I've been coming to this location for about a year now as my go-to spot for a nice massage. I'm a part of their membership, so I pay a flat monthly fee which includes one massage for free, and additional massages for a reduced rate. Typically I go once or twice a month. This month was pretty run of the mill for my experience here, absolutely wonderful. I typically arrive 5-10 minutes early, and the person working the front desk greets me by name. They show me to their comfortable waiting nook with nice plush chairs. The bathroom is right down the hall if needed. Right on time, my massage therapist comes out, and walks me back to the treatment rooms, which have always been comfortable, clean, and well-maintained. After a quick chat, I'm left to undress and then I get an hour of pure relaxation. I've seen a handful of therapists at this location, and while they each have different skills, I've never been disappointed. When it's time to go, the therapists always offer a glass of water to stay hydrated, and walk me to the front of the building to see me off. read more

I purchased a gift certificate for my mother for Mother's Day and she booked her appt and went in the following Friday. Her service was fully covered by the goft certificate and she left cash tips. But, she had to leave a credit card to reserve the booking wjen she initially made the appt.Today (Tuesday), she learned that she has an $80 charge from the company. She called them to find out what the charge was and they are telling her they can't do anything because their records don't show a charge. This is disgusting, fraudulent behavior. I was excited to purchase a membership because she'd had such a great experience, but we will never spend money at this location or with this company again. read more

I arrived on time for my appointment and had to wait over 20 minutes for my masseuse to bring me back! I have no issue with the massage, that was wonderful! There is a reason why the reviews for this Springfield location are SO POOR and negative! Let me start off by saying the only reason why I even wanted to come here was because I was gifted a gift card. I think Hand & Stone and Joseph Anthony are 1000 times better than this astrocity poorly ran fake spa. I scheduled my appointment the first time and was never informed of a cancellation policy. I had to cancel because I didn't have anyone to watch my child and was told I would be charged if they couldn't fill the spot with another client. After stating this was never told to me she said "she'll let it slide this time." Oh gee thanks. The second time I tried re schedule, it got cancelled 4 hours before my massage because the therapist apparently had a family emergency. The third time I scheduled I asked if I had to wear a mask for my service. I was told "no, not if you're vaccinated." Well great! Looks like I don't have to wear one then. I walk in, get taken to the tranquility room and Nicholas comes out. He says "are you Amanda?" And I replied yes. He then says "first and foremost before we get started you need a mask when you're in my room." And I told him I was NEVER told that specific therapists had this policy, I was only told if I am vaccinated I don't need a mask. I tried to open the door to leave to go to the front desk and lobby area and he BLOCKED ME IN. I again tried to open the door and couldn't. I told him "YOU NEED TO MOVE." I almost reached in my purse for my pepper spray in case things got escalated I was very fearful in that instance. I am a small petite woman being locked in the room with the door blocked. I get to the front desk and am told "therapist are allowed to make their own policy for this." WELL WHY WASNT I NOTIFIED? Danielle, Rebecca, and their staff especially Nicholas are horrible and this business should not be running. Massage Envy in Springfield is lucky this situation did not escalate. When I first walked in for my appointment I was waiting for about 10 minutes for someone to help me/check me in. During the massage, the lady was very friendly and nice, but she did not focus on what I wanted. I went in for a prenatal massage. I added a foot enhancement. The massage is supposed to be 50 minutes because 10 minutes to consult & get dressed. Plus 10 minute for the foot enhancement. BUT she did my foot enhancement scrub within my 50 minutes and it was all but FIVE minutes long. I told her to focus on my head back and feet. She did my legs and arms the whole time and a little bit of my back. Then at the very last 2 minutes she did my head... Also did not clean her hands off so my hair was full of the oils and lotion she had been using. Worst massage ever. Then when I was cashing out, it was like a shift change and the new front desk girl was so rude. She had a big attitude and I was waiting for my receipt and she had told me it was taking a long time to load. So then she said okay bye. I said okay I guess I won't get a receipt. DO NOT get a membership to this location!!! PLEASE!!! They take your money every month, then it's near impossible to get an appointment (at least a month out for the good therapists), and then they cancel on you DAY of leaving you with another month wait. They have canceled on my husband 3 times in 6 weeks, day of! I'm sorry i understand people get sick but 3 times in six weeks, all day of, twice the same therapist, all on Mondays. Sounds like people are extending their weekend and not actually sick to me. We canceled our membership and have 30 days to use our services which is impossible because of what I said above. Of course after they canceled for the 3rd time they offered to extend our services another 30 days but at this point my husband will not even consider putting another day on hold to just be canceled on two hours before his appointment. Don't even try and get your money back either! Manager practically laughed at me when i asked that. "Contract" of course! I would have been better off throwing a couple hundred dollars in the trash. I came here to treat myself to a birthday massage. I had a wonderful experience. I was greeted promptly when I came in and was taken at the time of my appointment, not later like other spas. My massage therapist was Lisa & she did an awesome job. She was very knowledgable & made sure the pressure was good throughout my 50 minute massage. The only thing I didn't like was when I was finished & getting ready to pay, they are quite pushy for you to sign up for a membership. Other then that, my overall experience was great! I had scheduled an appointment less than 24 hours in advance. In the morning, my 2 year old woke up very ill and I had to take him to the doctor. I called to reschedule my appointment and explained my situation to the manager and she told me she did not care and was charging me half for the appointment due to a 24 hour cancellation notice policy. I explained that I didn't have 24 hours notice because I booked the appointment less than 24 hours in advance. She told me it was my problem and told me that if I had no one to watch my children I could bring him in. I explained again that my child was very sick and she said she didn't care. Her lack of empathy was one thing but the fact that she was willing to subject her employee to a sickness as well as others is distasteful and completely unprofessional. It seem to me the only thing she cared about money and not her staff and individuals safety. If I could give this place a 0 I would. I recommend never stepping foot into a place like this. read more

I received 2 automatic replies with the exact same response, a third with a persons name that gave the same response except saying I will be given prioritize attention, however, still no one has called or email to address the problem. Not only were they able to squeeze my self and my fiancé in within 2 to 3 days but they were incredibly courteous about services at their location. Cheyenne and Adrian were incredibly helpful when asking about the back and shoulder facial and were incredibly generous for asking about their services. This place should be closed. The manager is basically non-exsistent. I honestly don't think they have one because every time I ask to speak to her when I am there or call she is out and supposedly at the other location. She never returns a phone call. I have been a member for many years that recently cancelled my membership because of the terrible customer service. For the first several years of my membership I could never get an appointment at the Springfield location which is close to me. I would always get an appointment at the Newtown Square location which I really like. To my disappointment they closed that location so now I was forced to go to Springfield. Every time I went my service was shorter and shorter. I would wait for 5 to 10 minutes after my arrival and then wait another 5-7 mins after being placed in a room. Each time I would tell the therapist or esthetician I would be undressed quickly so they could just stand outside for a minute. Every time they would take another 5 minutes or more to return to the room. Then once they return, they would have to take the product out of the cabinet which should have been done before I came in the room. Many times the bed warmer wasn't on or the therapist would have cold hands and made no effort to warm them before starting the massage, I felt like they would just grab folks off the street and give them jobs as massage therapist because the good ones would never stay. The final straw which lead to me canceling my membership is when I gifted my mother a facial and she came home complaining at how unpleasant the experience was. When she woke up the next day her face was swollen and looked as though she suffered a chemical burn. I immediately called to speak to the manager or the esthetician and neither returned the call. I was just instructed after my third call to take my mom to the ER if it was that bad. I wanted to speak to the person who did the facial and the manager about what product was used on my mother which would be information I would need even if I had taken her to the ER. I was shocked at the lack of concern and how difficult it was to get simple information. After cancelling my membership I was told I had to use all unused services in 30 days. I didn't understand having such a short time period for using services I had already paid for with a membership I had for more than 5 years. Sine I had 4 unused services they extended my time period by 2 weeks. I scheduled a 90 minute facial first which was cancelled because the esthetician called out sick and it took another week for that same therapist to be available. Then I scheduled my final service a 90 minute massage and the same thing happened only this time no one called to tell me my appointment was canceled. I found out when I arrived that the therapist called out from the front desk girl who was the only one there and outside smoking when I arrived. She admitted to forgetting to call me. I could go on and on but I think anyone who reads this gets the point. Don't waste your money or your time and go to a REAL SPA!!!! read more

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! The only reason I'm giving 1 star is because I can't give zero. Waited all week for 2 two hour sessions for me and my fiancé. I get a call a hour before arrival stating that 1 part of the session was canceled. Upon asking further questions I was abruptly hung up on. I even attempted to buy 2 memberships during the week before even trying their services, only to be turned off by their sales reps or managers. If only I had read these reviews prior to calling I would have saved myself a disappointing experience, and some valuable time. Really impressed with this place. I showed up almost an hour late and they did everything to accommodate me. Really kind and helpful staff. The massage therapist, Brandi, was incredible. Best massage I've ever had. She gave me the full time and attention even though I was so late. Extremely skillful massage. I signed up for six months of massages at a low rate. Pretty disappointed with my massage. Therapist was super nice and greeted me with a smile but she didn't listen to what I wanted. I asked for back and neck with just a little time spent on whole body. I ended up getting roughly 10 mins of back work. She didn't even touch my lower back. I have been a member of massage envy and tried this particular location and was not satisfied or impressed. The staff in the front welcomed me which was great but the waiting area was brightly lit and other staff members were yelling back and forth in the hallway. I was 10 min in before my appointment time. The massage therapist came out 15 min after my initial 10 min and said she forgot about me. And they docked the time that they forgot about me on my massage. I unfortunately won't be coming back to this location and will stick to the Newtown Square location, even if it's 15 min away from me I continue to go there because of this poor experience read more

Today was my first massage at a Massage Envy. I had been given a gift certificate a couple of years ago and frankly I had been dreading using it. I love my masseur, Andre. I have been going to see him for almost year now, coming up this summer, and together we have improved my severe, chronic back pain. He's simply the best! He asks questions about my needs at the start of every visit and always fulfills them. The establishment itself is a chain, and pretty middle-of-the-road. It's much less haughty than Hand and Stone feels to me, and the employees are always warm-- which I have NOT found at other chains. They've never been late on an appointment for me and are always willing to do any add ons I want on a whim! I hopped places for a long time before I found this particular group, where I have a membership and pay $60 a month for a top notch massage from a talented and super friendly guy. If he leaves this place, I will follow him if I can (he just works the best for me) but I saw others before him at this business and ALL of them were attentive and talented. It's a great hidden gem! Update: Andre has now LEFT this location and I had a new massage with a woman named Dawn who was AWESOME and took care of me fully to suit my problems. She handled way more on a first visit than I even hoped for and I absolutely rebooked to see her again. I had a very good massage here, which pleasantly surprised me because I know it's a huge chain and such chains are often set up for $ first, service second. It's not the closest location to me, but I read some poor reviews for that one, and the one with the best reviews is a bit far away and always booked up. The prices are a bit less than many salons and spas, so if you're lucky to get a good massage therapist you are getting a great deal. My only complaint, and it did not surprise me, is a bit of the hard sell for their pre-paid monthly massage plan. That kind of thing does not work for me - I don't like being pushed to made a decision "today", and cannot plan my life so rigidly to know I'll want one massage every month. Sometimes I may want more, sometimes less. Ask me once and then leave it. If I change my mind, I know what to do. read more

My mother and I went here to get facials and a massage and it was totally worth the money. The staff was very friendly and the place is clean. For my facial, I was treated by Chandler. It was an eye opening experience. I had no idea how little I was doing for my skin before I saw her. She helped me a lot, not to mention the facial I got was super relaxing. I got free samples of Dr. Murad and although it is pricey, it works. I can't thank her enough. I'll be looking for more affordable alternatives but more I'm conscious of skin care regimens and what I put on my face. My massage was very relaxing and much needed. My mother enjoyed her pampering as well. It isn't super posh but they do a great job. I definitely recommend. read more

Disappointed with my experience at this salon. poor customer service began the moment I walked in the door. Two employees eating chicken nuggets to the left of the counter blocking the door to go to the back. One person on the phone and the other phone ringing. Another employee came from an office, ignoring me, wiggled through chicken nugget people and answered the phone. The phone call was someone asking about their resume. This continued for 10 minutes while I stood there waiting as my appointment time came and went. I did not get into the back until 5:20p (20 minutes past my appointment time), I was not asked if I want water (Other massage envy salons offer). The massage was just okay. The therapist never touched my arms or hands, even after discussing my preferences. The massage was supposed to be 1.5 hours but was almost an hour. The room had dust bunnies coming out of the vent, quite unappealing. I asked for a manager and was told I would receive a call. I received a call and spoke with a manager who stated she would speak to the therapist and get back to me. I waited a week for the call and then called back and left several messages for over a week, including a request to have the owner call me. I'm still waiting. This is NOT a location I would go to again. read more

I was not at all happy with my service. I scheduled a one hour massage about 3 weeks prior. The day before received a phone that there were 2 people with my name and was verifying it was me. No problem honest mistake. While on the the phone I asked if my therapist does deep tissue. She said no. Then called me back n yes we can do that no problem. I was thrilled. Walked in was greeted kindly at the desk. They walked me back into the transition room. Room started off comfortably then was asked to fill out more paperwork. As the front desk girl came back to go over my paperwork which I thought was very strange since she wasn't my therapist, another guest walked in she kept asking me personal questions and then another walked in. It was so uncomfortable and I was furious I was asked in front of other guests. Then my therapist Bethany came to get me. She was so cold and not welcoming at all. We got into the room and was acting as if she was annoyed I was there. Giving me attitude. I truly wish I walked out. I explained that I sprained my ankle the day before but wanted to get my massage but I was having surgery the next week. I said very clearly to say away from it. She was annoyed. And said please focus on my lower back. And said my shoulders were soar but even stressed to the front desk girl to focus on my lower back. As the massage started it was horrible so rushed and not relaxing at all. She was not gentle at all with my ankle and actually squeezed it hard I nearly jumped and said please say away from my foot. Never once did she say sorry. She finished and said left the room. Looking at the clock I just realized I had a 45 minute massage! I did talk to the manager that was on shift and she was so sweet and nice and truly felt bad but there is nothing they can do. Damage was done and I will never return. I honestly wish I could give this location zero stars. I just left Massage Envy with 2 of my friends. I flew into town from Florida to visit my friend that is 7 months pregnant. I wanted to treat her to a prenatal massage and was excited when I learned they offered them. The day prior I booked 3 massages. The individual that helped me book these appointments was wonderful and patient. She informed me to have my 2 friends come 10 minutes early as we did not know if they had ever been so they needed to fill out paperwork. I on the other hand was in the system so I was fine. My 2 friends appointments were scheduled for 5pm and mine for 5:30pm. We arrived at the location at 4:54pm and saw a little girl behind the customer service desk that ran into an office when we made it to the desk. The front desk attendant Lorraine was on the phone leaving a VM which we found out later was to my friend making sure she was coming to the 5pm appt. We let her know that we were here and she was the most disrespectful and unprofessional individual, stating we should have been to the appointment 15 minutes earlier. After several minutes of going back and forth, as I am trying to figure out how we can make it work and i asked her if my pregnant friend could take my 5:30 pm appointment since I did not need to fill out paperwork, she exclaimed that we all needed to fill out paperwork. I informed her what the lady shared with me the day prior and she said that I was misinformed and that she only can go by the appointments as she disrespectfully lifted up her IPAD to say that "i have to go by this." As all of this time past, my friends could of had their paperwork filled out in plenty of time to get to their massages. My friends explained as well that they had been to Massage Envy in the past and they should be in the system as well. She said that systems don't transfer information between massage envy's. Which confused me, as the lady prior had all of my information in the system just from my phone number. She also had personal information like credit card. She never once asked my friends to look them up to see if they had paperwork already on file. She just kept saying you all have to fill out paperwork! Again if she had provided the paperwork as soon as we checked in, this would have been filled out and they would have had plenty of time! At this time, with all of her neck rolls, eye rolls and tone, I decided that this space was toxic for my pregnant friend and this was not going to be a relaxing experience. We asked to speak to her manager. She went to go get the manager, Paige's phone number from an office, which her child was in and she slammed the door. Then came out and said she could not provide the number but Paige would be in on Tuesday. She said that her name was Lorraine. I would never recommend an establishment that condones this type of behavior. This should be stress free, relaxing and friendly as people are here to get massages and not to be disrespected and talked to very nasty. Massage Envy should look into this as I am seeing that other reviews are stating horrible customer service by the front desk, which is unacceptable. The front desk sets the tone for the massage experience. What a disappointing experience and my poor friend did not get her prenatal massage. I will never go back nor get a membership from any establishment that allows people to be treated this way! read more

WOW! I have a been a ME member for some time now and with my busy schedule was unable to reap the monthly benefit so I canceled. I believed I had until August to use my remaining sessions and called to see my balance and book a massage or 3. The person I was on the phone could not give me any information. She kept saying "unfortunately your sessions have expired." I kept asking when. She placed me on hold three times and the last time stated that she was going to speak with the manager. During my hold the phone disconnected (or so I thought). I called back and was immediately hung up on (I heard the phone get picked up and placed back on the receiver). I called back and was immediately placed back on hold (no one greeted me or anything). I called back and after 2 more calls was routed to the managers voicemail where I left a detailed message. What's so ironic is that I was going to request to have my membership reinstated with this location since it is closer to my day job but NOT NOW! I have never been so disrespected in my entire life.
