Simply the worst customer service ever I experienced. Starting from enquiring the availability of Restaurant and getting help to choose the size. The person in the front desk doesn't know how to respond to a customer. He can't even show the container size to estimate how much food to buy. He can't say how many people can eat the food they sell. No place eat, just take in hands and go away. No serving spoons, no carry bag, worst package, just take the hot food in hand and get out. The food here was delicious. We placed a large order for my department at work and I have never heard our group so quiet. Everyone was just focused on the food. They were so accommodating with everything. Asked for spice level on each order. The samosas were DELICIOUS!!! We had the Butter chicken, chicken diced Masala, Vegan Saag, chicken strips and fries. Everything was incredible. We all agreed it was definitely a 5 out of 5 on all items. I should also mention that this is a family run business and they could not be nicer. We finally got to try this place! The first time they ran out, the second and third they were closed. Fourth time is the charm! We got two chicken tiki masalas, lunch size for $10. They also offer a large dinner size for $20, they said it was double the price for double the portion. Still, the lunch size served as two eating portions when accompanied with naan and veggie samosas. We got one order in mild and the other in medium spice. Let me say, the medium spice was what others might consider just plain spicy. We like spice but it still had us sweating. They have that good kind of heat, that builds and stays with you. We ordered take out, they had all of their tables lifted up so that you could only order as such. They also only allowed one customer in at a time, to pick orders up. Asking you to sanitize your hands before coming in and making sure you had a mask on. I really liked that they kept their food in a warming electronic, so that it stayed hot and fresh for you. We cannot wait to try their other dishes here! The chicken was so tender and flavorful. They used skinless chicken thighs and it just melted in your mouth. The amount of sauce given was perfect to mix into their rice. The naan was chewy and warm, the samosas were crunchy on the outside and had a great blend of vegetables and spice on the inside. Everything had a good kick but we were happy to find that their "mild" was child friendly. So that we can order for the kiddo and the adults. The owners were also very friendly and pleasant. Overall, super stoked that this place is so close to us. We will be coming often! We've been missing some of our fav Indian eateries that are on the west side, excited to find a solid one on the east side. Neighborhood gem in a convenience store setting with 3 tables inside and 2 out under cover. Cooking and service is family style in glass bowls with large spoons, regular forks and paper plates? odd. Just an observation, not a complaint. Salmon Vindaloo $16 has 4 pcs 3-4"x1.5" perfectly cooked, moist and just done as requested, and Chicken Masala (Small size) is a hefty portion of 3 boneless skinless thighs only $7! Curries are thinner gravies, spiced well and plentiful. Enough to take home and add more protein to make a 2nd meal. Naan $2 came nicely crisped and there's a cooler full of beers, 22oz $3.75 Portland Brewing IPA, cider and wine. Single Draft was a Fresh Squeezed IPA $4. NEXT time saag and shrimp vindaloo, and Madras Coffee and Mango Lassi just $2 ea. Owners, Suriya and VJ work the counter and kitchen and quickly make you feel welcome. Stepped in at 6PM just before the Friday dinner rush, backing up orders quickly to 1hr+. Plan ahead for that, there is a lot of take out. read more

10/10 experience everytime we order Masala box. Steve, Agnes, and their son Chris are all so kind and genuine, and I always leave with a smile on my face. And that's BEFORE I've had any of their food! Chris even dropped off my food for me a couple of weeks ago when I was having an issue with my car and running late. Best comfort food I've ever had. The chicken masala tastes like it's been marinating for days, so rich in flavor, and juicy and tender. I've never had a less than phenomenal meal from here. Also try the shrimp vindaloo if you have a little longer to wait! This dish takes about 40 minutes to prepare but is so worth it. Masala box is THE best. read more

Might be authentic owners, but they're not making authentic Indian food to sell. Curries are quite watery and pre mixed with rice which dilutes the sauce down further and doesn't make for eating with naan very well. The naan is also kind of bland and dry. Spice levels were almost non-existent which kind of figures in to the idea that the Indian-ness flavors have been toned down. Kind of disappointed as the chicken was actually cooked quite well and was super moist and tender. The samosas were pretty good though. Those deserve a star. read more

This little hole-in-the-wall take out only restaurant in Gladstone is a little gem. The menu is very limited but there is decent variety and a few Vegan options as well. The food is prepared when ordered and can be spiced as preferred. The restaurant also offers a dozen different flavors of ice cream, sold by the scoop, as well as milkshakes including an Indian version. The owners are friendly and work hard to please. The BEST Indian food place nearby. I'm from NYC and I've had my fair share of Indian food and this is definitely one of the best. They're authentic which is very special compared to most places these days. They only have a few dishes on their menu but they're all excellent. They also give great portions for the price. The chicken Masala curry is my favorite and I always have chicken left after I run out of the rice, so be sure to order extra rice or make some at home! They do make their food spicy so be careful when you order mild, medium or hot. read more

Came here to buy some drinks and started talking to the very nice Indian owners. Saw that they had a small kitchen and asked about food, ended up with samosa and chicken curry for lunch. They are from Chennai, which I've been. It was really cool talking to the owners and they are super nice. I ate the samosa there while waiting for my food. They cook to order so it takes a bit. They aren't setup for eating there but did have a table so I used it. The masala that came with the samosa was so good I drank the rest of it after I was done. The chicken curry was what I expected - not all creaming and buttery like the norther Indian food. Southern Indian tends to focus solely on the spice and use less fatty ingredients that mask flavor. Suffice to say it was great surprise visit for me. Great food, good company. I also found out from my brother in law that this is a very loved local shop. If someone is short on change they let them go with an IOU. When the landlord wanted their own family to take over the place local people petitioned to keep them around. In Portland, you can't ask for a more community place than this. Oh and that bike guy who someone else said was mocking these Indian owners in their accent - their English is just fine. Take your entitled prissy attitude and go away. This is what we need more of in the Northwest - a community builder. Only 1 star away because it's not a sit down dining because as much as I like the owners and the food, it is truly not quite a restaurant. read more

We called in An order during a road trip and our food was ready for us by the time we got there. I have to say, the Masala was bomb as fuck and the spicy saag paneer was rich and bold! The service was warm and kind and they spoke to us like family. Will for sure be returning! Also, before we got there, this one guy was being a total blow hard to them and it made me sad, and they handled it with grace and dignity while kindly explaining "our orders are made to order for the customer because we want to make the food right for them" (paraphrasing hard here, but you get it) they take their time to make a special meal and that's something we overlook and take for granted these days. read more

This little ground floor family business is so good and it reminds me of ground floor food shops in India. They make great Masala, Spicy Saag, yummy samosas and home made chutneys.
