Neck issues are especially tricky, as working in an office environment can really stiffen up your back and neck since you're in the same position for a long time. Susanna is great at her craft, as I found I was able to finally have some relief and get my range of motion back. Will be going back here as long as I need to. The main con is some RMTs get booked up very fast, or their availability is limited, so you either have to book months in advance or take a day off to be able to get an appointment. Parking is a bit tricky here too, as it's in Kits and there's only side-street parking, which is full most of the time.

I went running three days ago and managed to do something ridiculous to my foot. Because i'm an idiot, I ignored it and went dancing... in heels. Not my proudest moment. You already know the ending: I woke up the next day and come hell or high water, could not stand on my sore foot for more then a few minutes. Enter two excruciatingly boring days on the couch before I called in some outside help. Here's what I know: I picked this place based on the close proximity to my house. All the good stuff is just bonus to the fact that I can be here and face planted on a table within 4 minutes flat. 1. I went online and booked same day, with an hour lead time. 2. It was $60 (tax in) for a 30 minute massage - which isn't "woo woo!" but it's standard. 3. After thirty minutes where Rick pulled, smushed and wiggled some things around (technical terms), and then took the time to grab the ol' text book for a quick knowledge session when I asked how he managed to poke my foot and make my shoulders quake (it was awesome), I left. The only reason ALL of this is awesome: I can stand! On TWO feet! My foot is still sore, but it's dull enough that I can once again resume being a functioning member of society. It's enough that I forgive them for calling themselves Mount Pleasant Massage when they are clearly in Riley Park. Respect the home turf guys! (I jest.) 30 minutes and I CAN do a happy dance again. I got over it since it was so close to home due to the great online booking tool which was very convenient and they were open on Saturdays, bonus! I was looking forward to getting my treatment started. I selected a random therapist from their list. First impression: Clean and bright. No one was at the front desk. I arrived 10 min early as their website suggested for new patients. I waited a bit and finally someone came out, he gave me the new patient form to fill in and was very nice and friendly. However, it turns out he is one of the therapists because his patient soon came in and he left to treat her. After that there was no one else at the front, just me sitting there waiting. Several people came in during this time and waited for someone and a few eventually left. During my wait various therapists came out with their patients post treatment and processed their own payments. I think a receptionist would have been helpful. My appointment was booked for 60 min and my therapist was running 15 min late by the time she came out with her patient. After their chit chat and payment processing it was closer to 20 min into my appointment before she acknowledged me and said sorry, she was running a bit late...including the 10 min early arrival I had been waiting for 30 min! Overall treatment was okay. I have had better. Unfortunately, the first impressions will not have me going back.

Each one has a strength, so if you're new, tell them what you're looking for and there will undoubtedly be someone there who specialises in just that. All the staff are Registered Massage Therapists. If you aren't able to speak to a person on the phone, just leave a message -- they will get back to you promptly. The office is simply decorated, but very comfy and calming and very neat. Whether you're trying to recover from a new (or old) injury, or just want to relax, I highly recommend Queen's Park. As for the practicals... Queen's Park happily accepts both cash and debit, but not credit. Parking is generally not an issue, especially as there is plenty of 2-hour free parking on nearby side-streets, or metred parking directly in front. The 106 bus runs up and down 6th street, and stops at both the New Westminster and Edmonds stations at either end of the run. There is no play area, however, so leave the childrens at home. Also, I am not sure if there is an elevator in their building; they are on the second floor, which may be a concern for people with limited mobility.

I have had many foot massages in my past but never at this place. I phoned and booked an appt. for 3pm - they quoted me $58 for 50 minutes for foot reflexology - good price. As I walked there, I live close by, I realized I was 15 minutes early 2:45--and that was when I was half a block away I saw my watch---they took me in set me up in the back area. It had a slight funky smell I couldn't quite place but comfortable recliner vinyl chairs with nice, dark lighting. They brought me black tea which I don't drink -- I said I'd do Green tea though? No, they don't have that and then they brought me water--water is good. I tell you all this because time is ticking by... I took off shoes and socks they brought foot bath as per norm had me turn around and move to the ottoman and the woman started to rub my shoulders--it was nice but I was there for my feet. Places often do this though to start as a complimentary service as your feet soak. That done, I moved back to the chair while she took the tub away I looked at my watch and it was 2:58 pm. She returned and thankfully moved onto my foot reflexology--it was a nice massage but not the best -- wasn't bad, kinda' just ok, but the woman was nice and friendly. Then very quickly it was over she got a hot towel to clean the oil off my feet and I looked at my watch and it was 3:34pm---whaaa? This was supposed to be a 50 minute massage for $58. So I said that it was not long enough--the very nice masseuse said 'oh the shoulder rub was part of it and the foot soak.' I noted I did not ask for a shoulder rub--I wanted a foot massage--she then had to talk with 'her boss' who proceeded to arrive and argue with me ruining any relaxation I had previously achieved saying basically -- 'too bad that was what they did there'. Now if I had wanted a combination massage I would have booked a combination massage, they have that available too for purchase---I wanted simply a 50 min foot massage--but now I just wanted to leave! What they should have done is just add another minimum 10 minutes as it was pretty obviously a lean service. I had said what time it was when the foot massage begun--not to mention what time I had actually arrived thru the front door---so it should have at least gone on for another 13 minutes. I had had enough arguing I put my shoes on as the 'boss' angily left the back area. I still gave my masseuse a $10 cash tip--was not her fault for the nastiness of her boss and their ridiculous policy. The nasty 'boss' was conveniently on the phone when I went up to pay. So I paid $60.90 (+$10 tip) for a nice but not great 36 minute foot massage--with a side helping of stress afterwards from the mean, non customer service friendly 'boss'. I wish I had asked if she was the owner? I write this to let others know what they may experience, and be forewarned of their practises as well as if this 'boss' does not own the establishment - the one who does own it knows what is actually going on there. I was the only customer there for the duration---which now makes a lot of sense.
