Tony and I went to Alligator Point Beach on the Gulf of Mexico today, August 12, 2022. It was sort of rainy, drizzling with choppy water and high winds. It was a mild 77 degrees. It was very nice!!!

It it's a pretty decent beach. I took Waze to get here and it dropped me off at a funny location. Waze has tend to do that lately. Anyhow, if you happen to use Waze to get here, just drive a little bit further down and you will find a place to park and it would be clear where the public access to the beach is because there will be signs. It's always nice to be at the beach And the waves were gentle at least when I went. Lots of seagulls and I think pelicans were there which were a nice sigh and sound. There is not much around, just houses of people who live there so, come with your own food. I could not find a place to rinse off, that was a draw back. And bring your own shade

    Dont stay here tho

Located at the eastern end of Franklin County, Alligator Point's protected bay, Alligator Harbor Aquatic Preserve, encompasses 14,366 acres and serves as a nursery for many game fish species such as grouper, snapper, cobia, tarpon, and redfish. Miles of pristine beaches, an abundance of shallow bays, marshes and fresh water rivers provide great outdoor opportunities including deep sea and sight fishing, boating, kayaking, bird and wildlife viewing. Walk miles without passing another person, cast a rod, catch shrimp, enjoy sunsets, collect shells or just gather your thoughts. The absence of noise and glaring lights makes for prime relaxation and exquisite stargazing.

We were not sure what to expect here. My husband wanted a quiet place to fish and I found it! We are used to Pensacola and it's amazing water. The water here isn't clear and your bathing suit stinks like death after it dries. But the fishing is excellent, he caught 35 fish in a week, all different kinds! As you can see in my pics, it is a beautiful place but during the hot portion of the day, no amount of cold beer could cool me off! This was more suffocating than the 110 degree weather I experienced in Death Valley. I stood under cold water inside the outdoor shower to cool off. I imagine fall, winter and spring are much more comfortable here. I was happy my dog could enjoy the beach. Bugs weren't bad here. Drove over to St. George island just to check it out and the mosquitos were so bad we left in literally 5 minutes! Also drove over to Port St. Joseph peninsula....there's the beautiful water! I swam for hours. If you're looking for desolation, quiet, book reading conditions, this is it! But if you want to shop or try different restaurants, (without diving a good distance) this place won't be for you. Also, we saw a shark that was 10' in length only about 200 yards from shore. Too close for my comfort! PS, I never got into water above my knees. We will likely return to gulf where I can clearly see what I'm swimming with.

You'll wanna put your bathing suit in the trunk after swimming here. It's pretty, but there are better areas. Water is a bit murky

The water, sand, sun and sky have always held magic, like religion for free spirited souls. I come here to disconnect on many levels but also to connect with a sense of calmness that only exist by the sea. Some beaches are filled by the masses they flock and frolic and fill every inch of real estate, some beaches seem abandoned, deserted and sacred, that's where you'll find me. Carrabelle Beach is calm, it's tranquil, peaceful and historic. The "forgotten coast" is the last remaining stretch of unspoiled, pristine Gulf Coast beaches, it's like no other and I have experienced many, for me there may not be a better place to do nothing...

It's a stunning crescent-shaped beach with a great view of the Saint George Sound that leads into the Gulf of Mexico. Note that the seagulls are particularly aggressive. I was easing a piece of cheese (cheese!) and they were swarming in a very scary way until there was no cheese left. [Review 14667 overall, 167 of 2021, number 1233 in Florida.]

If that's not enough, the park itself is clean, quiet, well maintained and supported by phenomenal staff which is definitely the icing. The facilities and laundry services are all clean and updated. There is a pool on site, which is always a nice thing to have in Florida. The park itself is never so overrun that you feel like you're constantly on top of somebody else or having somebody else in your space. Our entire time that we stayed here was actually right after Hurricane Helene hit the area, we had only just purchased our house when it was totally ruined by the hurricane & luckily we still had our rig. This spot allowed us to be nearby while we were trying to even just simply be able to get back in our house to assess damage but beyond that the folks here really did everything that they could to support and lift us up and in an exceptionally hard time. I say all of this as a someone who lived full-time on the road in our class A rig prior to buying here locally so I totally understand the usual complaints/hoped for items when you're looking for somewhere to stay. While placed in rule setting, there are beach access points within 10 miles either direction from the campground but genuinely you just can't beat the dock here as far as fishing, hanging and catching the sunrise and sunset. However just really want to highlight how amazing the folks here are as we understood that our who was catastrophically ruined and unlivable, they really went above and beyond to help us out in every way that they could to provide us a place to stay and any support that we may have needed. Just really great people running a really great local, quiet hidden gem.
