A $2,000 tankless water heater was quoted at $5,000 (so we bought it from Home Depot and had them install). $100 worth of vent pipe was then billed at $700. Less than impressed. We had some basement flooding and reached out to Master Blasters for a scope of our perimeter drain. Someone came out, conducted a PARTIAL scope (said he couldn't see everything due to location of pipe), said the next step would be to hydro jet the pipe because they saw some dirt/clay blockage. Charged a service fee. On the day they were scheduled to hydro jet, got a call that they mis-booked our appointment and had to reschedule, because they didn't block off enough time for the work. We rescheduled. On the rescheduled date to hydro jet, they came back and said, actually we want to scope again before charging you for the hydro jet. This time miraculously they could conduct a full scope. Charged another service fee. So, we were charged twice and wasted time to do the thing they were originally supposed to do on the very first visit!! Gave us a quote for work needed: $27,000. We'll be seeking a second opinion/other quotes. read more

I've been their customer for years, but today I realized I've never written the great review they deserve. I've used them for every kind of home plumbing, including running a gas line for a new stove. Tony came to my house today to repair one toilet and ended up inspecting and caulking all the toilets in my house for the same price he quoted for the first one. In a world where the buyer must beware, this is one company that doesn't oversell or upcharge or do anything unethical while at the same time doing very professional and competent work. I too purchased the coupon from Angie's list for Master Blaster and I won't ever do that again! Leak in bathroom behind faucet -- this much we already knew. Plumber broke the tiles to remove faucet and verify leak --- attached a new faucet (I did not request this as I was purchasing a full new set) ---- he insisted that the new faucet had to be attached to stop leak ---- surprise -- even with new ($59.50) faucet attached it still leaked. $259.50 later he was out the door. I contacted a different plumber who -- for $220 re-did the copper piping to stop the leak and got everything ready for tile guy to replace tile and attach new faucets, etc read more

Saw a tv show about a water heater bursting and wondered about ours. Talked with Craig at Master Blaster about having our water heater checked using an Angie's List coupon. He explained patiently and thoroughly why I could save by not purchasing the coupon until after the technician came out. If work needed to be done, I could buy the coupon at that time and use it. As I described the brand of H2O heater, he explained that particular brand would probably last 8-12 years - we've had it for 9.5 which reassured me that we could wait until the warmer weather for a test and/or a replacement. I see the other Yelpers comments which are the exact opposite of Angie's List members comments. I'm thinking plumbers are the new lawyers in people's minds but if I have plumbing problems - I mean if my house has - I'll call Master Blaster. Methinks there'll be a follow up review... read more

I purchased a coupon from Angie's List -- the coupon was for sewer line inspection for $55.00. Sounded like a great deal, so I called to have them come out to the house. I mentioned to Master Blaster that I have two slow drain and a toilet that plugs on occasion and am concerned that perhaps tree roots are blocking the sewer line and wanted an inspection. I was very clear about this when I made the appointment for someone to come to the house. When Robert arrived, he very politely asked me what I needed and I repeated the issues. He replied that he could not inspect the sewer line until I had the drains cleaned; however, he was very eager to arrange for someone to come out on another day to clean the drains... at an additional cost, of course. I was not amused and asked him to leave. After he left, I contacted Angie's List and requested a refund of the coupon purchase. In my opinion, this company's business model is based on bait-and-switch. At the very least, the coupon should state that drain cleaning is required before the drains can be inspected. My hot water heater was a few years past life expectancy and leaking badly. These guys have great reviews on Angies List and Google, and their price for a hot water replacement was very competitive. The initial consult for the hot water heater replacement with one guy was a bit bumpy but the company quickly made good on it, very proactive, quick scheduling, sent one of their best guys to do the work, no problems whatsoever, did the work as quoted, made me a happy camper (with a working shower!). I'm not sure why they are lower rated here on Yelp, other than its just a small handful of reviews, and maybe a bit of bad luck or miscommunication. 14 reviews here compared to a hundred or more on the other sites... trust the larger numbers! I'll use them again for future projects! read more

Rating is based on customer service, not any actual work done. Called and they scheduled a clean and scope for early afternoon (1-3pm window). At 1:20 called and said would have to push to tomorrow from 4-6pm! This significant of a push is unacceptable. I would have been fine with same day later in the evening or even early the next day, but to push more than 24 hours after already being within THEIR stated window of arrival is poor management. Had no trouble finding another company to accommodate. There are plenty of businesses out there, no need to tolerate poor scheduling / management. read more

I'm very surprised at all the poor reviews here. We have had nothing but good luck with MB. It started when my parents house main water line broke. They were very professional, had someone out within an hour to check out the situation, and they were back out the following morning bright and early to start the job. It was an all day deal (Two if you count redoing the pavement)....we were only without water for a day. Price was ouch but...what do you expect. Now...when I purchased my house, (HUD) it had some plumbing escrow, I originally went with another plumbing company in which we were NOT pleased with at all. So my future plumbing ventures, I went back to MB. They have been out numerous times mainly for clogged drains we couldn't snake ourselves. This was mainly the fault of me, throwing too much down the garbage disposal. The beauty is if the same job needs repeating within 30 days, it's free. Unfortunately I've taken full advantage of that numerous times. The first few months living here it got to the point they started waving their travel fee for me.. After a while we were all tired of it, so they finally set me up with a pipe scope. Turns out their horribly caked...which is why I was clogging it all so easily. They need to be blasted....but I haven't gotten around to that. I just simply don't put anything but water/liquid down the sink now and it seems to have the situation under control until I find the funds to clean the pipes. Then, in December 2012 our tub started to leak. The first MB guy came out and gave us the bad news that it appeared our tub had rotted and we'd pretty much need a remodel. I called to get it set up, but instead of setting it up, the following day they sent out Ross (Owner) and his son to take a look. Ross, Much to my huge surprise they said they could see what the other plumber was talking about, but there was a fix that could be done as opposed to spending thousands on a remodel....I squeaked away with a bill of about $800 (And that was a weekend bill!) I won't go with another plumbing company....they have bent over backwards to help me out, time and time again. Their prices are good.. But...I'm getting ready to call about a frozen pipe. Decided to get a quote for a vanity, toilet, and shower replacement from this company. Unfortunately they want to charge you an arm and a leg for even the smallest jobs (there are closets bigger than my bathroom) and the quoted price doesn't even cover hardware just labor. Decided to take a look on Home Advisor and found that I should only pay half as much from the quoted price hardware included. When I asked the technician (Junior) why the quote was astronomically high he claimed it was a "custom" job and therefore would cost more. Ironically before I could deny the quote via e-mail the company had already denied it from their website.. what kind of plumbing company gives an insanely high quote just to deny it themselves? Five years ago, I gave Master Blaster a 5-star review and have recommended them to friends. Not after today. Their technician was great, but the owner is simply awful. I called them to fix the height of the sewer clean-outs that they installed well below the grade of my patio five years ago. Understanding that I should have exercised the five-year warranty earlier, I asked the owner, Ross, for it to be corrected at cost. I reminded him that I spent about $12,000 with his company five years ago and have continued to recommend them. Ross insisted that the work was done correctly to begin with. I told him I have pictures from five years ago, but thought we could come to agreement without spending lots of time negotiating a few hundred dollars. I didn't want to dicker about the price, just be treated fairly. He became rude, condescending and unprofessional. When I told him I didn't like the way he was speaking to me, he told me that he was going to recall the technician, the work would not be done, and I should never call them again. I can certainly agree to his last demand. If you choose this company, be prepared to carefully inspect their work before you pay them because Ross does not back up his work. read more

T.G.F.M Thank god for Master Blaster Ok lets just start by me telling you how effective these guys are. Everyone I talked to from that company really knows their stuff. If your wife decides to put too much food down the disposal and you run out of ideas as to how to make your kitchen sink start to drain again these are the guys too call. I have used other companies in the past for plumbing problems but Master Blaster is simply the best. They made a point of explaining to me what my problem was, provided me with a estimate to complete the work needed to fix my problem. Than within a short period of time everything was working properly again. They left no mess behind and I was so relieved when the plumber told me no unnecessary repairs are ever recommended from his company. Everyone from the incredibly knowledgeable and friendly gentleman who answered the phone to the plumber who came out and saved my day was awesome worth every penny! read more

Master Blaster P&D is a great example of how customer service and complete work should be. I was selling my house and had a potentially large problem, according to the home inspector. I called Ross and the crew and they sent out someone to scope the sewer. They sent 3 quotes, all of which fixed the problem. However, they were up front when they told me that option 1 (the least expensive) was good enough, and that the next 2 options would potentially be going overboard. I called several other companies and they quoted me outrageous prices compared to MB P&D. Any time I have an issue that is plumbing related, I call these guys. They must have me on their watch list, because I often call them for things that aren't plumbing related too! They must roll their eyes at me :) read more

I purchased the coupon from Angie's list for Master Blaster to look at my kitchen sink because it was backing up and leaking under the cabinet. After doing the diagnostic for the issue I was told it would take $590 to fix the problem. At this point the pipes under the sink were snaked and the PVC leading from the sink to the kitchen line were replaced. After the work was completed, we were told that IF the work he did not fix the problem THEN the company would send out a camera to check the kitchen line. This was my first indication that the first plumber was not confident in the work he had done but apparently was confident to charge me $590. When I got home from work I checked the sink to see if the problem had been fixed and it was the exact same as it had been before the plumber came out no change at all. I called them back and they sent the camera guys out who found out that the problem had nothing to do with the pipes that were replaced but that the kitchen line was cracked and needed to be replaced instead which would cost me another $2000 to fix. At this point I had already been charged the money so I figured I would call the office and they would reimburse me for the work that the first guy did since it had nothing to do with the actual problem and was under warranty for a year. I would have been happy with even a partial reimbursement at this point. They comped me the camera which was $99 and had to give me another $60 because they charged my credit card twice which overdrafted my account. Now I have to say that the girl in the office and the camera guy were very pleasant to work with and helpful but that being said I will tell you where they lost a customer and why I will never refer anyone to them for services in the future... Ross, the owner, was supposed to call me back to speak with me about my dissatisfaction over the $590 of warrantied work that was done which did not fix my sink at all. He did not call me and I gave him a week until I finally picked up the phone and called them back. I spoke with another office person who was also very pleasant and helpful who took another message for Ross as he would not give me his number to contact him directly. When Ross finally called me he was rude, insulting, raised his voice a number of times and hung up on me. He insinuated that I was a liar and was just trying to get out of paying my bill for warrantied services that did not leave me any closer to the problem being fixed than they did before being performed. He threatened to "take my house" which is not valid because I have already paid and was just requesting that I be compensated back since what I paid for did nothing to fix the problem. At this point I have not heard back from Ross after being hung up on and assume that I probably will not hear from him again. I caution anyone working with this company to do your research before agreeing to services. My sink is in the same condition it was in before I paid $590 for them to do nothing and when I asked to be compensated back even some of the money I was bullied and threatened by Ross the owner until he finally just hung up on me because I would not fold under his insults and threats. He is lucky he has other staff working with customers who are so nice because he would have none if his attitude and lack of customer service is an acceptable business practice. read more

We had a similar experience to the other reviewers. The snake guy, Manny, was very nice, but he didn't use the right size blades, rushed the snaking and didn't get the roots out. This was proved by an independent scoping company. When asked for a recall on the work, the owner, Ross, was a real piece of work. He lies, makes excuses, rants, and accuses. He told us one story, then our realtor something else. It's too much to go into here...but you get the idea.. work done wrong, then twice as much money to have him fix it. Our main line sprung a huge leak-- 60gph. I had several quotes done from companies. Their quote came in the middle, not the cheapest, not the most expensive. They were going to pull through a new copper line. They showed up at 8am sharp, and were done by 6pm. Amazing work, that crew worked their butts off. My crawlspace was very tight, and not comfortable working conditions at all. Over all they did a great job, job site was cleaned up. No leaks. Wonderful crew. read more

Master Blaster Trevor was called to come to my home to fix a garbage disposal that wasn't working or draining. He was so professional! He did a whole assessment of our houses plumbing. He was polite and definitely knew his stuff!! He figured out that the way our disposal was installed was incorrect, and was in fact leaking and causing water damage as well. He fixed everything and double checked to make sure everything was working properly. He also explained and showed us where the problems were! He cleaned up when he was done and didn't leave my kitchen a mess-very important to the ladies :) !!! I have had a lot of bad contractors/plumbers that have done incomplete work and to have him was just amazing! I had a slow drain in my house and they were able to get that fixed no problem but they also noticed some other issues I was unaware of with some pipes and I had a hole in my disposer. Awesome attention to detail and very fast friendly service. Very informative and also let me know other future issues to keep an eye out for. This guy called me on Saturday night because my check from 7 months ago wasn't deposited correctly. He claimed my account was closed, which it was not. He then sent me an email threatening to send me to a collections agency in 7 business days. When I researched the issue and found that it was his banks fault, he won't return my emails or calls. I would sooner light $10 on fire than pay his return check fee. He waited 7 months to get in touch with me then threatens to send me to collections!!!!!!!!!!!! He snaked the drain, as I remember didn't want to honor a $20 coupon or some offer I got from Angie's list (I can't remember for sure as it was 7 MONTHS AGO!!) Now he's trying to send me to collections and won't return my calls or emails... sounds like there are probably a hundred or so other plumbers in Denver that might treat you like a normal customer. I have used Master Blaster three times - once to fix a leaking pipe, once to clear my mainline, and once to install a new toilet. The two service technicians (same tech did the last two jobs) were extremely pleasant and made a point of explaining everything they did. I was given a price estimate before they began the services, and I found their prices to be extremely competitive. Frank, the tech that did the most recent jobs, did a great job of outlining options for keeping the lines clear in the future, and also took the time to discuss what toilet might be best for me - and didn't attempt to hard sell me on a more expensive product. I also appreciated the fact that I received follow-up calls from the office to make sure I was satisfied with the work. I give the highest rating for the quality of both the technicians and the services, and would happily recommend the company to friends that needed plumbing work done. read more
