4 stars because the prices are right, motel clean, great location…read more We try to book this hidden gem every scallop season. Yeh, the motel isn't the Hilton but this is a fish camp! Clean, cold air conditioned rooms after a long day on the water is great. They offer a nice bait/ship store with super friendly people. We enjoy renting their 24' center consoles. They're super fast, stable, easy to operate, and reliable. Not only can some of our group find scallops but others fish for trout while we drift along the grassy flats of St. Marks. Other amenities include a covered fillet station with running fresh water, trailer parking, joining rooms, etc... Tip: Try to book a cottage. Two rooms and a screened porch but they book very early in the season. Also, if you see the cute little otter swimming around while your filleting your fish, toss him a few fish scraps. Adorable!

I wish when you were walking in they gave more instructions and required parents to watch small children closely as there are many touch tanks were small children could hurt the sea life. Probably not ideal for the animals, and the touch tanks and looking tanks are set up the same so kids are tempted to dip their hands in all of the tanks. It's a cool experience but I could see why people are concerned for the sea life that call this lab home.

This place is truly at the heart of what the forgotten coast is all about. This little place here…read moreon our gorgeous, forgotten coast is dedicated to so many invaluable missions when it comes to taking care of and preserving land as well as the creatures that dwell here whether they be on the land, in the sea or most comfortable in the air. It's very clear that everybody working here has such a heart and a passion for the reptiles, marine life, animals, birds, that they help in represent here in the community. This annual fundraiser for Gulf Specimen Marine Lab is such a fun way for all of us to try to drum up awareness & support for the mission here while getting to have a wonderful time playing dress up & bidding on really cool things at the silent auction. This year alone in our area they helped take care of hundreds of stunned sea turtles when the weather got well below what it typically is persistently for this area and that mission alone is more than worth heading over for a visit getting to learn about the wildlife in this area and supporting their endeavors! Not to mention the fact that there are so many, very interactive ways for both adults and kids to be entertained here while learning about our local wildlife & conservation!

The grass is a brighter green color than any other grass I've ever seen, making this a very bright and happy place to be. However, the grass is so bright green that we cannot see our neon yellow and blue golf balls (which were designed for maximum visibility). Also, the golf course runs right behind people's houses at some points, making it kind of awkward for me. And, near the beginning, there is a swampy area where alligators and snakes live.

This super park has a restroom, which was nice. A walking loop and benches. The only downside is that it is right next to the busy roadway so there's not much opportunity to zone out from the world at this park. Each lap is 0.6 of a mile. I did one and that was enough for today. Plenty of parking. [Review 14654 overall, 154 of 2021, number 1222 in Florida.]

The walking path is made of a unique material that is soft and squishy. It would probably be less taxing to walk on than asphalt or long grass. Walking on it definitely puts a spring in one's steps! The space was secluded in the middle of Hells forest and we had about 2-3 RVs with us making it an exclusive campsite.
