I came to Massale for the first time last year and absolutely loved it. The food was fresh and seasonal and prepared in inventive ways, and the service was great. Unfortunately, when I came back this year the quality of food and service had definitely declined.
They advertise a set 3 course menu for €45 euros, but 2/3 of the menu options cost extra, so the total cost per person without drinks was more like €55-60. My octopus entree was ok and the scallops were prepared pretty well, but my boyfriend got the duck (not pictured) and it had a really grainy texture and very bitter aftertaste. Having paid €5 extra for that dish it was very disappointing. We waited 30 minutes between having our main course plates taken away and getting our dessert (absurdly long even in France). The chocolate ganache was very good, but the rice pudding was nothing to write home about.
I really loved this restaurant but after this recent experience I probably won't be returning. read more
