Chain anything is never my favorite way to go when it comes to restaurants, hair salons, etc but quality is usually consistent, so I decided to make my first appointment at Massage Envy back in December... I loved it then, and I love it now! Actually became a member after my first visit! (I don't use it enough to be worth it, but if you go more often than just once a month, it def would be for you!) I've had both facials (Hunter rocks!) and massages (Ashley & Steve= amazing for deep tissue.. Shelby rules too!) and they've been great.. Relaxing, therapeutic, clinical... I've only had 1 therapist (Aki) that I would never see again..More because he didn't do anything that I asked, though as far as Thai massage goes, if that's your jam, he knows what he's doing. My schedule really only allows for same day appointments, and usually it's not a problem.. Front desk staff is helpful, never pushy with products/upgrades, but they do let you know about perks of pre-booking, enhancements, etc. While its not really in my benefit to renew my membership another year, I will for SURE keep coming back for my massages! read more

Holly as a therapist is wonderful. I just wish she didn't work here. It's well worth it to pay a little more to avoid the franchise/chain experience here. So while Holly is phenomenal, my membership/billing experience started off poorly when I was overcharged for my initial massage (my first one at ME, which was a gift that included the tip). The person working the checkout system then told me the only way I could get the rate I was supposed to receive would be by purchasing a package. So I did, however once I did the math post-massage brain fog realized I was still overcharged by $20 not including tip. The next time I was in for my scheduled massage, I brought up the overcharge and they offered to comp my next two enhancements and that they would make sure it was noted on my account (which it wasn't so I had to rehash the situation each following appointment). But I decided to continue my membership on a month-to-month basis at that point because I was so happy with Holly as a therapist. However that is/was the end of the enjoyment. It is nearly impossible to schedule an appointment for anything other than weekday slots between 9am and 5pm. The customer service rep I spoke with could offer little to no assistance, which made the decision to cancel my month-to-month membership really easy. However the hoops you have you need to jump through to get the cancellation accomplished are ridiculous. You can only cancel your membership by speaking to a manager. But the rep can't tell you when an actual manager will be there. So have fun with that crapshoot of getting a hold of them. read more

My husband bought me a gift certificate for our anniversary, went for my first one and was a waist of time, no real pressure and was very under enthused by my experience. The facility is really nice so I will give them that. Had my second one scheduled for today and get a call right before I am about to leave my house that my massage was cancelled due to masseuse not able to make it in to work. And of course nobody else was available, the girl who called was nice and offered me an aroma therapy or some form of add on, why would that be compensation when that would be an add on to begin with, compensate what was originally scheduled for, not necessarily the entire appointment but something. So I will take my business elsewhere. Being in the service industry myself I do my absolute best to accommodate the client regardless of my taking the hit. read more

We have been going to this location since it opened. In that time, it has gotten progressively worse and worse. The seemingly endless turnover of staff combined with the regular scheduling mistakes have only increased in occurrence. In addition, the lighting in the rooms (especially couples room) frequently flickers and has a strobe effect during sessions and incredibly irritating and, despite bringing it up multiple times, has not been fixed. They cannot get our billing correct with our membership despite multiple submissions of forms and requests. Today was just the last straw where they COMPLETELY messed up our reservation and the only resolve we were offered are hollow apologies and offers for free "enhancements" to our next session--which do not interest us. This is where I got my first real massage. I have seen 4 different people. My first time I saw someone who gave me the wrong card so I never got her name (lol) I normally see Ashley and Kelly, who are absolutely amazing. I saw Holly one time who was sweet and very very quiet but a little too gentle for my taste. I prefer a medium pressure. Ashley is great. I trust her because her schedule is so full, she has such a high demand that Just reinforces how amazing she is. Ashley has great stories, conversation and amazing massage hands. I love my massages with Ashley because she uses hot towels which feel so good. She also does a great job on my feet whenever I decide to get the foot scrub add on. She remembers details about me and my personal life so I always have a nice time with her. I see Kelly every other month on the months I don't see Ashley. Kelly gives a soothing, quiet massage. She did a lot of stretching techniques on me which I really enjoyed, as well as the chopping (not sure the name) technique. I feel like she gets a lot of knots out too. I love alternating between Kelly and Ashley because they're both just as fantastic but in different ways read more

Don't waste your time here !!! The customer service here is non existent.. I purchased several gift cards over the holidays and had additional promo cards to use also that were good til March. My husband was in and out of the hospital for 6 weeks and had 3rd degree burns and was not able to get a message. I called 4 times and left messages for a manger to call me, I spoke to the same person 2 times and I called her out on it the second time I spoke to her and she replies yes I remember talking to you..... Well obviously she didn't give the message to the manager.. 2 weeks go by and I'm still calling and finally get to speak to a manager and she tells me there nothing they can do with the promo card after they expire. I even said to the manager I would proof of my husband being in the hospital - how sad .. I purchased a monthly account, because I go in every 2 weeks and the monthly package was very cost effective. I like a massage with more pressure, so I tried out a different therapist each time until I found a couple that I really liked. Kelly and Racquel are both perfect for me, and I always leave with the knots gone. Between the two of them I can always find an appointment that fits my schedule. I would definitely suggest trying out a couple of therapists to see what you're more comfortable with. read more

For the most part it was a good experience but it all depends on which therapist you have. I wanted a deeper massage as I have a ton of knots in my back from stress, so I got paired up with the right "choice." The massage therapist was way too gentle and spent so much time walking around the room fixing the sheets and getting more lotion, barely giving the massage. Almost $143 dollars later I still have knots and my back doesn't feel much better. I enjoy the atmosphere and everyone is very friendly. It just doesn't seem like all the therapists are that great considering it is a chain. It's not worth it if you don't have a membership - WAY too pricey. Worst experience ever at the Johnsburg location! I have 30 massages on my account, not once have they called to see what's was going on, or if I was coming in. They just kept charging me, I honestly forgot I had my account. I wanted to cancel my membership, so I called to see if they could put them on a gift card so I don't lose out on the 2000$ worth of massages, the manager who is impossible to get ahold of, she is refusing to give me a gift card with the money I PAID FOR! She said u can still use your massages or find people to gift them too. So know I guess I'm employee now here! So if anybody is looking for discount on a hour massage or facial hit me up!! My favor part about the manager is when I asked her what would u do if you were in my shoes, and I quote she said, I would have never let my account get that bad!! Really? I've worked in retail my whole life, it's always been the customer is always right! Make it right u got a customer for life!! I've spent over 3000$ at this place, I promise I will never ever use massage envy ever again!!! First of all I realize that businesses are reacting to the virus I am not allowed to post on here, I get that, ok..... Having said that, this place has NO problem whatsoever taking money out of my account every single month and provides no facials... STILL. And they do not help me by recommending anywhere else I could go or what I can do. The thing is am racking up services that I cannot use, I do not like massages and joined for the facials. The masseuse felt super rushed because they started late and the compensation wasn't a discount on my massage, but an extra half hour the next time I go in. I booked my first appointment at Massage Envy. I walked in the door not knowing what to expect as I have been to quite a few massage places. I dont go often but when I do I normally walk out feeling pretty relaxed. I got a gift card from a dear friend of mine and in return I got her one for her bday...you know so we can make a day of this together. Unfortunately, as it happens we could never get our days to line up so we went seperately. She visited the location in Hoffman Estates and me to Johnsburg only 10 days apart. I was greeted very warmly by a lady behind the desk in which I later find out she is new, but was very nice either way. She hissed at the lady that was talking in the office to say there was someone here as she was on the phone. Again, it happens, no biggie. I was asked to fill out some paperwork and later was greeted by the woman that I handed it back to. Everything I wrote on the paper she asked me again, which I was a little annoyed with as its written on the paper, why did I fill it out than? She explained very clearly that my hour long massge would only be 50 minutes as they give you 5 minutes to undress and dress. Are you kidding me?? So knowing that time is of the essense I look at my watch waiting for Shelby to come get me and she greets me at 2:03. We go into the room, she than asks me what am I there for. Which I just put on the paper, told the other lady and now saying it again, does this place not communicate. So I said an hour long massage. She giggles a little but tries to not let me see, which just sparked my fire as I look up at the clock and see its 2:04 now. So I tell her again, she says okay and leaves the room. Its now 2:05 when she closes the door. I hurry up climb into the bed and she comes back 5 minutes later. I have to say she was good, but a little rough with the nuckles, but I did ask for medium and never once said it was a little painful. She was EXCELLENT otherwise. I am not a complainer when it comes to the service, she did what I had expected based on what was explained to me. However, when she said she was done I immediately looked at the clock and it was 2:55. I know this is so petty but I was there 20 minutes before my appointment, if they are so stringent on their times why am I not getting that extra 5 minutes when it was not my fault that we didnt start on time? Not only that but I paid for what they said was an hour, only to later find out it was 50 minutes to get 45. OK, sorry for that, it was not even the real issue here. I have to say I gave a $20 tip so I was not that unhappy with the massage. However, I go to check out with said gift card as mentioned above only to be told there is only $.01 on it!! Are you kidding me? The lady looks flustered and I must say immediately asked several questions. Never once forcing the blame on me. At one time she did say I may have to pay and I think saw from my expression that was not going to happen. She was great in the aspect of calling the Hoffman Estates location to try and resolve the issue as they somehow used my gift card for my friends massage and was trying to say they didnt. Finally the lady called her manager and they were able to resolve it by finding the one I purchased for my friend and using that one for me. I have to say what an accounting nightmare if you purchase a gift card for a friend. Sounds like anyone can use it if they say they are this other person, without even having the card! Are you kidding me!? Kudos to Johnsburg for taking care of it for me, I was very happy. I am not happy with Hoffman Estates being so unhelpful though! If I could tag them somehow I would. I would have given 4 stars if they were not such pains in the you know what. Needless to say I was immediately stressed when I left so I guess that relaxing massage was a waste at the end. We had a very bad customer service experience at this location. I had a Massage Envy membership for almost 2 years. I enjoyed the service so much I had referred friends that signed up at other locations and my husband signed up at the Johnsburg location with me. I unfortunately had to cancel my service about 6 months ago due to finances. My husband continued his contract and unfortunately needed to cancel as well. We could not remember when he signed a contract, so he called the location and asked when he could cancel. We knew we were coming up on his one year. When he called the location at the end of July, they said he may fill out the form when he comes in for his massage on August 9th and it will be cancelled before our payment would be withdrawn on August 23rd. We ended up in the area a few days later, so he went inside the location to fill out the cancellation form at the beginning of August. He confirmed again with the front desk that he did not owe anything further and no further payments would be withdrawn. They confirmed again, yes. When he went in for his massage on August 9th, before leaving his massage he confirmed a 3rd time that his contract was over and cancelled. They confirmed. Last night on 8/10 we received a phone call from the manager there stating our contract was not over for an additional one month. My husband explained to her what 3 other employees had told him. She said she is sorry but there will be another payment this month and then he may cancel next month. He explained we are going through financial hardship and we took the word of three other employees that we did not need to make this payment for this month and have been counting on this knowledge for weeks. She said the payment would still come out. After my husband spoke with her, I called the location back and said I was a member there myself and I understand there is a contract but three employees told us we would not pay anything further and this word needs to be honored. I have given 5 Star reviews on Facebook and referred multiple co-workers to Massage Envy and I do not want to have a bad ending with this location as we hope to return as soon as we are able. She was very curt and cut me off responding "That's fine then, we will give you an immediate cancellation, thank you" and hung up on me. I am very sorry I received such bad management experience at this location as we had both hoped to come back and loved all of the therapists there. But her attitude is no way to conduct good business. I always see a high front desk turn over there and they struggle with even booking a simple massage and I wait quite a long while patiently. They need to fully train their employees and focus on this with their turn over. They should know how to read a contract. read more

After filling out the form above I did receive a call from the manager. She did offer me a $10 upgrade for all the inconvenience but that's all she could do. I asked to talk to someone above her or the owners to which they were "unavailable" (if you read other posts this always happens no one is ever available) she couldn't refund me the $50 charge for the stone massage which she did admit changed over the last few weeks. Nor did she want to credit me a massage as the entire time I was upset over this matter. I asked her if she understood that she is loosing a customer because of poor customer service and she didn't seem to care. I wish the owners knew what a horrible place this was and what poor management they have. Front desk screws up your massage booking and has no respect for customers. Get over charged and just get a "sorry" response. For being a member of massage envy you would think they would treat you better for your business... nope go to grays lake if you want great service.
