started the repair. About half-way through the completion of the job, the plumber comes knocking on my door to tell me that it was a lot deeper than he originally thought and they would have to dig a bigger and deeper hole. This of course, was going to cost more - $5,000 more! The cost went from $8,000 to $13,000! I asked why, and he said that the depth and width of the excavation was not foreseen. That simply was not true. He knew exactly how deep and long the sewer line was because the camera took measurements as well as videos. Unfortunately, at the time of this conversation, I didn't recall that the camera showed the depth and length of the sewer line, or I would have argued this point with the plumber. The huge hole was already dug, and I was afraid of another sewer backup. This whole situation had been very emotional, and I wanted the job done. I didn't know what recourse I had. I'm posting this because I don't want anybody else to be taken advantage of like I was. It seems like nowadays you have to be an expert at everything you need done in your home or you'll be taken advantage of, especially us single women. So. ladies beware, don't let your emotions get in the way, pause and get a second opinion regardless of what stage the job is in. I do not recommend Aaron Plumbing, because I was mislead and duped.

-- Very Disappointing Plumbing Experience I used Shumate…read morePlumbing a little over a year ago for several plumbing issues in my home, including repairs to a couple of toilets and a severe leak in my master bathroom. Unfortunately, my experience with their plumbing service was extremely disappointing. Regarding the master bathroom leak, Shumate told me they needed to locate a particular part and would get back to me. I followed up with them approximately five or six months later, only to find out that they had apparently forgotten about the issue. They said they thought they had reached back out to me, but they had not. By that point, the leak had gotten significantly worse. I was then told they couldn't find the part. I asked if they could at least recommend another solution or provide some guidance on how to resolve the problem. Essentially, I was told they couldn't fix it and was left to figure it out myself. Fortunately, I found another plumbing company. They came out the same day, identified the issue, and found the supposedly difficult-to-find part -- which happened to be a European part -- within about five minutes. The repair was completed in less than a week. Now, more recently, the toilet in my master bathroom that Shoemate had repaired is having another problem. They had replaced the flapper and the fill valve/base inside the tank with new parts. The toilet is now leaking and taking an extremely long time to fill. I contacted Shoemate and asked whether the repair was still under warranty. I was told their warranty was only one year and that they would not address the issue. I explained that I wasn't calling simply because I wanted something for free -- I was calling because they had originally performed the repair, and I was hoping they would stand behind their work and at least try to take care of a returning customer. Instead, I was essentially told that they could not help me and that I should go with another plumbing company. That response is consistent with my earlier experience: when there was a problem they couldn't immediately resolve, I felt like I was simply left hanging rather than being given a solution or even a meaningful recommendation. I can't speak to their HVAC services because I haven't used them for HVAC. But based on my experiences with their plumbing department, I would not use Shumate for plumbing again and cannot recommend them to others. If I could give less than one star, I would.
