I came here because I found a killer deal on their website. It was around $50 for a full hour massage which is hard to beat. I made an appointment online (availability was about 2 days out) and requested a female masseuse. I forgot the name of the staff member that was assigned to me, but she was really pleasant and kind. The massage itself was nice and the pressure was good. The facility was clean and I felt good leaving. I'd check out some other spots in the area, but wouldn't hate returning! read more

I have been a member 10+ years. The GM, Rose, told me today she will not honor the value of two gift cards purchased and neither can be used to pay for a massage in full unless used by someone who has never visited MassageLuxe. One of the gift cards was specifically purchased for 1.5 hour massage with 2 add-ons (and it's indicated as such on the gift card). Quite disappointing. After hiring this new GM, Rose, and the recent incident with the massage therapist pleading guilty to sexual assault you would think they would be focused on retaining customers. To note: The massage therapists and estheticians I have used have been wonderful along with the employees at the front desk. read more

Do not recommend. Worst massage I've ever had. My appointment time started late and ended early despite the 10 min factored in for undressing/dressing. Not impressed with the massage therapist at all. No consistency or technique. Uncomfortable pauses and talkative. Overall place did not seem to have operations in check or figured out. read more

Update: The manager, Becca, called me and offered for me to come in with a different MT, Cliff. He was absolutely amazing! Thank you Becca & Cliff!! I went to this location for a deep tissue massage because I've been suffering with lower back spasms. (First of all, while in the waiting room I heard him complaining to his coworker that he had one more massage for the day.) I relayed my concerns to John, my MT. i have to say this was the most bizarre experience I've had with a massage. He basically laid all of his weight on my back to the point I couldn't breathe easily. No massaging of my muscles. None. Then he asked if I'd like for him to keep working on my back or move on to legs, arms, neck. I stated I just wanted a regular massage. He the proceeds to start rubbing my calf. Like, just the surface. Making tiny circles with NO pressure at all. It made me super uncomfortable. I walked out 20 minutes in. What a waste of money. And no relief from my back pain. read more

First visit at Massage Luxe in Kirkwood and had DANIELLE as my therapist for a 1 hour DEEP TISSUE massage. First off, Danielle was 6 minutes late bringing me back to the room and didn't start the massage until 15 minutes after my appointment started. Massage ended at 5 minutes till to the hour which ended up being a 40 minute massage. She talked the entire time! I was scheduled for a deep tissue massage but no massaging of any tissue was done. I spent 40 minutes of listening to her talk, repeatedly yawn, and using one hand to rub oil on my skin. I told her an area on my upper back to focus on and she paid no attention to it. I even asked her half way through (thinking maybe she was just preparing my skin for the actual deep tissue massage??) to use more pressure and rolling. She didn't respond and went back into talking about herself and yawning. Another issue was off to me that she sat down behind me to rub oil on my shoulders and neck. Never had I had a therapist sit to give a massage. Left there very disappointed and will not be returning to this location. Only giving one star because the facility was nice and clean and receptionist was friendly and professional. read more

Massage Luxe in Kirkwood. I went for a 90 min massage a couple months ago and was flabbergasted that the massage was$180.00. Clarence is their best massage therapist. But I won't go back to pay over $200.00 including a tip, when you can get them at a lesser price at many other places. I'm giving the massage a 5 star but a 1 star on price. read more

Fantastic experience the other day at Luxe Kirkwood. I was scheduled for a facial and then a massage. I did not have to wait long for Hannah to call me back regarding the facial. She is such a delight! I thoroughly enjoyed my facial. My skin feels so smooth! I was informed that my massage therapist had to go home sick. And that Luxe did not have anyone else for me that day. While I was disappointed, I appreciated the way that they tried to accommodate me and just couldn't. This business is well run with super helpful and polite stuff. It is my Definite go to place! read more

Worst couples massage ever! We were assigned Danielle and I can't remember the other therapists name. They both literally fell asleep on us while in the process of massaging us. It was scheduled as a hour and half massage and they literally had one hand on our back and were sleeping!! I had to keep moving to wake her back up. Don't waste ur time or money. won't be going back. read more

I have to agree with what the other negative reviewers are saying. The first prenatal masseuse I had was so rude that I actually walked out of the appointment and rescheduled with someone else. The others I had were OK, but inundated me with questions (always a relaxing experience)! And of course, there is the extremely confusing, anti-relaxing process of hearing their membership spiel. I have only been here because I have received gift certificates, otherwise I definitely would have gone somewhere else, and recommend you do as well. read more

I walked in and was whisked away to my room, where I was asked a few questions about what I would like to address with my massage and the pressure I preferred. My massage therapist's name was Clarence. He did an amazing job!! And he even explained what he was doing - it was one of the best massages I have had in STL. I even fell asleep the last half, and I never fall asleep...It was nirvana. The place is clean and easy to navigate. I did see a mention about he parking lot being difficult to maneuver on here-it's not. It's right off to the side of the building and there were at least 8 parking spaces open-on a Saturday afternoon. It shares the lot with TMobile. And I was not pressured or even asked to open a membership. I just needed to update my info. Easy-breezy and sooo relaxing. I will be back to see Clarence soon!! read more

Update: the manager is giving me massage credits as an adjustment. while I'd prefer a cash refund, at least it's something.

I have been going here for years and it is often good, but after my last experience there I will never go back. I had a massage with Sheila and she asked way too many questions and shared way too many observations about my body. She pointed out a dry patch of skin, a welt, and a scar. And then she asked me to explain all of it and share details about the conditions I have. All of that was before telling me that she thought I had edema (I don't) because my ankle looked swollen. When I explained I had been born with club feet and it was a deformity, again she claimed it was swollen and claimed she did an edema test on it. Then she told me that the way my foot curved made her think I had some kind of nerve problem. Again, I said it was due to having had club feet. Finally, she mentioned a stain on the sheet and began investigating my neck and shoulders. Not only was she incredibly awkward, but she was offensive and didn't know when to just stay quiet. When I left they asked if I wanted to leave a tip (twice) and both times I said no. Nobody asked me why not, and honestly, I didn't want to talk about any of this again. It was a horrible experience and I will not go back. read more

I have always always always wanted a massage, but had never gotten one until last year (so do keep in mind that this is the only massage experience I have had). I hadn't moved to STL yet and one weekend when I was visiting my boyfriend, he surprised me and booked a couples massage there. Woowee! Way to win me over! Honestly, I had no idea what to expect with a massage and I was a little nervous about stripping down to let some random person give me a massage. But I knew the promise of getting all the ridiculous knots out of my back, legs, shoulders and neck would be worth it. The front desk is very nice and professional and I felt right at ease from the minute we walked in there. All of the masseuses we have had have been really great, some more than others though (of course). It just depends on what type of pressure you're looking for I guess. But after a few months of requesting different masseuses each time we went, we each found a masseuse we LOVE. My boyfriend always requests Art & I always request Beth. They're the best!! After our first massage, the bf signed us up for a monthly membership. I think he was trying to be impressive and I sure didn't complain :) We got our membership right after they opened so we're "grandfathered" in the old plan of letting a monthly massage carry over if you don't use it. YES! Now you use it or lose it, which is kind of a bummer, but understandable. A month ago or so we put a freeze on our account because we had a few massages each & didn't want to keep paying when we couldn't keep up with using them. Their account freezing policy is wonderful! You just pay $5/month per account to keep it frozen and once you unfreeze it, the money you have paid gets credited to your account. So you don't lose out on anything at all. Brilliant! We talked to the manager at length last time just to tell her we were really impressed with the services. She was SO nice & approachable. We're definitely fans and will continue to go back! read more

This place is a typical massage business. It was a good massage. I wouldn't say it was the best massage.

OW! Things have changed at the Massageluxe in Kirkwood. I was very satisfied with my massage-a-month schedule---incentive for me to work out, knowing I'll receive a reward for those sore muscles. But, my favorite level 2, Yvette, is no longer with the company (boo hoo). I've tried a few other folks---one had FREEZING hands (and kept apologizing for her freezing hands), another used so much lotion I thought I was going to float away. So, I decided to give it try with a level 2 GUY---and like I said OW!!!!!! More than once, I asked him to reduce the intensity....I was squirming and recoiling from the pressure. He apologized but didn't really let up that much. He told me that in his experience the muscles can take more than the mind. WHAT?! I'm going to try one more time..... read more

I would recommend NOT going here, especially if you are pregnant. Tonight after spending the day raking leaves and working outside, I was looking forward to my massage. I am trying to get rid of massages because I have 10 built up because of Massage Luxe's ridiculous policy (they won't let you use the massages that you have already been charged for every month as a member if you cancel ... so if you get behind on taking them, it's difficult to get caught up and they just keep billing you each month). Five minutes before my appointment as I was on my way, I get a call from them telling me that I need a doctor's approval form to get a massage because I am considered a "high-risk" pregnancy because I had a miscarriage before (which was never confirmed by a doctor because it was so early). I had been to the this same Massage Luxe THREE times during this pregnancy in the last month. One of those times was in the first trimester. Never before had anyone said that getting a massage would be a problem at all. The woman tonight, who was rude, told me she had been in this business for 16 years and was their most experienced masseuse and that she was very concerned about my baby. I would like to cancel my membership and go to a massage place that actually knows what they are doing since I have had three different masseuses at this place tell me three different things about pregnancy massages, but I can't because I have 10 massages that I have already paid for to get through first. Complete ripoff. Do yourself a favor and spend a little extra money to find someone who actually knows what they are doing. read more

I guess I am the queen of fastfood type massage places. lol My theory is that there has to be a diamond in the rough if you go through enough of them. lol. Why pay full price when you can find someone very good at a good price? Anyways, the price is right and the worst that can happen is they don't put enough pressure on my back/shoulders... I had a Groupon so that was the perfect time to try this place. Service: Front Desk: Gracious and asks if you want a free bottle of water, as the norm in most massage places. Tim was my masseuse and he did a good job. Not enough pressure? Of course not but still did a good job. They have men and women masseuses, so whatever you are comfortable with. Why guys you ask? Because if they are professional, of which they usually are, they have stronger hands for the right amount of pressure. I have found very few woman that can last an hour to an hour and a half with giving deep pressure on my mean stiff shoulders/back. Now here is the difference between here and the other cookie-cutter massage competition: The dry water jet massage bed. What is it? A soft leather type somewhat tight, like a drum, over moving jets of water. You do not see the water and you do not get wet. The water pulses against the leather like cover you lay on fully clothed. It is soothing and warm, so is very relaxing ..except for 3 things... -Well first it wasn't fully working. HA! But the good news what was working, my neck area, was a nice warm heating lightly pulsing heating pad. That felt really nice. It was suppose to stream over the full body. What went wrong? I have no idea. The woman at the counter was receptive and said she would get it fixed. -The door to the room is in the front and is only light frosted in areas so people can look in. Now you are fully clothed but it is hard to relax when someone, if curious, can peer in from a far or walk up to the door and look inside. That was not terribly relaxing. -There is a light, although dim, beams down into your closed or opened eyes relentlessly. lol. This is an easy fix, as my big helpful self pointed out (sigh) to the nice staff who agreed. A simple small plastic shield that diverts the direct light onto the wall. If the later is fixed, as the window being covered is not going to happen because of the following GOOD news... With the membership you can come in for this magic water jet fingers heating pad for free every day. This is a self serve sort of thing where you wave at the desk or what not and then walk into the front lonely room with the partially frosted door and just use it whenever you please. Being self-serve, I was told they have to know when someone is out of there, thus the lack of privacy. Good explanation? Not in my book but that was it. :) BUT free to use every day?.. that was nice to hear. I have had experience with water jet massage beds before as my last job in Michigan had a career relaxation center you could go to and it was a great experience. I'm moving to this area so we will see if joining will make sense when I try more of their masseuses to see if there is the "diamond in the rough" or if I should just trek back out to my old place. Always worth a try to see what works for you. I have had both higher end salons and these type of places and there is little difference beyond product and the person who does it. When looking for a good massage.. go for the masseuse not the location. -------- TLDR: Clean, Gracious, professional, nice. They have facials and eyebrow waxing but I did not try either. Tim was pretty good and knew what he was doing. The water jet massage bed is warm and soothing with the exception that people can look at you from the lobby if they so choose to and a beaming dim light in your eyes. Bring an eye pillow? heh. Unlike it's competition the following pro/con is true: Pro: You can use the Massage Water jet massage bed for free with membership. Con: Your monthly massages have a "use it or lose it" policy. read more

I had a wonderful 1 hour Swedish massage with a lady named Nichole. She was great and I left relaxed and wanting to take a nap, which means a job well done! They are not as professional and glamorous as a private spa, but better than what I have experienced with the MassageEnvy chain. They try to get you to sign up as a member and such, but they asked once and that was it! MassageEnvy always bugged the heck out of me about memberships until I walked out the door. I do not, and probably never will have the extra cash lying around to get 1 massage a month at your discounted rate, so get over it people! I can tell they are new and still working out the kinks, but overall a great experience. Definitely worth giving them a try! read more

Hands down the worst massage I've ever gotten. It was not relaxing or enjoyable at any point. My massage therapist did not pay any attention to my "areas to avoid" that I specified on my form. It was fast, aggressive, too firm, uncomfortable and even painful at times - I was not asked how the pressure was at any point but did ask to go lighter multiple times. I'm more sore now after this massage than I was before walking in the door. 100% do not recommend going here. read more

My boyfriend gifted a massage to me since I've been really stressed with work. I filled out my paperwork online before I got there and thought everything was fine Carla the masseuse took me to the room and asked me some more questions. I told her I had a root canal several weeks ago I was just waiting for the crown to be made and I had been on antibiotics 6 weeks before. After some more talking about the pressure I preferred, she told me my face looked swollen (I came home and ask my son, it's not swollen) then she told me to get undress and she would be back in. After 20 mins or so she came back in and said I don't feel comfortable massaging you since you've been on antibiotics for your root canal. I explained to her that it was over a month ago. She said still I don't feel comfortable. She said the antibiotics needs to be out of your system. I said you don't understand my neck and back is from stress. I know my body and that where my stress stays. I asked what other options I had and she said do you have a note from your dentist? Why would I have even gotten a note saying I could get a massage from my dentist! I was in tears when I left. This was not my first massage at this location, I definitely will NOT be back. Apparently, she's done this before because I've seen other bad reviews with Carla's name. read more

Very unhappy, there were signs up if you are vaccinated you do not have to wear masks. I was fine in waiting area. Then I get into the room and my therapist demands to see my vaccine card, mind you I had severe covid hospitalized and I have been vaccinated. But I have never been asked to show a card anywhere, I was not told when I made the appointment that I needed to have it with me. I don't like being called a liar. I was told I would have to wear a mask through the whole massage, so I left. I stopped at the front desk to complain why was I not informed of this policy at the time of booking and was told it is not the front desks policy to ask if you are vaccinated but therapists can decide on a case by case basis. I insisted then we should be informed when making an appointment and they said they can't tell you, I mean seriously. I will never return to this location terrible service. read more

I have only had a few massages in the past, two of them being prenatal and the other one at an Aveda training school. I bought a Groupon a while back and thought it would be a good treat for myself for Mother's Day. I started off with the HydroLuxe and was able to go right in. I thought it felt like being in the middle of the ocean with jets under you. I thought the pressure was good. I did a swedish massage with Sheila. She was great just the right amount of pressure and she worked my areas like I never felt before. I would definitely go back and ask for her again. The staff was very friendly and the monthly massage package sounds enticing. Since they had another Groupon offer going on I went ahead and bought one for myself and another one as a gift. read more

How to cancel your massage luxe monthly account: 1) Call your home Location where you originally signed up for your account and ask them to e-mail you a cancellation form (you don't need to go in person to cancel your membership!) 2) Call any location to ask them the best time to cancel your membership to get the most out of your billing cycle 3) Set the date to cancel your membership 4) You have 60 days after you sign the membership cancellation to use your left over hours!! I.e you sing on June 13, but you can use your hours 60 days after. Or, you can transfer to someone else for $20. Below is my experience getting a massage during COVID days at Kirkwood Massage Luxe. 1) Make appt over the phone 2) Get a survey via e-mail to fill out right before you go in 3) Call Massage Luxe so they preview your survey and they let you inside. Well what happens if you accidentally (or just a case of big pudgy fingers) filled your survey and unintentionally filled out that "you have a fever in the past week", well they wont let you in and will re-schedule you in the next 14 days even tho it was a emailed survey and you are standing outside their store (with a government ID) and can absolutely tell them you haven't had a fever and it was an accident when filling out the survey. So like a normal manager, you should abide by the company policy and tell the client you can't book then till 14 days but also call the head office to change the blunder.... well thats not what happened. As I stand outside trying to genuinely ask the manager, Lauren Smith, who I can contact to correct this misinformation, she continues to say the same thing over-and-over (like some mockery) that I need to be booked 14 days out. I get what she is saying but the problem is my survey was off (due to either their systems or mine) and I needed her to send me a number I could contact to reset this survey, because It is not true. She then continued to waste her time and my time by telling me she can't do anything except book me out 14 days later. I asked her if this happened to anyone else before (if it is a total mistake there should be a number to call) and she should have helped me resolve and find a number but she choose to say the same thing "we can only book 14 days out" to a unrealted question which makes me think that either 1) she doesn't know what to do in this situation/aka she doesn't know what she is doing 2) she was trying to exercise her ego as a manager and forcing an answer of "we can only book 14 days out" infront of her other co-workers to look cool (but was not the answer). Then I took control and asked her to e-mail me corporate/ head managers phone number. Check my e-mail and it turned out to be the fax number (at this point I cant help but wonder if she did this on purpose) and called back to finally get the right number. Ive been coming to this location for about 2.5 years 2-3/month and tip my Masseuses well and that all adds up for me but im happy to do it because Carla and Jessica have always taken care of me. So when I have an issue like this, it is NOT the masseuses but the management overall on how to deal with a new scenario amongst COVID. A number should be provided to reach out to correct misinformation like this. This scenario was enough for me to cancel my membership because it was just too time consuming and inefficient (Especially to people with hectic lives, who tend to be majority customers here) to already be talking to a manager who can help but doesn't do anything except state the company policy (which btw the front desk gal did too). read more

Very poor customer service and the massages have been mediocre. The massage therapists usually run late and then cut my treatment short - I've never gotten a full hour of service. After my car accident they refused to treat me for 90 days due to their liability policy. I scheduled an appointment today and made sure I could use one of my two massages on my account but when I got to my appointment I wasn't allowed to use a massage I had already PAID FOR without paying for it again. Manager was rude disgusting attitude unprofessional and I will never step another foot after my experience today and I will not recommend this location to my worst enemy. I was so uncomfortable she ruined my day and every second of my massage. Two weeks ago my fiancé who "had" a membership has 7 hours worth of massage on his account. When my fiancé called to schedule us the appointment for a couple massage he asked if I could use one of the hours from his package. Unfortunately they said no he can't gift those hours but however I could still come in and I would just pay $20. We agreed and said that's fine let's book the appointment Saturday February 23 2019 at noon 12:00. 2-23-2019 around 8am he got a called saying he will not be able to come in cause the guy that was suppose to give him the massage didn't come in to work today. We said ok my fiancé will still come in for her app. I was told to come in 10 mins before my app and I did. When I walked in the front desk lady asked for my name and asked for my ID. I gave her my ID she asked if I had any gift card I said no. I signed some papers and I started with my massage with Mark. Hour later mark greeted me and said enjoy the rest of your day. I said thank you and left. 5 mins later I get a call from massage luxe saying I walked out without paying and that she will call the cops for not paying $50. I was in the middle of driving after she mentioned cops and me walking out ? I told her there must be a misunderstanding. She steady kept repeating about calling the cops. I thought my fiancé already paid the $20 as we originally agreed to and for her to tell me about the $50 I was mind blown . She said you came alone. She never knew that this appointment was originally scheduled as a couple massage and that they canceled on my fiancé. She had none of her right information and she kept threatening me to call the cops and with an attitude. I agreed to pay only the $20 I gave her my card number and then she got smart with me saying I was wrong for walking out. No one stopped me no one said anything to me when mark said goodbye I thought that was it. She handled it so poor and I was so pissed and I said I will never ever step another foot there or recommend this location to anyone. She expected me to know her job she threatened me assaulted me verbally. And if I could I would have given you guys 0 stars for your ratings .. unbelievable and so disappointed read more

I was very disappointed with my latest visit for a massage at Massageluxe in Kirkwood, MO. It surprised me, because I have been a customer numerous times in the past. First, my therapist shorted my time. When I mentioned this as I was paying on my way out, the girl at the counter basically ignored my comment and made a noncommittal noise. My therapist also completely skipped my head and face area, which I have found to be standar areas to include in the massage. They offer a complimentary service called Hydroluxe to all customers, but it's only one person at a time. When I requested it, they told me it was already being used by someone else, as if to say I couldn't get it at all. While I am aware they can't help that someone beat me to that room... they could have instead informed me that I was welcome to it, if I was able to wait. read more

I've been coming here for several months and I really enjoy it. Staff is always kind and respectful. I always have the same masseuse, and he does a great job. I like the water before and after the massage. The bathrooms are always clean. Parking is kinda weird. But that's not Massage Luxe's fault. read more

I will start by saying I have never written a bad review or really any review for that matter. But I just feel like I should give people a heads up that are thinking about joining. At first it sounds like a no brainer. You convince yourself that you'll surely get a massage at least once a month. But in actuality if you're a full time working Mom like me, the hours start to stack up. And there is really no way according to their policy to utilize the hours that you have paid for. I have probably 6 hours or so banked, so I thought I could put my membership on hold while I use some of them up - nope. I misunderstood that part, I can put my membership on hold for a small fee but can't use my hours - the hours I have paid for and belong to me - ha. Also, they will not allow anyone else to use them, bc I thought well at least I could let my Mom or friend help me use these up, etc. No again. As for the services, I have had a range of really good massages to really bad. The last time I was in the lady thought i was asleep and just stopped for awhile. ha! Also, don't forgot that on top of your monthly bill, you should plan to tip each time. So what sounds like a $55/mo plan is really a $75 massage. So, clearly I have come to the conclusion that this kind of plan is not for me and i'll be canceling. I think I will treat myself occasionally to a massage at Stonewater and not feel stressed each time i don't make it in and know the hours are stacking up. read more

I bought a gift card here for my wife for Christmas last year, then shortly after she received another gift card from a friend as a gift. When she went in to schedule a massage, they talked her into spending $10 more to get a 3rd massage by signing up for their monthly massage package...which is $55 a month. The person helping her, told her the plan would be cancelled after she used up the amount on the gift cards and the extra $10 she paid...She set this up in August and was supposed to have 3 massages, one in August, one in September, and her last one in October. They told her the plan would automatically cancel in November. She ended up using 2 of the 3 massages and never went back for the 3rd because they weren't very good. 2 Months later I was reviewing my bank statement and noticed that MassageLuxe had been charging my account $55 for 2 months. When I went in to ask for a refund, I was stuck talking to a very inexperienced manager, Chris. He told us that in order to cancel a monthly plan you have to come in and sign a cancellation form...there's no such thing as a plan that terminates on its own...even though that's what had been told to my wife. Chris refused to do anything but credit us back for 1 month...and on top of that told us that because we cancelled the monthly plan we could no longer use the massages we had left....Now MassageLuxe has charged us $55 and refuses to honor the 2 outstanding massages we have there...in what world does that make sense? I would caution everyone to be extremely careful before using any gift cards and signing up for any type of memberships. I'm not sure if this is a case of very poorly trained front desk staff or deceptive practices...but the fact that the manager of this location was not willing to do anything to rectify the situation, speaks volumes on how this massage chain operates. I'm very disappointed and frustrated and hope my experience and this review will save someone else a headache in the future! read more
