During the installation, he bragged about how door installation was his forte. When he left, I thought all was well and he asked me to leave a review. A few months later I had a football game party and a couple of guys noted the extremely shoddy workmanship of the installation of the door. I felt really duped by Don Bellehumeur. One of the guys even found where he screwed up and instead of correcting it, he went ahead and proceeded to deceive me. I contacted Menards because that is where I purchased the door and that is where I was given Don's contact information. Menards asked for photos of the poorly installed door and they then met with Don to see if they could come up with some sort of resolution. The Menards store manager then contacted me and told me Don refused to do the right thing and re install the door. To Menards credit, they did tell me they will never do business with "Don's Home Improvement" again and will never recommend him to another customer. I now have to have the door reinstalled all at my expense. In the meantime and until the weather improves, I have a door through which you can see daylight and on which the deadbolt is not properly aligned, raising safety concerns. Run, don't walk, away fron this guy. He's got a real line of bull. And to all those females out there and not so handy men, beware of these types of contractors who will take advantage of anyone that doesn't know the difference between a reputable contractor and a shyster like Don Bellehumeur. "Don's Home Improvement" he's not!

So he kept turning it from side to side to wash away soap, tooth paste, etc. Over time, he basically "unscrewed" the faucet. By the time I noticed, I couldn't tell if it was broken or just needed tightening. Gave Shane a call, he asked to send him pics, then replied back with instructions on how to fix things myself. He could've easily come out to my place, then charge a service and labor fee, but he helped me save money... and now I know that what I thought was a part of the fixture is actually a hard-to-reach nut wrench. LOL. Will be giving him a call the next time I have a real job.

Needed a couple of items fixed- roof vent and disposal. I'm sure if I'd said it was urgent they'd have tried to come sooner. They came out a week or so after I called to check things out and give me a quote. That guy, Matt, and the later handyman were friendly and efficient. Then another few weeks till they came out. I got the disposal and they installed it, plus added a plug under the sink and fixed the wall switch. Took an hour or so. This is the only handyman our dogs haven't barked at when they got here, and never did. He said he has dogs, but sometimes ours go nuts no matter what, on just hearing or smelling a stranger. The roof took maybe half an hour. Again, professional and efficient. Prices seem a little high to me, but it's been awhile since I hired anyone so this may be the new normal. And I used to be able to do some of this stuff but can't now, so, I have to pay someone sometimes. Worth it to have it taken care of.

Reasons I chose Delco: - Owner's "can-do" attitude. Very positive. These are multi-week projects. It's important that I enjoy working with someone on a daily basis for that length of time. - Owner is consistently on-site. - Overall value was substantially higher than others. - Ability to use my own designer (Cary Gerschutz of DeLuca Designs...highly recommend). - Referred by trusted individual. Reasons I recommend Delco now that the project has been completed: - Communication: Owner proactively provides regular updates on project without it being overwhelming. - Proposed budget was in line with final cost. - Attention to detail: Example: Our designer marveled at the final product of the "pebble floor" in our shower. Each stone was placed by hand; it did not look "manufactured". - Any unknowns (you don't know what's behind the wall until you open it) were disclosed up front with worst-case scenarios clearly outlined, with an under-promise-over-deliver mindset. - Very respectful of our home: Stairs and walls were protected prior to starting. Items were carried carefully. Accidents can happen but we were fortunate that we experienced not one bit of collateral damage. - Respectful of our family: They used earbuds instead of a stereo. No yelling or unnecessary noise. Got to know our dog and were happy to close the door each and every time they made a trip from the outside of the house to the inside of the house. Even in communication: If I wanted to talk through some things, he wasn't rushing me. And likewise, if I was busy, he was respectful of that and kept things brief. - Cleaned up every single day. - Any snags were met with a positive attitude. No blaming of others; great accountability. - Vast majority of work done by Delco; very few subcontractors. - Project was completed within the "worst-case scenario" timeframe and, had it not been for subcontractor delays, it would have been done sooner than that. All of Delco's work was done in a timely manner. - Flexible with mid-project adjustments. Conclusion: A project like this is a big financial and time investment. I really enjoyed working with Delco. I've already referred friends to them. The end product was better than expected. Finally, my designer, after the project was completed, told me that, if I used a typical home remodeling company, I would have paid significantly more for a lesser product. Again, stop searching, use Delco. You'll be happy you did.
