RIDICULOUSLY SHAMEFUL! Read this and decide for yourself: Today (at about 7:35 pm) I drove to this bakery to buy bread. Stood in line waiting for another customer to finish her transaction. While waiting, I asked the female cashier if they still have bread. She told me that the last one is still available. Meanwhile, another Persian-Armenian customer came in minutes after me and asked the same cashier for bread. I am not Armenian, but I know the language, thus I understood what the conversation was about. The cashier told him as well that the last one is available. I patiently waited for my turn, but the female cashier went inside, came out shortly and told me that there was no more bread. I went back to my car and watched how the same cashier went inside again, came out with the last bread that she was supposed to give me and handed it to the Persian-Armenian customer, who came after me. My husband (by the way, Armenian), who was in the car with our children, saw the whole distasteful incident as well. He immediately went into the store while the happy Persian-Armenian male was still was holding the bread, happily conversing with the cashier. My husband asked, "So, you still have bread?", to which they almost simultaneously answered, "No, it was the last one." Absolutely! it was the last bread, which I was supposed to get based on our all-American "first come-first served" basis, based on simple human honesty and fair business ethics! I know and respect the Armenian culture and the Armenian people, although I am not Armenian. I teach my children to speak Armenian! My husband and I were not able to coherently explain to our little kids the reason why Mommy came out from that bakery empty handed while "uncle" came out after her with the "last bread," Good luck, enjoy the bread! read more

Got tired of waiting in line while old Armenian ladies elbow their way to cut in front of me at Paradise Bakery and stumbled onto this place after dropping off my dry cleaning next door. I am not familiar with a lot of these style pastries (I'm Canadian so it's Tim Horton's donuts or french macarons or Nanaimo Bars and that's pretty much it) so being a curious type, I would ask the nice young lady behind the counter what the interesting layered custardy chocolate round thing was. Her reply in a very sweet and quiet voice: "It's a sweet thing." Okayyyyyyyyyyyyy, so how about that square thingy. Its is custard filled or is that mocha? "It's a sweet thing" But what's IN it? I got a spicy cheese bread and beef and rice bread. They are both baked. The bread was good. In the beef one, the meet had a faint flavor of spice that was like pepper and spice, but it wasn't beefy enough. The spicy cheese bread was barely cheesy and spicy as I had hoped. Overall, I got savory food at a bakery and the bread was great and the meat and cheese inside were just a nice snack to taste. I can't tell you how much I appreciate what Masis Bakery did for me!!! I got married this past Saturday and the amazing team over at Masis Bakery fulfilled a rush order for almost 400 Macaroon without hesitation!!! They didn't just sell me 400 pieces... they went above and beyond and wrapped them individually for a very fair price. The best part is, they did all of this in 2 days!!! We have bought several Bday and other occasions cakes from this bakery before, all good! Few months ago we ordered an anniversary 2 tier cake with 2 different flagons on each tier. When we served the cake, found out wrong flavors and ingredients on both tiers! When complained, she just said: "I don't know how it happened"! Today I bought a cake and specifically asked the inside content, I liked it and took home to celebrate a birthday! Guess what! The cake was totally deep frozen, all fruits were deep frozen and we're unable to cut! When called to complain, she said: "If you wait a bit it'll defrost"! When I said that I'm embarrassed in front of guests and fam member, she said: "Don't know what to say, there's no one here and can't do nothing, what do you want me to say"?, I said at least you could say that you are sorry... What a wonderful local bakery! I needed to order some last minute black cupcakes (yes, black) for a coworker's birthday. I had admittedly procrastinated until the last minute, but had my heart set on this unique color. I called around that morning to at least 5 places near my office and Burbank and no one could help me, except Masis. The woman was so sweet and although she was very thrown and confused by my request, she had my order of 2 dozen black cupcakes ready for me that afternoon! When I went in the service was quick and friendly. I also discovered their cases full of delectable treats and had to pick up a couple of cannoli while I was there! Delicious! All of it! The cupcakes were a total hit and the bakery has become an office go-to for baked goods for all occasions. All of that, plus VERY reasonable prices! Highly recommended! read more

I found the perfect birthday cake design for my mother's 75th birthday party on Instagram at @masis.bakery. I placed the order on Friday and picked it up the next day on Saturday. The cake looked beautiful, it was exactly what I had ordered. I wish I could say the same about the taste but I cant. The cake was hard to cut, it tasted like old bread, like old butter, like old nuts, just old everything. I was embarrassed because all my guests felt the same way about the taste of the cake, more than half of the cake went to the trash. I do not enjoy doing Yelp reviews specially if it's a negative review but I cannot let this go because I paid a lot for this cake and we couldn't eat it. My mother's special day would have been perfect if it had not been for this cake. If you're only looking for a pretty cake design but don't plan on eating it then this is the place for you. We got a cake here for my Grandma's birthday and it was so beautiful. In fact the most beautiful cake we have ever bought. It tasted wonderful as well. The one we got was white cake, custard filling and white frosting. Porto's used to custom make this type of cake but they don't anymore. I like that Masis specializes in basic cakes. Did I mention that this huge cake was only 28? ( It serves tons of people. We had to give slices away since our waistlines couldn't afford it.) read more

I ordered cake and mini pastries for my daughter's birthday, via text, by the way, so everything was spelled out. When my husband went to pick it up, instead of fruit tarts, they had given me moose. The lady offered to replace them, but we had to wait so they could deliver from Burbank to their Sunland location. How about when someone has an event, you don't ask that they wait for 45 minutes until you deliver the correct item---rather, refund the money. I had asked them to write on the cake happy birthday and my child's name, and they forgot that too. While these are small details, I took extra precaution and sent everything via text so that they wouldn't screw it up. Additionally, their small pastries were listed as $. 75 cents a piece on the website, however, when I went to place the order, the lady called me back and said they were actually $.99 a piece and the website is incorrect, then processed to say that others have complained as well. I did a previous review, but somehow over the months they have been very disappointing, I recommended them and sad they did a horrible job. I order a specific cake ended up with something entirely different, the flavor was there but not what I ordered on the design. A side of that they also messed up my brother's cake, it was just a base ball design with LA on it. We ended up fixing it at home. Not sure what has been happening with them if they lost staff or they are getting too busy but I moved on to the next bakery even if that's a bit father. I am really disappointed with their customer service. The box they used for pastry was ridiculous. The box was torn on the side. And guess what they did: instead of changing the box they put a tape on it! My mom didn't notice that and It was a shame to walk to someones house with that box. I felt really ashamed. read more

Do not shop here. Masis bakery sells rotten lavash !!! Be careful! You can see the moulds on the bread lavash in the plastic bags on the shelves. You'd better ask and doublecheck the prices before paying, you can be misled by the cashier, she tells you the price of a pie for the small box, no matter you are pointing on the big one...and you figure that out(the overpay) only after putting the card into the machine.. But. You'd better do not shop here anyways, never know what kind of surprizes you can get. Like - "We do not do refunds or transaction cancellation when you pay with a card"... All their cakes taste the same... yes, all of them. The pastries taste old... and the finger foods are fried too deeply. The worst experience I had here was when the worker had blood on her finger (a bloody band-aid covered her cut); she didn't bother to wear a glove or GO HOME FOR THE DAY! Maybe at another work place that issue can be handled but for goodness sake, pastries shouldn't be served with blood anywhere near the food! I thought the owner would be concerned enough to do something about it so I specifically mentioned the problem to her the next time I saw her... she seemed concerned and said she would handle the issue but I still see the same employee there and although she may not have blood on her fingers, she still serves pastries without gloves... Sorry to only give this place 2 stars but I've had better. There cakes are delish and beautifully done. Desserts are okay but sometimes dry. They recently expanded by having food (beef and chicken kabab, Lula, hummus etc.) The wait for the food is a while so you might want to start out with dessert first. ( there is nothing wrong with that!!!) I would say it's good for a cheap meal or a nice cake to pick up quick. read more

long story short, don't go to this bakery. i Found a hair in the cake I was eating And they basically told me they don't care.

Absolutely horrible! They made my sons birthday cake and I have never been so embarrassed in my life! It was Mickey theme one of the ears was sliding off, the fondue was melting it was such sloppy work looked like a kid made it. Then when it was time to cut the cake even worse!!!! They stuck these plastic stuff to hold up the layers and when I was trying to remove them boy did it get messy! Cutting the cake was the worse part. Not one piece came out as a piece it was horrible. And when u wanted to eat it well you would have to wait 10 minutes because it was frozen inside! Never ever again would I everrrrrrr order a cake from this place.
