I go to Apple ready to shell out $330 and the tech basically starts an argument with me that I had water damage from the cloudy lens and they can only replace the phone outright for of course nearly $200 more than I paid for it. They treated me like I was trying to pull one over on them when the damage had nothing to do with water. Lame. Ali not only perfectly replaced my screen with another oled aftermarket but for $155 after a $5 coupon the ATT rep at the Colley store gave me. Advance the clock a few weeks and I end up cracking my screen again. Took it back and he replaced the screen in under 10 minutes this time. Dude is good. If you have to get your screen repaired, stop by this kiosk in the Greenbrier Mall, git-r-done and save yourself some $$ in the process! Check-in with the Yelp app and you get a free ($5 value) glass protector screen. And, no, it doesn't void your warranty. Quick story: I needed to have my iPhone battery replaced and the Apple Store tech said that the screen needed to be fixed first because it was sure to get worse when he went in for the repair. I told the Apple guy that I would have my screen replaced by a 3rd-party vendor before bringing it in for the battery swap. He said as long as the vendor didn't touch the battery, all would be well. And it was. New screen by the 3rd-party and new $29 battery from Apple. Back in business!

There was no way to remove the battery & stop the beeping. The display indicated it had reached the end of its life. Everything I found in research was for units whose battery could be replaced. FINALLY I found a Reddit post for the same model which detailed how to stop the beeping. Whewww.,.... The next step was to find a location that would accept it for recycling since it couldn't be disposed of with regular trash. The city, even the 2nd Precinct Police Station, was absolutely no help. Finally.....I found this close business & it was still open. I called Mr. Fix, telling him what I had, and he confirmed that he would take this evil device that had ruined my afternoon. The outside of the store was well maintained with nice signage & tasteful advertising on the windows. Entering the store I found a clean, neatly organized business with a friendly man behind the counter. He immediately knew who I was, probably from my still present vestiges of the continuous beeping stress. He immediately popped open the sealed compartment, removed the battery & cut out a capacitor. We discussed his personal projects that I know require soldering skills that are hard to find in today's generation. Having been in the electronics repair business for 25 years, I recognized him as someone who was competent in his skills & enjoyed electronics repair. Although my experience with the business was in electronics recycling I would feel comfortable with his working on my beloved iPhone & iPad. I'm happy that he will make use of the components in devices recycled with him (not in Phones or Tablets, of course). They won't end up in a garbage dump. The location is in the strip shopping center located on the southeast corner of the intersection on Pleasure House Road & Shore Drive. Parking is adequate. I found a space directly in front of the business. This is a business I would highly recommend for electronics recycling. From my observations of his care & work on the circuit board of the evil unit that I had abandoned, I would think he showed equal care on devices brought to him for repair.

I called 2x more and was THEN told that they are really busy and backed up and needed another week. Another week....is all I could get from him as an update. Its been 1 month and a full week and he still never fixed it, nor did he ever call me to provide an update. I finally had had it and went to pick up my laptop and not use his business. He had taken some time to even locate my laptop when we asked for it back. I should have been more aware when I came there, as the store is literally stuffed from front door to the back and ceiling with electronics, in disarray and barely any space to walk in there. I should have been told at drop off how backed up they were, that it would take a while to even get to my laptop from the start. Had I known that, I never would have left it there to begin with.
