I appreciate that there is an adult class I can attend at night, which doesn't interfere with my work or family obligations. As a parent, I did not want the franchise experience. I wanted someone with extensive background in Tae Kwon Do. I found that in Master Chen. Her impressive history, including being an international referee, drew my attention. Each of her instructors are carefully vetted. I have had great experiences with her staff and their interaction with the children. It was important to me that my child not just have a drop-off place where the kids just run around on their own whims. I wanted a structured program to teach discipline, have fun, and keep her exercising. Before I committed, they offered a trial class. My daughter had a lot of fun and immediately asked to sign up. The first week keep in mind the boy and girl was doing the same as my daughter but the girl wasn't doing as good as mine with the jump kicks. We all come another day that same week and the girl and boy they get awarded my daughter didn't get anything the whole time we was there those kids kept getting awarded and my daughter he stopped saying good job doing nicely it was all on those two so he can keep the money rolling in. Even she kept wondering why they were being rewarded and she wasn't and she started to get yelled at he said she wasn't doing the kicks right all a sudden and she was getting nervous.

I bumped into the owner (TKD & BJJ Black Belt instructor) Jimmy Holmes before they opened this new location as I was peering through the windows after getting a coffee next door. I ended up getting a full tour of the facility & the plans for their use of the back building to be a competition/tournament sized mat space with a weight training setup as well. It is a beautiful facility, they're still doing upgrades here & there, but my favorite little fact about it is that the dumbbell rack in the back goes all the way up to 150lbs!! They offer a great selection of youth classes with a mix of high level men & women instructors. The team, THE TEAM!! They have competition medal winners across the board in martial arts & a great team atmosphere! Boys, girls, men, women, tons of competitors & winners, but minimal ego. Personally, I was only living here while I completed an internship for my degree program, but they've been very welcoming & accommodating during my short stay with them. He is more interested in your money than your kids. He attends very few classes in person but passes classes off to his "assistant" and some high school kids. He has his "teacher's pets" and spends the majority of his time telling them how great he is and regaling everyone with "Glory Days" stories. I would not recommend Olympia Tae Kwan Do to anyone.
