Crystal was my therapist, and she is amazing! My only complaint is that a couple times prior to my first visit I have tried to schedule my apt thru their online scheduler. I never heard from them until I called. I also sent an inquiry email about their referral program and never heard back. I plan on having a conversation with them about this when I go back. I don't think they should have the features on the web if they are not going to use them. They could be losing business they are not aware of. This was my second massage envy experience and I'll say it was better than the first! Mikey was skilled and attended to my pain areas very well!! I would definitely recommend him for a firm massage. The "sales pitch" was much shorter and less pushy than my last visit. I know there is an upsell for aromatherapy but I would say that at least some minimal lavender diffusing in the rooms would be helpful ambience. Miley wins the prize here though! read more

On Fathers Day I received a certificate for a massage from my kids. I was really looking forward to the massage all weekend. Kie - the assistant manager was so very nice. She told me that Mario normally does deep massage but was needing to rest due to the amount of strain on his body lately. She said he still can do a medium to firm massage. I was totally cool with that and just wanted to relax. Although once in the room Mario stated he could only do soft massages. I was still ok with that. After I went into the room with Mario, he asked me where my pain point was. I pointed to my sciatic section of my lower back. He showed me a black line in the chart and said Massage Envy doesn't allow us to go beyond this point - pointing to an area slightly above the sciatic. Again I was ok and just looking to relax. After starting the back massage, Mario was stopping roughly 5 inches above my sciatic, almost to my middle back. I asked if he could go a little lower. He stated "Just Like they do at (my place of employment" we have rules, if you ask again I am going to end the massage." I only asked the question once but was met with a semi-aggressive tone. I then stopped the massage. I was pretty freaked out that Mario knew my place of employment because I never shared it with him. He had to actually research me to know what I did for a living. Pretty weird. This was by far the worst customer service experience I have had. Not just while getting a massage but the worst service ever, period. Kie- you need to employ people who love what they do. Who cares for their customers. I pride myself on caring for others. It is obvious based on the small interactions with Mario, he doesn't enjoy what he is doing. Hire some one who cares for his clients. I suggest you promote Mario to "former" employee. read more

If you are in need of a no frills massage, ME on Harbison is a good choice. The therapists are extremely friendly, there is plenty of free parking (located in a shopping complex), and they have one couples room. At the end of the massage, you get a heavy sales pitch to sign up for an annual membership. Kind of ruins the whole experience and reintroduces stress before you even walk out the door. Doubly distasteful are the numerous signs indicating the expected tip. Overall, this place is good for what it is. I personally will go elsewhere for my massages from now on. read more

This review is aimed at two specific people that are part of the Harbison Massage Envy team. MJ, a massage therapist, and Alex, the owner. Before I continue, I should state for fairness that I am a massage therapist myself, I have been for over twenty years, BUT I have never worked at Massage Envy. I visited MJ for acute low back pain. Being familiar with many local massage therapists, and actually having been an instructor of hers, I knew that she would have the expertise I required for my specific situation. I had injured my low back earlier in the week, and as a result, could not bend forward or stand from sitting without a lot of pain. In short, MAD PROPS to MJ for helping a fellow therapist out. Her treatment was nothing like what you might expect from a typical therapist. She didn't just poke at it where it hurt. My treatment included a lot of positioning in strange manners, and treatment of muscles far from the pain. All of which directly impacted the area I was hurting in. By the end of the treatment, days of acute nasty pain was gone. GONE! I cannot recommend her more. If you have a pain that you feel can be resolved by massage techniques, or some sort of physical condition, MJ is amazingly skilled. I want you to know this because too many times have I spent my money on unknown therapists, and left the treatment disappointed and with less cash. If you are hoping to avoid that annoying situation, visit MJ. If you are looking for help from back pain, she is a brilliant and safe bet. Regarding Alex, having been in the local massage community for some time, I have had several chances to have great conversations with him. I have also heard many stories from his employees. The man is what I would call a mensch. Maybe even Ubermensch. That means, an amazing guy. When you meet him, you see a glowing kind face. Too often this is a mask that business owners wear. Not for Alex. Alex is genuinely kind, curious, involved, and believes in making the world a better place. As you may see from other posts of mine, that is important to me. I like it when an owner of a business gives back to the community. He does this with the community, and with his employees as well. Used a gift card and had to pay the $80 price for a 1 hour massage, which is actually fairly high especially considering the caliber of therapists places like this tend to employ. You should expect people right out of massage school. I used to go to one in Atlanta that had better therapists, but I think most of the good massage therapists tend to avoid employment at a place like this because they probably just don't get paid enough. The front staff was excellent. The customer service in general was excellent. I was just really unhappy with the quality of the massage for the price. I would expect a more organized approach. It wasn't connected or smooth, and the therapist didn't even get to my neck and shoulders. How do you get a massage without making it to the neck and shoulders? There are places for HALF this price that give a much, much better massage. Massage Envy can often be Massage School. I'd take my money somewhere else especially directly to a therapist. No one would return my call, I had to call them after the 3 attempts to make an appointment..the receptionist said "I looked over ur appt n didn't call u cuz those appt was full" she was rude not friendly n so very unprofessional!!!! Last week, I booked a 60 minute customized facial session at Massage Envy Last. My 60-minute session actually lasted 45 minutes. I went back today for a hot stone massage 90-minute session, which was in reality 70 minutes. After my experience with the facial, I timed today's session. After the massage, I inquired why the session was 20 minutes short, the massage therapist said that it was because I was on my phone. I was not talking or texting on my phone, I was timing the session. When she came into the room with the oils to begin the massage, I put my phone down and did not pick up my phone during the session. I then spoke to the manager and she told me because I had booked online I did not receive a message to be there 15 minutes before the appointment. She then said that they had called me yesterday to confirm the appointment. I agreed someone had called me while I was at work teaching kindergarten. She said because I was at work and couldn't talk that is the reason they did not advise me to be there 15 minutes early. The manager did provide a discount but I would have preferred the 90-minute session. read more

Everyone else I had ended up hurting me when I asked for light pressure but she made my pain disappear without putting me in more pain for which I'm very thankful. Their monthly membership plan is good if you want regular massages but I have heard it's almost impossible to cancel your contract unless you have extenuating circumstances. read more

(and those words are usually reserved for food!) i am a member of massage envy harbison, i think everyone should get regular massages as a practice for good health. you bring your car in for tune-ups, you should do the same for your body. that said, i havent been in about 4 months. i've been busy and stressed, and the massage therapist could tell. i'm the kind of person that finds one good therapist and just sticks with them. at the start i had monica who was great. she remembered my sore spots and how my body was responding to the massage based off of how it's been in the previous visits. i went back and monica was no longer there *sadness*, so i let the ladies at the counter pick a new therapist for me - joana (sp?). she is great! for someone who's probably 120lbs soaking wet, she has a lot of strength (so did monica for that matter). she worked on my shoulders, neck, back, feet, legs, basically everywhere. she's got a great bedside manner, funny and goofy, but very knowledgeable about massage. i prefer deep tissue and trigger point therapy. i dont like to sleep while getting a massage, otherwise why get the massage?? i'm a member so i pay $49/month, and that gets me 1 massage per month. when i get a second one in that same month it's approx $40. if you dont use your member's massage that month it rolls over. i think they can take walk-ins, but they're generally pretty busy so i suggest making an appointment. and they have long hours 7 days a week so you can go after work. so you know, you should tip as well. they have a little placard in the rooms that show how much. an "ok" massage is $10. a good massage is $15, and excellent massage is $20. just wanted to give a shout-out to a fine establishment. my body is thankful. so there. read more

Do not get a membership here. I have been a member for 2 years. I have had over 5 appointments cancelled because a massage therapist was ill or was not coming in. When I had accrued 4 massage points, I did not give them my new credit card number when it expired. I was told because I did not have a current credit card they would not allow me to use my membership. DONT GET REELED INTO THIS. I will go further with this until I am satisfied. read more
