Haven't been here for a bit but was craving some Macho Fries.....BUT They changed the fries and these bland, white, slim fries didn't cut it. Bring back the seasoned steak fries.

The overall interior of the restaurant is unique and something I haven't seen before. The service was good which alot of menu options to pick from. Enjoyed the salsa at the salsa bar. I tried the #5 street tacos which came with 4 street tacos (with your choice of meat) and rice and beans. The meat was very juicy and tender and overall very good. This is definitely one of the more pricier tacos I've had in Phoenix.

When I arrived at Maskadores Taco Shop, I was quickly served. You simply tell them what entree you'd like, then select from available toppings / fillings, etc. Sadly, after I paid, I wanted to receive my receipt via email, but when I made the email selection, their Clover card terminal immediately refreshed to the Home Screen. No receipt for me. I ordered the Burrito Bowl with Carnitas. ($12.50 + tax + tip.) The meat portion was ample, but even though it was reheated on a flattop, it was just crispy on the exterior portions, but not warmed on the interior. It was topped with cheese, roasted corn, lettuce, pico de gallo, rice and pickled onions. The pickled onions were quite colorful, though the flavor was a bit off. Not bad, just different from what I've had in the past. The surprising standout was the rice; soft and fluffy. Given there were no other dine in Customers (and an Employee surfing the 'net behind the bar), the tables could have used a good wipe down. While there, you can check out there unique decor of masked men. But don't expect a greeting from Employees when arriving or leaving. I received neither.

    Theme on display.

We were looking for someplace to experience southwest flavor and found this small local spot. Fun decor and good flavors.

The tacos were excellent and the location was exceptionally clean. Downside: Location is not great and it is not clearly marked from the outside (Taco Shop is what sign says). The parking is terrible. There was also no other people in the restaurant when i was there which is always concerning. Service was fast and more at a fast casual environment than a sit down for dinner spot. I'd go back for the food quality, and takeout instead

I was visiting out of town and stumble upon this dive for lunch. Was not the "Mexican Restaurant" I was looking for, but is the Taco/Burrito/Enchilada dive I needed. The place definitely has tasty tacos, and food. If you like spicy you'll like it here. Its like a taco truck meets bar dive. Its like Chipotle but actually authentic taste. Tried the roasted corn topping, which was bumppin!!! Surprised the crowd from ASU is not blowin this place up. A dive undiscovered. Rice was tasty, could use some cilantro & lime, brown beans would be better in a small bowl like a soup, but overall tasty!!! The environment is chill. Great spot to take selfies for the selfie crowd with the art and the Mascara Wrestler figures. Happy Yelping!

A Lucha Libre themed taco shop in an unassuming strip mall. We asked the cashier what was her two favorite dishes and the Bandera Burrito and the 5 Street Tacos were her choice. So we ordered them and it was really good. The standout was the 5 Street Tacos with carne asada and barbacoa. The tacos hit the spot and were delicious with lots of toppings including corn and pickled red onions. The Bandera Burrito was good. We got the Chipotle chicken. Definitely not as stellar as the street tacos. If you are WRESTLING with what to order, go with the street tacos!!!

If you're looking for extremely authentic delicious Mexican food this is the spot. We went around 6 pm and it was dead, we were the only people there. Even while we ate, only a few people popped in here and there and after eat it surprised me because it was top 5 best Mexican food places I've been to. From the outside, it doesn't look like much just a hole in the wall in a little strip mall complex. Once you go inside you can tell it's an authentic family owned business. Their decor is WWE with mannequins spread out around. When you order, you have all the menu options on the wall and you go down the line and order kind of like a Chipotle but with real options like wet burritos, enchiladas, street tacos, etc. I had the 4 street tacos with shrimp ($2) extra and they were AMAZING. They were on two corn tortillas each warmed on a flat top grill and they have a generous amount of shrimp. You can choose you other toppings so of course I did cheese, corn, and pico. They also came with rice and either black or pinto beans. The other two in my group got a wet burrito which, was HUGE, enough for two servings and my dad had the quesadilla with carne asada. Lastly, they have a side bar with drinks and different salsas and jalapeños. Their salsa is super flavorful and spicy. Even the mild had a spice to it! Everyone absolutely loved their food and said they'd be going again. The prices are also extremely affordable. About $9-$10 a plate.

There were six of us, and we were quoted a 45-minute wait, which seemed reasonable at first. However, their system for managing waits is honestly pretty frustrating. There are no reservations, no text notifications, and no call when your table is ready. You're basically left hovering and guessing. We did make it back in time for our table, but a simple "hey, your table's ready" system would go a long way in making guests feel valued. We were seated around 8 PM after waiting and taken to a large corner booth in the back. Unfortunately, there were still two people from the previous party lingering at the table even after they had paid and the rest of their group had already left. I understand finishing drinks, but it felt inconsiderate given how busy the restaurant was and how long people were waiting. After being seated, it took about 15 minutes before anyone came to our table, and even then, not everyone in our group was acknowledged right away. Things didn't improve much from there. It took over 30 minutes just to place our food order. From what we could tell, there was only one server handling the entire restaurant. I can definitely empathize with how difficult that must be, but at the same time, when we first arrived, she appeared to be standing near the entrance rather than actively managing tables, which added to the confusion. When the food finally came out, it was very staggered instead of arriving together. I ordered the Taos tenderloin with green beans and fries. The sides were actually great--probably the highlight of the meal--but the steak itself was disappointing. I ordered it medium, but it came out with an overly charred, almost burnt crust that completely overpowered the flavor. The whole dish really needed basic seasoning like salt and pepper to bring it together. The atmosphere also didn't do much to help the experience. It's extremely dark inside--so much so that it's hard to see your food--and the space feels cramped. The layout is also pretty strange and honestly a bit off-putting. There's what appears to be a kitchen area right behind the bar, and then a full kitchen in the back--but what really stood out was the lack of separation near the restroom area. There's no proper door between the kitchen and the bathroom space, and from a small step down off the dining area, you can basically see straight into the kitchen if you wanted to. It just didn't feel very private or well thought out. Another thing that stood out was the portion sizes. While some people might see that as a positive, they were honestly too large--especially for those of us traveling who couldn't take leftovers with us. Slightly smaller portions might not only reduce waste but also help the kitchen keep up with demand and improve overall service speed. Overall, this ended up being more of a one-time experience than a place we'd return to. Between the disorganized wait system, slow and inconsistent service, and underwhelming food, it just didn't live up to the expectations we had going in.

Our party arrived right on time for our reservation, but we were not seated until 15 min later because our table was not ready. It took about an additional 15 min to get tap water for the table (there was not enough provided anyways), and to place our orders too another ~20 min. The food did not arrive until 30 min later. For context, we eventually learned that the restaurant was short staffed and the bartender was also operating as our waiter. When the food finally arrived, there was a mix-up on what was delivered. We had checked with the staff who delivered one of the dishes: we ordered the "wild mushroom" side, but what we received did not look quite like it. We asked clarifying questions x2, but were assured, "no, it is the wild mushroom." Turned out, it was the mushroom empanada that was delivered to our table, which we originally did not order. The management did rectify the situation upon the conclusion of the event when we were paying the bill, but to us, it felt a bit accusatory as if we intentionally wanted to cause a huge fuss about the final total, which was absolutely not the case. The food in general was delicious. If this was a more standard dining experience, it would have been 4-5 stars just for the food. The service was very subpar, and really colored the entire experience negatively, therefore the two star review. I understand that staffing shortages happen -- fine. My family has worked in food service as wait staff for 25+ YEARS, so I am empathetic. But for management to ring up our bill and then come confront us in an inflammatory manner, making us feel like we were wrong, on an occasion to celebrate something special, was extremely disappointing.
