Beware of MassageLuXe Naperville - A Cautionary Experience from a Former Loyal Customer I'm writing this review to warn others about my experience with MassageLuXe of Naperville, Illinois, in the hopes that no one else falls into the same trap. This business is not built on long-term customer satisfaction, but rather on rigid policies, poor communication, and a clear lack of care for loyal clients. I had been a member of MassageLuXe Naperville for nearly six months. I didn't join for the ambiance or the brand - I joined solely because my trusted masseuse, whom I had known for years through my chiropractor, started working there. Things were going fine until I had to cancel my membership due to work commitments that would take me out of the country for half the year. Since it made no sense to continue paying for services I couldn't use, I canceled my membership. At the time of cancellation, I was told I had until May 27, 2025, to use all my accumulated massage hours or I'd lose them. So, I immediately booked appointments to use up my remaining time. Unfortunately, my preferred masseuse wasn't available for most of them, and I had subpar experiences with other therapists -- wasting 150 minutes (at $120/hour) of what should have been relaxing and therapeutic time. For my final remaining one-hour massage, I asked the front desk if I could schedule it with my regular masseuse. The staff member told me she was available on May 31st, 2025, and assured me that even though it was after May 27, it would be fine since I was scheduling it within the same month. Based on her word, I booked it. Fast forward to today, May 31st, I arrived for my appointment only to be told by a different staff member that I'd have to pay $120 out of pocket because the appointment was outside the valid usage window in the cancellation policy. I calmly explained that I had been explicitly told otherwise by the person who rescheduled it -- who was standing right there -- but instead of acknowledging the miscommunication or attempting to make it right, I was met with rude and dismissive behavior. I was given two options: pay $120 or leave. No apology. No effort to take responsibility for their mistake. Just cold, transactional treatment. Let me be clear: this is not about the money. It's about how customers are treated. I had intended to return and pay full price every time I was back in the country, as long as my preferred therapist was there. But after today, I will never return to this location or any MassageLuXe branch. To the front desk staff: you may have collected $85 today by denying me my final session, but you've lost a customer who would have happily spent over $1,000 a year. To MassageLuXe corporate: if you care about the reputation of your brand and the growth of your franchises, I hope this review encourages you to invest in better customer service training and empower your staff to take accountability for their own scheduling mistakes. Think twice, or even four times, before signing up for any membership with MassageLuXe of Naperville. Before every session we talk about what area needs help and throughout my sessions she checks in to make sure the pressure is okay and to how I'm feeling. Worst, worst experience ever!!!!!. Ill mannered, unprofessional front desk staff. On top of it, liers. Especially a representative named Holly. They manipulated membership hours, gave different information every time I spoke with them and then accuse you of speaking in 'raised voice' when actually they are raising their voice. What they are actually doing is trying to create a scene to avoid logical reasoning. An example of their illogical behaviour 7-3 is not 4 for them and 4-2 is not 2 for them. A member doesnt have access to the hours utilized, the staff just makes up some numbers without reasoning. Here even after paying hundred of dollars, they didnt provide the service for the hours paid for. This center is run by unethical staff.. I am sure I am not the only one who had to experience this. I am traumized after the extremely sad experience today.. I would definitely not suggest this place to anyone. They are cheats!!!! read more

So far, so good. I bought a Groupon for a 60 min massage. Erik gave me a deep tissue massage and I thought it was excellent. I didn't specify any areas of concern but I feel like he spent the perfect amount of time on each body part and the pressure was good too. I ended up signing up for the monthly membership because I enjoyed this massage more than the ones I had been getting previously. Your first month is $10. After that, the "discount" is $65 but they did indicate you can cancel as long as you've stuck around for 1 month. I'm hoping I don't have the same negative experiences other people have reported. read more

A little surprised by the poor reviews on here - I personally had a great first experience with MassageLuxe! Everyone is super friendly and professional, and Sean knew exactly where to find the knots that I had without me pointing them out. HydroLuxe bed was really relaxing too. Facility is clean and sanitizer is available in every room and corner. Masks are enforced and everybody followed guidelines with them , as well as keeping distance. I didn't have to wait for a long time and I wasn't cheated of any minutes during my session too. Overall I'd recommend! read more

I saw Chichi for a prenatal massage and can't speak highly enough about her and my experience! I've had a few massages in my life but this was my first prenatal. Even with the limitations of pregnancy, this was the best massage I've ever had! She worked out knots I have had for months and I left feeling more relaxed and comfortable than I have in months. I had purchased 4 promotional deals (2 were accident). I called to get the 2 refunded from another location, the woman said I could keep them and use the extras for me. I used the first and had a great first experience with Carolina as a masseuse she did an excellent job. When I came back to use my second deal the owner was somewhat abrasive in her communication on not supposed to use the 2nd deal and ultimately I felt uncomfortable even being there. Her communication style is a far representation of what a self care business should look like. I will not come back to this location despite having a great massage the possibility of seeing the owner kills it for me. read more

The first introductory massage I had gotten done was pretty good. It was hard to find reviews because the place has only been open for 6 months. Matla was the therapist and I had the introductory 60 minute Swedish massage session with her. She was pretty good, at par with other massage places I've been to. They gave me 15 minutes of the Hydrolux Massage machine as a complimentary trial. It was good but it didn't compare to the actual massage. All in all, the service was good and the place is clean and new. My second trip however, was quite disappointing. They reached out to me with another complimentary offer for the 90 minute massage. I booked it and went there on a very slow day (weekday with heavy snowfall) so there were hardly any other customers. The massage started 5 minutes late and was ended 10 minutes early. The therapist kept yawning throughout the session (approximately 10 -12 yawns in total). I get that it's probably not the most interesting thing in the world to massage a stranger's back but you can stifle the yawns no? Anyway, after she was done, she just disappeared. Typically the therapist waits outside and walks you back to the reception but she was just gone. Once I was back at the counter, there was the usual aggressive sales pitch to sign up right there and then to get the monthly massage package. Also, they were going to charge me gratuity at the full massage rate even though they said I had the introductory discounted rate. Not sure why the 2nd time was such a letdown though. The rates are quite high compared to other establishments and there is little to no benefit over them. Will think before going here again. read more

For the 3 sessions I had all of them started late and ended early. Also it took 2 sessions for my massage therapist to really know my areas of pain and my preferences of massage. I intentionally scheduled around her hours to get her specifically each time. On my 3rd session I was told that she no longer could sustain the intense deep tissue massage that I clearly stated I needed from the beginning before I signed up. On the 3rd session which I signed up for 90 minutes, they ended up assigning a different massage therapist that was very nice but did a mediocre job despite me telling her several times during the massage that her deep tissue massage was not hard enough at all. Excellent! Staff was really friendly. Deep tissue massage was actually a deep tissue massage, most places don't use as much pressure as I need, and this was perfect! I have severe knots in my neck and bulging discs. I normally see a chiropractor through the VA, but it was the weekend and I was in desperate need, I had such a bad migraine because of the pain I was in. The next morning I woke up and I felt a million times better! He took the time to listen to what I was there for and my concerns before my appointment started. And I was surprised when I actually got a full hour massage, most places do not do this and they cut you short unfortunately.. awesome first experience! I am editing my review, as I went in for a another massage on Sunday. The therapist did not massage the areas that I needed and asked for. my main concern is my neck and she massaged my neck for about 5 minutes if that and then completely just did whatever she wanted too. She was very vocal and every time she would start talking she would stop massaging. I did not get a full hour or even close to it. and needless to say I was in so much pain on Monday I had to go and see my chiropractor, to get a massage even though I just paid for one the day before. As soon as they get you to sign up for a membership is the moment they start taking advantage. They also lie to you about your membership and how long it can be, the lady told me I could cancel it at any time and when I told the manager I wanted to cancel it, due to my horrible experience and that I will not set foot in that place ever again, she told me that I couldn't that I had to wait a month. This business has a lot of issues and complaints with the better business bureau as well I would just recommend staying away from here. Terrible massage! I asked for my low back and chest to be massaged and the massage therapist never touched by low back and spent maybe a minute on my chest despite my repeated requests. I purchased $200 in gift certificates for my wife and she had a horrible time using them. This place asked for original emails of the purchase when she had the certificates printed out...who does that??? She felt so offended. The owner made her feel like she was a crook...was it a racial incident? Is that why she was stopped and asked a million questions about a certificate that she clearly had that had a barcode on it. I do not appreciate her and my daughter treated in this way. I will be calling corporate to report this location!!! This location seems to watch their associates via camera because as soon as my wife started to check out the phone rang and then she all of the sudden had to submit all this additional paperwork. We will not go back to this place. We signed a contract but later canceled due to costs. According to representative I spoke to, we still had hours to use for massage therapy. Upon calling to use minutes, I was told we didn't have minutes because we needed to use within 30 days. This was never conveyed to us. Plus, it was not possible to use minutes within that timeframe. I booked a appointment with a groupon voucher for a hour massage. I arrived 25 mins early and received 15 mins on the hydro massage machine because I filled out paper work first I was told to get on the hydro massage machine 13 mins before my massage appointment. I figured my massage would still start on time and go for the full hour. The masseuse did not come and get me to start my massage until 11 mins going into the massage. The masseuse was absolutely great but I was not fond of not getting the full hour when it was not my fault we did not start on time. After that I had a hour facial where I was told to use the bathroom prior and get comfortable by the time the ethestican asked me questions and made me comfortable we were about 10 mins into the appointment time for the facial and of course I did not receive the full hour. Nevertheless both were great but just wished I was given the full hour. It was my birthday so I was in good spirits and did not want to complain. When it was time to check out the front desk agent charged my card for the wrong amount and that kinda put a damper on my day since she stated it would not be returned for 5-7 days. I remained calm and went about my day. The money was returned within 2-3 days. The experience was nice but I'd recommend giving full hours if that's what's paid for or informing the customer the time they spend changing and using the restroom will cut into their massage or facial time regardless if that's offered to them out of courtesy. Best job anyone has done on my eyebrows (and for only $15, but mine was free because I got the facial with it, limited time only)! Terrible and worst customer service ever! Wouldn't let me cancel my membership after being told it was a no contract. The billing time isn't even close for the month, I don't want to pay for something I didn't use and know that I'm not going to use. That's just stupid and a waste of money. I had a appointment he first time there and I waited 2 hours after my appointment time. What's the point of an appointment if you have to wait anyways! I gifted one of my massages and the person still had to pay and they forgot the add ons. What happened to the customer is always right and should leave happy... guess they don't go by that they just care about the pay checks. I left hurting more then when I first went. This place is excellent!!! Cici spoke with me over the phone, helped me book my massage, and was the first person greeting me with a warm smile as I walked in! The hydroluxe machine before the massage really helped loosen me up and got me in the "massage mindset". I am a hairstylist so naturally I have back issues, Phelicia gave me a phenomenal deep tissue massage, targeting areas she knew I put more stress on from my job! This girl has magic hands!!! I highly recommend!!! Also when I went to check out, Cici explained to me the massage plans available! unlike other massage places I've been to in naperville, massage luxe doesn't rope you into a 6 Mo-year long contract. And Cici was not pushy at all when explaining their plans, making my checkout experience way less stressful than it usually is. .
