On February 28th, 2026, I went to Take 5 on Toepperwein Road to get an oil change. As I was being…read moreserviced, the mechanic named Jay stated I needed a coolant exchange. I ask the price and agree to get the service done. The total amount for oil change and coolant exchange came out to $229.29 with military discount. After the service was completed, I headed to the HEB on kitty hawk road (about 8 minutes away). Before I could reach the parking lot, a red light was going off and stating the engine was overheating. A second yellow light also came on as well. I pull into the parking lot and turn off the engine. I open the hood and it was clear liquid where the coolant should be. I was naturally upset and freaking out. While waiting for the engine to cool down, I walk my son to the Great Clips to get a haircut. While there, I called the Take 5 office twice and left voice message because no one answered. Afterwards, I headed back to Take 5. My vehicle overheated again within a few minutes before I could reach Take 5, so I pull over into the Ben Miller parking lot to let it cool down again. I wait awhile and try to call again. I start the car and continue to Take 5. As I am pulling into the Take 5 parking lot, my car overheats for the third time. I tell the manager it has been overheating three times since I left. He directs me into the shop and begins to access the problem. I explain everything that happen and he redid the coolant exchange and test drove it. As my son and I were waiting while my car was being test drove, I heard the other mechanic, JJ, say, "I wonder what I did wrong." The manager apologized for the incident and told me to return in a week to check the levels. On March 11th, 2026, I left home to go to church. My car started overheating for the fourth time. I was on O'Conner road, so I pull into the Lowes parking lot since it was nearby. I turn my car off so it could cool down and open the hood. When I looked under the hood, the coolant was completely empty. I went inside the Lowes to purchase coolant and funnel ($20.12) to fill up until I could make it to Take 5. As I backed up out of the parking spot, I noticed a wet shiny spot. I headed back to Take 5 and spoke to the manager. I explained everything that happen and he directed my car into the shop for assessment. He apologized and stated he was going to put in for a refund for the coolant exchange and corporate would call for details. I was still concerned with my vehicle, so I headed down the street to Goodyear. I explained to the Goodyear employee everything that happen at Take 5 with coolant exchange, vehicle overheating four times and empty coolant. I had to leave my car overnight because the weren't able to assess the vehicle until the next morning. Thursday morning, Goodyear called and stated the thermostat housing was cracked and leaking coolant and it was due to the pressure from the machine when doing the coolant exchange incorrectly. The total to fix was $316.80. I called Take 5 service issue line and a claim was open. I also called the Take 5 shop and the manager sent up a claim as well. After Goodyear fixed the issue, I had to Uber ($8.95) to the shop to retrieve my vehicle. After following up on my claim, I received a phone call stating my claim was denied and it wasn't their fault. I went in for a simple oil change and left out with $500 plus dollars in damage to my car that Take 5 refused to take responsibility for due to a young and inexperienced mechanic screwing my vehicle up.

Zuniga’s Automotive & Tire Shop - SPECIAL OF THE MONTH

When I had came originally I was treated great and it was economical for me…read more Then I had an issue with something with visits that will cost exactly the same every time I visited because I thought the item was fixed but it wasn't fixed and I had to keep taking it in to have them look at it. I would get charged something each and every time whether the same item was fixed or not just to look at the car. My relative ended up fixing that different problem before this AC problem. The problem is currently not happening and hasn't been happening since then I had my air conditioner replaced at this place. So the great price on air conditioning that I paid was supposed to be for the whole system. And now the freon has completely emptied out because of leaks that they want to charge me to fix when that should have been done when I had the air conditioning replaced. That was a previous to this already hot season back in the summer of 2024 when it was going to almost be fall when I wouldn't notice any leaks because I wouldn't be using my air conditioner much at that time. But this season when I needed it on our first hot day I turned my air conditioner on and needed to go 20 minutes across town to get somewhere in my car was not so I contacted them and took it in as soon as I could and all they did was empty out the freon for an hour and a half and put put it back in as I was sitting in my car in front of the bay thinking it wouldn't take very long. The whole time no one was staying right by my car working on it with me sitting there. And then they charge me for labor or whatever. I was told that there might be a leak or it's because the air conditioner hasn't been turned on..... I was pissed when I had to pay for empty Anna out Freon and putting it back in but apparently there's some sort of leak. And I was told that I could leave it there so they could look at it and I was like, NO. This is something that should have already been finished when I originally had the new Air conditioning installed. So that was a couple months ago and here I am again because a couple of days ago it was not cooling the car when I left from work. I went shopping and left the car on to see if it would cool as I was in the store for about 15 minutes. I came out and it was cooling the car. So I thought that maybe it was just going to take a while for a sensor to kick in and cool my car. However a week later today I left it running to see when the air conditioner would cool the car just today. It was still putting out hot air. So here I am having to think about going to another shop because they want to not stand behind there air conditioning repair. They would want to charge me because they didn't care about looking at the tubes that have a leak when I originally had them replace the air conditioner 8 to 10 months ago. So after much experience with the shop I decided that they didn't care about the whole system of air conditioning when they did the repair. It was a great deal but now they want more money to find the leaks and repair which does not come out to a great deal anymore. I would say the same thing about any other mechanic that would do this. And if it this would happen at any other repair shop, there would be the same complaint. I don't appreciate people trying to get money out of me when they were supposed to take care of making sure the air conditioner works efficiently and there's no leaks when I originally get the air conditioning replaced!

Service Done, But Check Your Reminder Sticker - Misleading Interval for Synthetic Oil!…read more Review: Came into this Take 5 location today (April 22, 2025) for an oil change on my 2019 Dodge Journey. I had to move bays 3 times, staff inconsistent. The basic service seems to have been completed, and they used the DuraMAX Full Synthetic 5W-20 oil I opted for. Staff performed their usual checks and noted a few other items needing attention while laughing to himself. They also applied my coupon correctly, which was appreciated. However, my main issue is with the oil change reminder sticker they put on my windshield. My mileage was 81,817, and the sticker says to come back at 84,817 miles or by July 21st. That's only 3,000 miles or 3 months! This is really misleading for the Full Synthetic oil I paid a premium for. Everyone knows (and the oil manufacturers advertise) that full synthetic oil is designed to last much longer - typically 5,000, 7,500, or even up to 10,000 miles, especially on a newer vehicle like mine following manufacturer guidelines. Giving a 3,000-mile reminder for synthetic feels like either an outdated practice or a way to get customers back in the door way too soon, costing us unnecessary money. I've even seen that Take 5 recommends longer intervals (5k-7k) for diesel changes, so why such a short one for premium synthetic gas oil? While the oil change itself might be fine, this sticker practice feels off. Be sure to check your sticker and know your own vehicle's recommendations if you get synthetic oil here - don't just rely on their potentially very conservative reminder. Makes me question if I'll return.
