Santos didn't measure anything with a tape measure or laser, just did it in his head and gave us a quote. - We went to his office and met Charlie his office manager. Charlie informed us that they had an installation the next day but the customers were going to be mad because he forgot to order the floors. Still we were dumb enough to put the 50% down. Our floors went on backorder. July 7th Charlie called and put us on the on schedule for Aug 16th. Called in Aug asking when they would be out and he said "What makes you think we are installing on Aug 16th?" I was flabbergasted to say the least. Charlie admitted he was very forgetful and apologized. - New appt scheduled for Sep 13. They gave $1000 discount on labor supposedly for this mistake. Their billing system is very strange, You pay in different parts and it is very confusing. He didn't prepare and bring a trailer for the demo trash. He just dumped it in our driveway. Santos said he would pick up the garbage the next day but he never showed. Becoming increasingly anxious I called office manager asked if it was normal for the workers to only work 4 hours a day. She said yes it was which makes no sense if we were the only job that week. Told her to tell him to pick up garbage. Santos admitted he was doing other jobs during our installation. After I complained they stayed longer to work our renovation. He came the next day to pick up garbage then whined and complained about freeway traffic and having to wait in line at the dump! So unprofessional. We were paying for demo and disposal! 3rd day of installation found out that he never put our small front bathroom in the invoice. We completely missed that he didn't include it on the estimate. We showed him said bathroom 2 times and repeatedly said we were doing the WHOLE house. He stated it was a miscommunication and thought we wanted that bathroom left alone which again, makes no sense. Santos wouldn't take any accountability for forgetting to put the bathroom on the estimate and put the blame on us. They did the kitchen leaving gaps all around the counters because he had not prepared for that and he had no quarter round to fix it. In the small bathroom supposedly HE KNEW HE WASN'T DOING IT but had no transition between the tile and LVP so there is a ledge there now. He kept saying he would get some quarter round and kept "forgetting" He was supposed to meet us at noon on 3rd day to discuss the bathroom situation. Showed up at 4pm with no apology and ignored us and started working and played dumb when my husband confronted him said "I specifically showed you that bathroom, we told you repeatedly to do the entire house." There are many dings and scrapes on new house paint job by the crew not being careful while moving furniture around. We just paid 7 grand to paint the house so that was another disappointment. The floors look nice and his workers work hard and fast but the renovation was extremely upsetting. We read 5 star reviews on Google and decided to hire him on that but I promise you this is NOT the same guy in the reviews. We felt we were just an annoyance to him the entire project. Huge communication problems with him and his prior office manager Charlie. His new office manager is SO much better. I don't think I could have gotten through this without her. She was very kind. The impression I got of Santos is that he makes excuses, is extremely scattered, doesn't communicate well and "forgets" when it suits him which seems to be a theme with this company. I would really think twice if you are considering him to do your floors. He is only concerned about doing you job as fast as he possibly can so he can work other jobs in conjunction with yours and moving onto the next. He started fixing things but only after my contractor brother in law came over and inspected the floor and parts were too tight which can lead to buckling and floor failure and to make sure he did all the finish work he was going to leave. read more

Was getting bounced around and finally was able to schedule an appointment with these guys. It is took a little effort but the guy that made it out was very friendly and gave me honest feedback. My job was too small for them and he was honest that it would have been to expensive. I also got the feeling they didn't want to tie up their installers with a smaller project. He is did say he'd put me in touch with someone that might be willing to help me with my project. I never got a call from that person and ended up just doing the work myself. That reminds me, I need to reinstall some trim and moulding. read more

I am pleased with the work done my Master Floors. We had to refinish existing maple hardwood floors and stairs, and install hardwood floors in a new area while making sure we matched the existing older floors. We were not in any rush so this worked wonderfully for us. Santos came to the house to see the project and provided ideas for the new area that required new hardwood. I've ordered unfinished maple hardwood in the same width and thickness which was later stained in the same finish as the rest of the wood (satin, white washed). The result turned out great. The floors are matching throughout the house and I am happy with the outcome. The crew that came to do the install was professional and did a great job. Worked full days and finished the project according to the agreed schedule. Pricing was similar with at least one other company that bid for the project however - I chose Santos' services as he gave me confidence that he could work with maple hardwood and achieve the result I was aiming for. He delivered. Master Floors is a small company so my expectations were in line with that. I give 5 stars for the finished work and I recommend more attention to be placed in the customer care area particularly communication from the office side. Speaking with Santos about having our floors sanded and resurfaced he was very knowledgeable and let me know all of my options. Price was great and communication between Charlie (office manager) and Santos got a little spotty the closer we got to the actual project date. Santos's team (Santos was never on site for this project completion) was able to get the job done in a timely fashion. Floors look great but they did not tape off the base boards so now there is stain all throughout and I will have to go through and repaint everything. This is very frustrating as well as time consuming. All could have been avoided with some simple taping. Im glad I asked them to spare the carpet but didn't realize I had to micromanage them to tape off the white base boards. I'm not sure if I would recommend Master Floors as they have created more work for me after paying them to do a good job. read more

Santos and his office guru Charlie were both really responsive and helpful during the long process of our remodel. We had to reschedule having our floors refinished numerous times thanks to construction delays on other parts of our project but Charlie was always very understanding and helpful with their calendar. Our Brazilian Cherry floors run through almost the whole house, and have seen a lot of wear and tear over the years. Santos patched in new material where we re-configured the kitchen, repaired damaged areas and refinished everything. It looks SO beautiful now I'm reluctant to put my furniture back! I should also mention the house was spotless when he'd finished, and not a mark or drop of stain on my newly white-painted walls or kitchen cabinets. I have not recently spoken to someone as impolite over the phone as the supposed owner of the place. He started yelling at me over the phone when I asked about the pricing of his services and said that unless I am a licensed agent he cannot give me any info. Did not even want to hear what I had to say, was simply rude, rude and rude from the start. When I told him that I am trying to get some basic information to see whether I connect him to my housing agent to schedule a visit, he yelled that he does not do things this way and that I should find someone else. I hired Master Floors to refinish our hardwood floor that had been ruined by another company. Santos and his guys did a beautiful job. They showed up on time everyday. They prepped/covered everything that I could not remove from the walls. Kept everything very clean. There was one small problem as they were doing the job and Santos was excellent about correcting it right away and making sure that the finished job was perfect. I have great respect for Santos, as even though our job ran longer than expected, he did not bump the next customer out. He simple came after 5pm to work to finish my job. Many times contractor will start at job, then move on to another one and leaving the customer waiting and waiting to finish (or start) your job. Santos is true to his word. When he says he will be there, he will! That is extremely important to me when I hire someone. I would highly recommend Master Floors (in fact, recommended them to my friend who has already hired them as well and is extremely happy with the results!). SANTOS, The refinished oak floor is beautiful. In fact it is better than when the house was originally constructed. I moved into the house when I was 10 years old in 1964. I've seen other hardwood floors that were finished by other flooring contractors and most of them are uneven at best. The repairs to portions of the oak floor that could not be saved are perfectly blended into the original floor. If I did not know where the repairs were made, I'd be hard pressed to discern them from the original floor. The plank vinyl flooring install in the kitchens and bathrooms is also outstanding!
