Until now, the massage quality and overall experience had been good, and we consistently tipped well, typically $100 per massage therapist. We had a last-minute situation come up and missed our scheduled couples massage. Afterward, Aquarius charged us a total of $720, split into two separate transactions: $300 and $420. I understand that businesses have cancellation policies. However, charging loyal monthly clients $720 after one missed appointment feels excessive, aggressive, and completely out of proportion to the situation. For us, this destroyed the goodwill they had built over months of repeat business. We will not be returning. I am filing complaints with the appropriate agencies in Missouri and I would strongly caution others to be very careful before doing business with Aquarius Health & Wellness. I also have serious concerns about their card-on-file and customer data practices. Since they were able to charge our card after the missed appointment, customers should ask how their payment information is being stored, who has access to it, and whether Aquarius Health & Wellness is properly following applicable data security and payment card compliance standards. Fair warning: All of the people getting massaged are in one open room, so there's no privacy per se, but everyone is clothed so it's sort of similar to a nail salon (but way more peaceful). I opted for the 40-minute foot-only massage, but would upgrade to something more elaborate next time so I could do the hand/head massage addition as well. My only complaint is that you can hear EVERYTHING, including the guy coughing his lungs out in the bathroom and when people walk in the front door, which can interrupt the zen-ness a bit. In May 2021, I had hours remaining on a program with MassageLuxe when I decided to cancel my…read moremembership. I was informed that the only way I could not lose on the hours was to move to a "HydroLuxe" plan. I was not able to cancel my membership without losing the hours I had already paid for. When moving to this plan, it set up a recurring monthly charge. It was $20/month until early 2025, then went up to $30/month. The problem is, I didn't know I was paying for it. No emails, no calls, no reminders of the benefits at any time, and no communication about an increase in the price. I only learned of these continued payments when my credit card expired, and their system called and texted multiple times because they couldn't collect payment. I called to cancel and request a refund and was told I couldn't cancel until my account was up to date. So pay another $30 for a service I didn't know I had and have never used? Absolutely not. This is a scam business practice and absolutely unethical in multiple ways. If someone pays for a membership that allows them to accrue hours, it should be allowed to be paused at anytime with no further accumulation. Hours shouldn't be lost, or should have a time limit to be used. If there is a membership and the system is able to recognize that it's not getting paid, it should also recognize that it's not getting used. Reminders to come in, details about changes or price increases, etc. The only resolution will be a full refund of the funds I unknowingly paid for the last 5 years.
