I went there and found myself disappointed. The time said 9:00_9:00 I went there at 6:30 and they were out of everything plus the person working at the restaurant had stepped out for an hour. The mini mart cashier said it doesn't normally happen.. no thanks read more

Amazing!!! Start to finish. I found it on yelp because it was close with good reviews and I'm so glad we went! At first we thought it was just a store but we went in anyway. The owner gave us a lesson on Indian food that despite our years of eating it we had somehow never learned. The food was amazing and it was an overall great experience! read more

Love the curry! I ordered the spicy and my wife had the regular. It was her first curry and now the standard is set high for her! The owners gave us a sample of their saag and it was off the hook! The owners made us feel like friends as soon as we walked in. Large portions for a reasonable price. Everything is made with a family recipe. read more

WOW! Give me more! I'm not Indian, but I would bet that this is what home cooking tastes like in India.

I went to this place based on Yelp reviews while I was in town for one night. And it was close to my hotel. When I found the place has a little questioning because I parked and when I went in it look like how is in a convenience store with a couple of tables. I asked the lady behind the counter if they do mostly take out and she said no I could have a seat. We talked about the food and that I wanted to have dinner and some leftover for lunch tomorrow. I ordered the small chicken masala Curry and I wanted something else to try to. So I ordered the saag. She asked if I wanted a half or even though they usually don't do that since I was by myself. She said their portions are very large. I said sure and thank you. I also own a samosa. And then I sat down. The samosas are already made and kept in a heater box. When I saw that I was a little questioning. But my first bite into the samosa was delicious. There were so much seasoning in the filling and it was so tasty. It was served with a mint Chutney which was a little sweeter that I'm used to so I had to ask what it was just confirmed it was meant. But it was delicious. Then VJ brought out my meal. It was a lot of food. I'm not a big rice eater but I put a little bit on my plane because they brought me a huge Bowl. And has been some chicken masala Curry on to it. It came with 4 pieces of chicken thigh and a couple of potatoes. This was the small size. I did have to cut up the chicken thighs and it had so much flavor. Delicious. I did order two pieces of naan so I was trying to scoop up the curry with mine naan. The song was not what I am used to. They are from the south of India. Where they do not use cream and cheese. This was okay with me because the reason I order the song was because the picture on the wall did not show the big chunks of cheese. I loved it. It had zucchini cook down with spinach and maybe red peppers and a lot of other spices and maybe some other vegetables. It was delicious but a little spicy at medium for me. She did warn me and asked if that was okay when I ordered it. I loved it. There was another couple there when I came in who knew them from their previous store location. They were in for a visit, so it was fun listening to them talk. They serve a lot of vegan food and have worked with the local Adventist offices to make dishes that would be good for the local community as well. A very nice couple and the best Indian food I have ever eaten. I will definitely come back if I'm in the area again. read more

Masala Box - Naan, rice, saag, chicken masala Curry. - Indian Near Me - Gladstone, Oregon

The best chicken curry and veggie samosas! Never would have found this place where it's at, but I'm so glad I did!

We(Balaji, Dhilip and Venkat) recently went to Masala box(Gladstone, Oregon city) and had a great indian food after a three week search. We ordered Chicken curry and rice, Paratha with chicken gravy. Wow.. perfectly tastes like home food. We must thank the Owner Vijay Natesan, he is so kind and treating us great. read more

I recently moved into this neighborhood, so this is the closest store to my place. I'm not a huge fan of Indian food, but this place smells incredible. The owner/Operator is very nice. He took the time to explain some of the dishes that he prepares himself. I love the Samosa. They are awesome. The best part, is he carries my Mike's Mango Punch. He doesn't charge a deposit on cans, but he doesn't return them either, so save your cans and take them in somewhere else. Don't go to the strange cig shack next door for any reason, EVER! He ripped me off. I think he is an awful person and I will never return, for anything. But the Masala Box is wonderful and I can't wait to try my next adventure meal with them. read more

Wonderful gem in Gladstone! Authentic, delicious, and large portions with very friendly service. Servings are family-style with a great selection. The location is somewhat hidden tucked on the side of a quiet road, but my family and I highly recommend visiting if you're passing through Gladstone! read more

The owners were SO adorable and nice and the chicken curry was the best!!! Got the naan as well of course and that was also amazing. I don't know if you would consider it a restaurant or a gas station but either way the food was so yummy it doesn't even matter! read more

We had eaten here once before and loved the food so much that we stopped by on this visit to Oregon City. from our home in Sutherlin before even checking in to our hotel! Yes the menu is small, but the food is wonderful. We had samosas, shrimp vindaloo and a chicken aloo dish along with the most tasty naan bread. The owners are so friendly and remembered us from our visit several months before. This is our must go to place when we are in the area. read more

I LOVE Masala Box. This is a small place with a smallish menu, but everything is exceptional. All the basics are covered. Great naan, veggie samosas, curry, saag, mango lassis and madras coffee, etc. Super reasonable prices. Super generous portions. Maybe not great for large groups since there are only three or four small tables. It's more like a delicatessen vibe, but with quality restaurant food. We always get takeout and have enough leftover for lunch the next day. I don't think anything on the menu is more than ten dollars, so it's a good value. Also, it's pretty good for vegetarians since they have veggie options. The owners are the nicest, most courteous people you'll ever meet. I know I'm going overboard with praise but I really love that I don't have to drive to Portland for Indian food again. read more

We are great lovers of Indian food and have found our home right here! Fantastic food, wonderful people and prices that make this a weekly stop for us. You can find much more expensive places to eat Indian food, but you will absolutely not find better food. They make it while you wait. If you want my favorite, Ginger-Garlic Shrimp, get ready for a burst of flavor with every bite! Do yourself a favor and give them a try for a wonderful take home and enjoy moment. read more

1 star off for environment- and prices that were slightly higher than the environment dictated... The food was great though- really tasty- genuine food that my family truly enjoyed. Although the location is interesting and the inside is not-quite-a-restaraunt- the food was so good that my family will make this a regular stop. I think that if the food was at a slightly lower price point they would garner more business and would need to make an outside eating area..; read more

Fantastic food, the owners and the service are wonderful. Small Gladstone location. Price is great the portions are huge. We plan to go back as a casual night out and get regular pick up for dinners at home or lunch at work. The eggplant was awesome. read more

Delicious. Their walk in beer cooler was on the fritz but their beer prices are awesome as well.

Best Indian food in the SE suburbs. The owners sincerely care about their food and their customers. And the portions are huge. And there is beer on tap. The chicken paratha is a must. The Saag is dialed is so dialed in. How can you beat a huge Dish of food for $7-$10 that turns into 3 meals? You can't, and it is delicious fresh and as leftovers. You gotta check this place out. It's a one of kind hole in the wall owned by some of the nicest people you'll meet. read more

I only ever get the chicken curry. I have never tried anything else except that and the samosas. BUT it is because the chicken curry is SO good and you get a good portion for what you pay. The chicken and potatoes are sooo tender(every time), the rice is soft, and the flavors are great. There hasn't been a week that's gone by that I didn't want the curry for lunch or didn't go and get it since I first came here. Service is friendly and prompt. I like to call ahead for take out. This place is not fancy and is by all means CASUAL. Menu is limited but simple. It is small inside and has two tables to dine on. I just love that about this place though. They don't need much because their food does it all for them. Glad to have Masala Box so close to home! read more

Great spot! The Masala Box is super authentic, very flavorful. If you are around, definitely stop.

My husband & I legitimately feel like we've found a hidden gem. We live so close up the road and can't believe we are barely finding out about this place. The food is so delicious and it feels as if you're eating a homey meal. The owner is so nice & was always checking up on us during our meal, which we really appreciated. The naan bread was extremely good & the MANGO LASSI was to die for too. We shared a meal with our toddler and it was the perfect amount of food. We will definitely be coming here more often that's for sure. read more

Really great food and friendly people. We stopped in after a long hike and they took great care of us. Chicken masala curry is excellent. The Samosas were also very good. The naan was the best ever. It was all home cooked. Loved it!!! read more

We have visited twice. Both times quite amazing. Dined there the first time, take out the second. Dine in is a little sparse, but interacting with the owners is a real treat. They love what they are doing and they take the time to do it right. The saag is great and the curry is also just right. Now days when we want Indian Food, Marsala Box is at the top of the list. As one of the owners told us on our second visit, "...we serve good food, not fast food." Well worth the wait or you can call ahead. read more

The gentleman running the place is incredibly nice and is invested in making sure you are getting the best food. And it works, the food is delicious! I would definitely recommend if you want some great prices Indian food and still have that at-home feel! read more

Authentic Indian food - vegetable saag was very tasty with just the right amount of heat. Vegetable samosas are light and honestly, hard to resist! Great conversation with the owner about India's history. The space is modest, but the food is superb - and ample servings. We will definitely return! read more

What a lovely surprise to find this place. Oak Grove & Gladstone are such a wasteland for interesting food if you want something other than fast food or greasy Asian-Americanized food so it was such a lovely treat to find this tiny place serving up authentic Indian food. We had the chicken masala and saag with a side of naan. It was more than enough for two hungry people who'd been working hard all day. We plan to come back soon! read more

This place is frankly amazing. It is the definition of a hole in the wall. We came across it completely by accident, and I'm so glad we did. They serve some of the best Indian food I've ever had. We will definitely be ordering take out in the future and have no qualms driving from Portland to pick it up. read more

This place is a hidden gem on a city of food jewels. Absolutely worth it. The people. Behind the counter are genuinely kind. Food smells so good and tastes better. Don't let the sparse contents when walking in fool you. Locals seem to make a steady appearance and be on a first name basis. read more

I was listening to my Audible book, "The Orphan Keeper", and it described Indian food in such a way, that I just HAD to find some.... I checked yelp and was surprised to find some in Gladstone, of all places. I bought the saag, chicken masala, and some samosas. Delicious!! I will go back. The owner was very nice as he explained the options to me. I took the food to go. read more

Best Indian food ever! Good portions, phenomenal flavor, each dish prepared individually so can be a wait. But well worth it. Small menu with years old recipes and wonderful owners. Place is small with a little market inside, but worth the drive. read more

S & K Market & Indian Deli is FANTASTIC! The owners are the nicest people on the planet & I am delighted to have them in my neighborhood! The samosas from the deli are to die for and the store has a nice selection and prices are good. You won't be disappointed! read more

Don't be fooled by the less than appealing location! They are set back from the road and easy to miss, especially if you're staring at the neighboring shop that looks like a scene from hoarders... But the masala box is clean and bright and the man and woman (husband and wife I presume) are just as amazing as their food. They have a beer section like a mini mart and then a little dining area that's brightly lit with basic tables and chairs. Now let's talk about the two things that make this place amazing, the food and the people! The food is fantastic! Some of the best Indian food I've ever had. The saag is delicious! Tangy with tons of flavor and a little heat. The samosa's are to DIE FOR honestly, the masala box samosa would be part of my last meal on this earth if I had any say (but I can't because I'm stuffing my face with them!) obviously this couple has found their calling and their love and passion for what they are doing is apparent in the taste and flavor of their cuisine. I'm now a masala box lifer. read more

It's hard to refer to this as a restaurant because it's more like a mini-mart with fabulous food. The couple that owns it is very friendly. You might do takeout unless you're up for a weird adventure. read more

From the street, the appearance of Masala Box is a bit daunting - I hesitated going there for 6 months to a year. I am glad that I didn't wait any longer - the food is DELICIOUS and the owners are very nice. Although the menu is limited in the number of dishes, the saag and chicken aloo that we had, rivaled the food in any other Indian restaurant I've been to (including very good places in Los Angeles, Seattle and Vancouver BC). I will definitely return! read more

Amazing Indian food in Gladstone, so unexpected! Everything was authentic and delicious. They even had vegetarian options. Saag and Chicken Masala was especially delicious. We'll be back for sure! read more

I discovered this place on Yelp and ordered take out for the first time yesterday. I tried the chicken masala, shrimp vindaloo, chicken aloo paratha and the samosas. Everything was delicious. I ordered the masala and vindaloo mild. The flavor was great but I will probably get it medium next time. I was just being cautious since I hadn't eaten there before. The paratha came medium and was excellent. The portion sizes are large and our family is eating the food for another meal today. The owner was friendly and helpful, answering any questions I had. He also cooked the meal for me while I waited. I will probably call my order in next time, just in case. I will definitely be back. read more

We just ate at this restaurant for the first time. The food is awesome. The owners are awesome. There are only a couple of tables, and it feels like a store more than a restaurant if you overlook the excellent and friendly service. We had the chicken curry and the salmon vindaloo. We will be back for more of both! read more

Wow! Who knew? Was in the area, randomly, asked hubby to meet fur lunch. The owner was very friendly and accommodating. Had the chicken and Naan bread! So good. Ordered medium spicy, which was perfect. Ate in the store, wishing I didn't have to go back to work or would've had a beer on tap. Highly recommended. read more

This place is great! Simple menu, great prices and the best food. You never would have guessed.
