Gulf specimen marine lab sign and giant blue crab

We adventured to the Guif specimen marine lab uncertain what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised by a variety of exhibits, including touch tanks, sharks, loggerhead turtle and others. There are a lot of signs with educational information about sea life and some land creatures like hermit crabs. There are also many "pickled" specimens available for viewing to peek into the world of deep sea creatures. Lots of photo opportunities with various sculptures were available and the staff was very knowledgeable. There are feedings several times throughout the day for the sharks and turtles. Great for curious travelers with or without children.

This is always one of our highlights when we come to Panacea. It's fun without kids but has been a true delight now that our kids are walking. There are so many things they get to discover with little windows on their level and items they can touch. HIGHLY recommend if you're in the area.

Tony and I really enjoyed the Gulf Marine Specimen Aquarium. It Coast $12 each to have a self paced tour. There was so much to see. Truly enjoyed the park. I liked the statues that were littered around so I could take photos. They are very colorful and large. I really enjoyed the touch tanks. It was not crowded. They have octopus, sharks and crabs. There is this very large blind sea turtle and stingrays and horseshoe crabs. The Aquarium is definitely worth a visit if you're near by. Proceeds go to save other marine wildlife.

This place is really unique and cool. They have tons of touch tanks and everyone is very knowledgeable. I was there with a school group and they took us around explaining all the different animals there, let the kids touch so many different ones, and then we crossed the street to the gulf where they got to net out some crabs and other marine life to see what's in the local water. The kids LOVED this. Very educational and fun. Recommend.

We enjoyed our visit but the Laboratory was being worked on during operating hours. When we entered the room with all the touch tanks we stepped over cords powering saws as part of the doorway was being replaced. The tanks were crowded but it was very interesting watching all of the sea creatures. This exhibits are outside so be prepared for the sweltering summer heat if you visit during the warmer months. The literature posted around the park is visually appealing and informative but there are buttons that you can push to hear the sounds of sea creators, unfortunately none of them worked during our time there. The staff was friendly and willing to answer questions. We enjoyed our brief visit and we hope the sweet little sea turtle we saw is able to be released soon!

First time visiting the marine. Went with my son on a play date and they enjoyed it. I would Suggest having some interaction with people who work there to give tours or provide information about the marine life this will make it more lively.

Lots of cool things to see for all ages. Our grandchildren enjoyed touching and seeing all the different marine life. Can't wait to go again!!

I used to love this place - as a kid, when I didn't know what conditions marine life was supposed to be given in an aquarium. Aaaand the place hasn't changed since I was a kid. The tanks are cramped and filthy - lots of them with dead creatures (Not feeder fish) floating around in them. There are no instructions for kids and ignorant parents on how to hold the touch tank creatures - there was a family of kids picking up the horseshoe crabs by the tails and literally ripping the tails off. My boyfriend alerted a staff member to this, who didn't seem to care much. This place is cruel.

Fantastic place. Touch tanks, sharks, seahorses, a turtle. Perfect break from beach time, or rainy day.

Fish aren't in the best condition, but they're doing what they can with what they have. Still a fun experience for 12$ a ticket.

We went here during our family vacation. Great little find, our kids (3&7) loved it. The big sea turtle was the highlight!

We sought out a professional aquarium tank cleaner for our yellow belly aquatic turtle. My husband…read moreand I just couldn't seem to get the murky water clear and with our health issues it was getting to the point where cleaning it was just becoming too much. Well for $199 you would expect clear water or at least some improvement in the water in. But no. The water never got clear and in fact was worse than when they cleaned it. They never took the turtle out while they were cleaning it and frankly, I don't think they really did a whole lot except for clean the filters and the side of the tank. It was a total waste of our money and a total rip off ! I text the owner twice complaining about the service because I did wait a few days to see if the water cleared up and still just more murky water. You would think being a professional company that they would at least discount what they charged. Especially since the water showed no improvement. But no. Don't waste your money on this company. The results will not be in your favor. Total and complete rip off ! Oh and when I sent these pictures to the owner she said the water looked clear to her Not sure what she thinks clear is, but surly we have 2 different options as to what clear water looks like.

Had the first guy told me that I wouldn't have spent over $80 on shrimp and I felt like since they told me it was good to go they should've at least offered me a refund or something but no dice I will not be buying anything from here again. I came in for two weeks prior talking to them setting up my tank getting tips and was really excited about the whole thing this was my first time dipping my toe into the hobby and on a previous visit with a friend who bought some rainbow fish they were told that if any of them died that they had a 24 hour guarantee on their fish so I was even more disappointed when they denied that guarantee and then denied that they even had one when I came in with my dead shrimp honestly the whole experience has soured me to the this was an opportunity where they could have locked me in as a customer for life hell even if they had given me store credit it wouldn't have left such a bad taste but I don't feel like I can trust them anymore after the contradicting information I got the loss of my shrimp and the refusal policies that we were told previous existed

Cindi and the Pet Stop crew have become our second family. We have purchased four puppies from them…read moreover the years and each one was heathy, well socialized, adorable, and the absolute joys of our lives. She doesn't just stop providing services once you leave the shop. If you need her for ANYTHING even after years, she will be there without a thought. She has even watched our pups while we went on family vacations. She wanted them to be somewhere she KNEW they would be safe while I was away rather than in a kennel. Their store is so neat! I honestly don't know how they keep it so tidy, but it's spotless every time we show up. I love the brands she carries because they are quality specific brands you can't buy anywhere else. Plus, the fact that she brings her pups in each morning to greet her patrons is always the icing on the cake. They are so sweet! If you are considering a pet, come here. Other pet shops don't compare and the pet you get is likely to be ill cared for. You won't find that here. What you will find is a pet family for life!!! ***Just wanted to mention that it is so unfair when people leave negative reviews for malicious, self serving purposes. Unfortunately, this happens more than it should. Always go see for yourself.
