I can't say much about the school itself, but the
facf that they put on a completely FREE, absolutely incredible performance of "The Nutcracker" as a gift to the community for the last 35 years on Christmas Day and the 26th is worth 5 stars!!
This has become one of our family's favorite traditions as many others who I have spoken with that live in the area. We have been taking our girls since before the could walk and they love it more with each passing year. Now they finally weigh enough and hold the theater seats down. :)
It's honestly a truly amazing production, one they could charge and arm and a leg for back home in Philly. It's crazy to think there's no admission fee for such entertainment. The actors and dancers, fully costumed do pass around a hat so make sure you donate to keep this amazing tradition alive and well and thriving in Scranton! They also sell Nutcrackers, snacks and bows for the girls to help raise funds.
Get there early! While it is free, you must get there two hours prior to your show to get your complimentary tickets. We usually then head for a quick lunch in town and come back.
There is free parking, but it could take some time as the small streets do get busy. Plan to leave some extra time. You don't want to miss a minute of this!
Last year there was a local cupcake truck outside! Pick up a half a dozen if they're back again which I think they will be! Hubs and the kids said they were amazing!
Take a drive through Nay Aug Park to see the holiday lights afterwards! This all makes for an incredible Christmas! One you and your children will love and remember. Perhaps we will see you there year after year as well! read more
