My experience here was as follows: I was looking at a used car in the area and had called ahead to ask if I could swing by and have them give it the once over. I showed up the next day and the fellow who owns the place, Mike I think, was there and was super helpful. He checked out the body, put it up on the lift and checked all the mechanical infrastructure and then we took it on a test drive for a few miles. He pointed out a few key things that needed work but overall gave it a great rating for the money and the vehicle. Armed with the knowledge Mike provided, I offered $500 less than asking and got it. Based on my experience, I think it highly likely, if you are looking for a good, honest mechanic, you won't go wrong here. Even though I live far away I am tempted to make the trip for upkeep. Jonathan is covering for Mike due to a illness. Over charged me. $100. To put a air cleaner back on. 5 min. Job that I did not ask him to do. Also he could not fix my 4 wheel drive on my plow truck. It was stuck in 4 wheel drive. Now it won't go into 4 wheel drive. Rendering my plow truck useless. Mike was better. read more

I have never posted a review however my last experience has me so angry. I have taken cars 2 shop for years. Now under new ownership I've had several repairs done having 2 go back each time 2 rectify repairs. This last time cost me nearly $2000 for front end work. Vehicle now drives so bad my wife refuses 2 use car. I will be eating cost and finding new mechanic 2 fix it correctly. And maybe take legal action. Absolutely horrible the owner mike is a fraud! He claimed to have done work to my husbands car only to find out it was never done months later ... we kept bringing the car back and he kept charging us for things that were irrelevant... the problem was what he was supposed to fix from the beginning ... brought it to another mechanic & they said the cattilac converter was never replaced ... went back & mentioned this to mike the owner he apologized and gave me our money back such a joke! Mike is great! I recommend him again and again to anyone who will listen. Friends recommended Master Tech after the dealership gave me a list of "recommended repairs" during a simple oil change that totaled over $4,000 for my 2003 Pilot!! After a good laugh, Mike look at the list, tossed the car on his lift, and inspected it from top-to-bottom, crossing out dealership "items" along the way. My final bill was under $300!! (I kid you not.) Been going back to Mike again and again ever since with both the Pilot and our 2009 MDX. Mike used to work at a dealership, but he hated everything about it - ask him and he'll tell you. He's certified (not in the crazy sense), totally honest, very reasonably priced, and personable (so unlike the folks at the dealership). Really expensive labor $120+. Guy on the phone confirmed that he would perform the list of things I asked him to stating "we'll get all that done for you" but when service was "completed" was told the shop refused to do it unless I paid them an even higher hourly rate. Just like the 1991 Ferrari Testarossa outside, don't expect to get good value here... But I'm sure if you're a BMW fanboy, you'll feel at home. I came here on the recommendation of a coworker and it was totallllly worth it. A dealership quoted me over $300 to fix a rattling noise. Turns out they diagnosed it wrong and Mike was able to fix it quickly and cheaply! He is a certified Master Honda Technician but was able to fix my Subaru no problem. read more

Finding an honest and reliable mechanic can be really tough but Mike is great! This guy is awesome - I found out about him from my bf's dad, and I am so glad I did! He replaced the clutch on my VW fast and then even took the time to show me the old parts and explain what had happened, which I think is a super nice touch. He has also been patching together my bf's 23 year old Camry for years, and is very up front about what should be done vs. what doesn't need to be done for an older car. Bottom line - I will be taking my VW to Mike until it dies, and then my next car, and the next! read more

Absolutely great place! The people at Master Tech are kind, professional, great at what they do, and will take the time to explain it all to you. I wanted to get a used car inspected before I bought it and they saw me right away, with no fuss. I showed up without an appointment, and I was seen within 5 minutes. Mike and the other mechanics were super sweet guys, and not only gave the car a look over but explained what to look for when buying a used car (it was the first car I ever bought). He did a thorough inspection and even took the car up on the lift and showed us what to look for under the chassis. These guys are fantastic. Mike and Master Tech came highly recommended from a close friend and for good reason. I recently had my ford E-250's transmission "rebuilt" and have brought it back to the "transmission specialist" in Norwood 4 times. Starting slipping and getting a burning smell again went to Master Tech for a second opinion. Gave me some great advice, and gave the van a quick look over with other cars in queue to make sure nothing else was causing the issue. All for no charge! Gave him a little cash anyway. I'll back to have him fix my ABS issue, and probably to have him work on a fixer-upper I just got. If you need a mechanic in the Walpole area, don't go anywhere else!!! read more

I brought my car to Master Tech as I got a rejection sticker on my car because my cars DLC port would not connect to the inspection garages computer. I tried fixing it myself but was unable to so I had Mike take a look at it. He had my car for two days and fixed my problem and only charged me two hours labor! Mike is the best it gets. I was about to purchase a car with a clean car fax, but I contacted Mike to see if he could give the car a quick inspection to confirm that it was in good condition. Mike was extremely busy that day, but he told me to bring it down on his lunch break and he would take a look at it. Mike took us in right away, put the car on the lift, and immediately began to explain everything about the car. Not only was he obviously well informed about cars, he also took the time to show all of us how to inspect a vehicle and what to look for. He went around and showed us the body damage and the spotty welding job someone had done. He thoroughly explained how a good welding job and a bad welding job were very different and signs to look for on the vehicle. He then took the time to go over what else to look for on a car inspection. However, he was not pushy at all when he suggested we eventually take it to a reputable body shop. I was so impressed by Mike's flexibility, friendly manner, and ability to explain car concepts. I would absolutely recommend him to friends and family, and will be taking my car to him myself when there are any problems in the future. read more
