So when i recently pulled a shoulder muscle that had been really bothering me for weeks i booked and appointment and saw "Ken" the massage was GREAT and he worked his magic on my shoulder and its feeling much better. I've been thinking about writing this review for a while, and I finally decided it was necessary. First, I want to be clear that this review is not about the facility or the therapists. The therapists are wonderful, and I've always had great experiences with my massages. I've been a member at MassageLuXe for a couple of years and have really enjoyed the services. The reason I'm leaving this review is because of the manager at the front desk. I believe her name is Kristine (or Kristy). Unfortunately, every interaction I've had with her has been unpleasant. She always seems like she's in a bad mood, has a rude tone, and comes across as if she doesn't want to be there. Her customer service has been consistently disappointing, and after experiencing it over and over, it's become too much to ignore. What finally convinced me to leave this review was a conversation with a friend who is also a member at this location. She started venting to me about having the exact same experience with the same manager, without me even bringing it up first. That made me realize this isn't just my personal experience. More recently, another customer overheard us talking outside and shared that she felt the same way. That's now three different people who have all had similar experiences. I'm writing this because I hope the owner is aware that this seems to be an ongoing issue. I didn't want to make a formal complaint because I don't want any awkwardness or retaliation during future visits, so I felt a review was the best way to share my experience. It's unfortunate because the therapists and everyone else I've interacted with have been friendly and professional. My friend and I really don't want to cancel our memberships because we genuinely like this location, but we're starting to consider finding another place if nothing changes. After months of neck, and upper back pain (plus headaches that no one else could fix), my neighbor recommended Bryan and it was the best decision I made. Bryan zeroed in on the real problem areas during my first session with him. His neuromuscular approach is unlike any massage I've ever had--and the relief is immediate. I never imagined that I'd enjoy a franchise massage business, but my friend referred me to a specific masseuse (Bryan) and it turned out to be a great experience. I don't trust people easily, and I'm guarded about how I spend my money; Bryan's expertise and communication made it an easy decision to commit to a month to month membership after I tried this place today. Especially so since the front desk staff was extremely patient with me in explaining all aspects of the membership and how it could be used. The space is clean, warm, and quiet. Feeling blissed out and have several stretches to go home with that were recommended to relieve some of the lingering tension in my muscles. My massage therapist for years has always been LIDIA (in Irvine Facility).  She's great with her expertise in full body (deep tissue) massage. I see her once a month.  She initially does brief assessment of my issue/s and knows how to use her specialized techniques to solve the problem and alleviate the pain.  She can identify the areas of tension and focuses to work on those specific areas (my elbows, shoulders, knees, back and/or hip pains). Over-all, I give her 5 stars (your highest score) for her massage knowledge and job performances. I recommended Lidia to my friend and she's very satisfied with her service. Thanks for all the one star reviews! The boss here is horrible and mean. I've been here for many years. The front desk people were very friendly . But when you canceled it, I found myself being kidnapped. When I checked out there, the boss looked at me like a criminal. If you mind, don't sign up for their membership because when you cancel, you will find too many robber clauses, such as asking you to use up dozens of credits within a month and most of your available time can not be scheduled also you can't looking at your phone while doing facials, even if your child is crying on the surveillance camera, otherwise you can't do facials. It really let me feel like being kidnapped. I didn't intend to give this store a bad review because I have been coming here for many years. Front desk is nice and I love lacy who worked here before . I rarely write bad reviews but I want to help bring awareness and protect consumers. Do NOT give them your credit card to use!! And do NOT believe all the positive reviews... it's because they have not had to deal with the cancellation, and BELIEVE the bad ones written, especially read how the owner responds to clients. It just tells you how greedy and mean they are! I should have checked the reviews before coming here. This place just happened to be close to my old home that's why I came in! Yes they may seem nice when you come in (all an act because they're taught to do so!). But their business practice is absolutely deceptive! It's fraudulent that when you go to make a payment, they're allowed to use your credit card number to consistently charge you even after you've asked them to stop! I called them the end of June to cancel my "subscription," but yet in August they were still charging me. I looked through my credit card statement and found out that they had charged me for July, on the 19th, and kept attempting to charge for August. I haven't even been there since June! At the same time I was a victim of identity theft so I had to cancel my card. Thank God for that, otherwise these erroneous payments will keep going through... For no services rendered! I called them again and spoke to Rachel, thinking that they made an innocent mistake but that was not the case! She said she had to have a manager get back to me (to stop taking my payment, and cancel my credit card off their system?!). The manager called me back later and was incredibly rude, and wouldn't even give me her name (maybe she was the owner).. She said that I would have to continue paying, and forfeit the previous month that they had already charged me. Meaning that I couldn't even come in to have services done on their charges on my card. That's incredible!! Here I am trying to be nice and saying I'll come in and pay as I go when my schedule allows it. But instead she was unbelievably hostile and aggressive and even threatened to hang up... and she did! She thought because she has my credit information that she could do whatever she wanted and have this attitude. I immediately called my credit card company to report the dispute and to make sure that they don't fraudulently keep charging me. And even after all that I kept getting text notices in the following days from them saying that they were getting declines from my card. It's unbelievable! This is against the law to keep charging you without your permission, and for no services rendered. But the most important thing is the two face turn around of pure deceit from this company. I've already reported this FRAUD, but I will also contact the Better Business Bureau... which already shows they have seven complaints in just the last three years. I'm sure more people will report them. My advice is: 1) Do NOT do business with this deceitful company, and 2) Do NOT give your credit card info to them for any kind of payment where they can keep the number to do whatever they want! read more

Always great service - receptionists are always so kind. Masseuse's range from okay to great, you definitely have to try a few different ones before finding the one you like. But once you find one you like, it's easy to schedule with that specific masseuse. Place is popular, so it's best to book in advance if you have a specific person and time you want to go. read more

I have been a member here since they opened about 12 years ago! Before that, I belonged to a several other monthly massage clubs, that I will not name here. Usually, I would have to leave after a year or two for some reason. These guys are BY FAR the best!! I have never had such a consistent group of therapists to choose from! The rooms and linens are always super clean, nice smelling, with warmed massage tables when necessary and relaxing music and lighting. My current favorite therapist is Monique, who has a very intuitive touch, and can give me anything from a "nice relaxing Swedish" to an amazing "deep tissue" massage, or anything in between. It is so amazing to me that she can go right to where the "trouble spots" are in my back, when I have them. She is generous with her time and an enjoyable conversationalist...or sometimes reads me that I just want the time to quietly recharge. The communication with the staff in reception here is top notch, and I love that they take care of all the paperwork in advance, so I just walk in the door and head right over to the waiting room. I also really like the new "massage therapist availability" e-mails, as my schedule often requires me to make appointments at the last minute, so I can cross reference the available therapists I like with my schedule. I would highly recommend MassageLuxe to anyone who likes to break away once or twice a month, and let them massage your stress away! read more

I have been a member of MassageLuxe for several months now. I have tried many of the therapists and a few of my favorites. However, there their front desk is super aggressive on tipping especially one young lady on the weekends. This makes the experience not so luxurious for me. I asked one of the therapists why the front desk is like that and she said that its because therapists don't get paid a lot and the company doesn't provide them insurance. Regardless, I hope the front desk knows that luxury starts and ends with them. Once I see that things improve I will increase my rating as the therapists, location and cleanliness are good. read more

I purchased a giftcard here for my parents to use on a massage. What was supposed to be a relaxing service turned into a billing nightmare. After my parents' massage, they had a small balance left on the gift card. The front desk offered them a monthly membership for a small fee (that could use up the rest of the gift card). An extra $80 charge was never discussed in person & was later charged to their personal card. Management keeps bringing up that the terms were in an email. But I think an $80 recurring charge is something that should be mentioned in person?? It was so difficult for my parents to ask for cancellation & a refund. I called Massage Luxe myself to clarify and see what could be done since I purchased the gift card in the first place. In a calm manner I had asked for their membership refund. Front desk had said they'd only refund if my parents' Yelp review was taken down. I agreed at first & we waited for Massage Luxe to email or call us, as I had clarified it with them many times. They were supposed to contact us. Month later, no call, no email, no refund, and no efforts to "make this right". The management should take the last few client reviews into account. They're all negative and about billing! Had I known this was how my parents would be treated, I would have never purchased a gift card here. You may be a proud owner but you need to get your facts straight and not blindly rely on what you're being told by those next to you, otherwise you'll be led the wrong way. As a business owner, shouldn't you have at least gathered all pertinent facts around the issue to base whatever decision you would have made? What's wrong with reaching out to clients? You're calling my wife abusive. We've dealt with businesses for a long time and provided lots of feedback in this community, and for you to post the incomplete details of what happened to save face is not just abusive but blatantly misrepresenting facts. Talking about rudeness or just being civil. Question, have you or any of your representatives even bothered to call or email us back? Our first communication with your business about our request to cancel was before the 5th of SEP. We emailed a cancellation request on 31 AUG 2023 to irvine.ca@massageluxe.com after my wife talked to one of your representatives the same morning for a request to cancel. Last time I checked the email address and phone numbers used all belong to your business and is posted on your website as of the moment of this posting. Our cancellation was legit by your own admission, pointing out the cancellation requirements. Cancellations are really not a bad thing and should not be dragged out if done within the terms. Why is it that those who have posted here about cancellations are the ones to blame and have wronged you and your staff? Haven't you notice a common thread? A credit card authorization ceases after the cancellation and continuing to charge clients after cancellations is just wrong, unprofessional, and downright fraudulent. Why would you cling on to a charge drawn after a cancellation? What makes you feel that you're entitled to do so? It's not an open checking account that you can continue to draw from. I'm not chasing the membership charged but you actually owe us the refund based on us abiding by the agreement. Plain and simple. No need for us to beg or follow up. And by the way, we still haven't gotten a confirmation about our cancellation even though we used three means of communicating our requests: phone calls, email, and finally the online link that was sent to us. And based on what I'm seeing lately on reviews, I'm scared that we'll be charged continuously. But maybe I'll have to go through my credit card company to make sure we avoid that scenario. I have also had massages from other massage therapists and have been pleased with all of them. For me, one with a multitude of medical issues, I have found the quality of the massage increases as they get to know your body and its issues. I have to leave a review for my massage therapist, Ricardo. When booking my massage online, I chose "no preference" for my massage therapist, and I am so incredibly lucky to have been assigned to Ricardo. After a very busy and stressful couple weeks, my body was feeling it, and my simple request for some tension. Relief in my shoulders, turned into one of the best massages I can recall having. I didn't have to tell Ricardo what was sore, he was extremely intuitive. In addition, I've had a couple back surgeries, and have a lot of metal hardware in my back, so I am used to having low back pain as well. Imagine my surprise when in addition to making my shoulders feel weightless he used pressure point techniques to make my entire back relax.
