I attended Greater Nanticoke Area school district from kindergarden until high school graduation,…read morebut there was a period of time during my early teenage years when I was home schooled. I'd been suffering from headaches for years. My family doctor, quite understandably, was convinced they were stress related. In school I was an overachiever; grades were more important to me than anything. I remember kicking out a window in anger after I received my first B+ on a test. I had also given myself painful stomachaches. I remember being tested for ulcers at an early age and downing Pepto-Bismol like it was milk. My desire to succeed, and overshadow my fellow classmates, was causing me physical and social strain. I had few friends my own age and was always more comfortable around adults. I tried to make friends with my teachers and I saw them as equals instead of authority figures. I passed out in science class one day during the sixth grade. As I approached the teacher's desk, preparing to hand in an assignment, my face felt flush and I fell to the floor like dead weight. I must have only been unconscious for a moment or two, but it was enough for my parents to schedule me an appointment with a specialist. I was diagnosed with a cerebellum tumor in August of 1998 and underwent brain surgery soon thereafter. I had been out of school for several months. I neglected my studies, spending all my time recuperating and in physical therapy. Besides, I now fatigued very easily and would never make it through an entire school day--or even a modified half schedule. Eventually, I would restart my classes. Greater Nanticoke Area would arrange for a teacher to come to my house for several hours, three times a week. I was referred to as a "homebound student." It was already midway through the school year when I began my home schooling, and I was afraid of being held back a grade. However, because I previously excelled in my academia, I was able to pick up right where I left off. Most of my work was done on the computer as I still had trouble writing longhand. I was able to juggle my studies and therapy, and maintained a high grade average. Still, there were times I would get overwhelmed by my workload. I would act out, and get either very angry or emotional. During the day, my homebound teacher, Mrs. Zaborney, taught students who were mentally incapacitated and developmentally challenged. As such, she was patient and understood my limitations. Mrs. Zaborney would give me lessons in every subject for the next several years that followed. Fortunately, I was fully recovered by the beginning of senior year and able to attend graduation ceremony with my fellow students.

My one very real complaint is that when they transition from the young toddler to older toddler room( which is usually by age 3.5) there is no designated naptime. It's just cut off. I was told if they are tired they have a rest area. That doesn't work. This is just not acceptable for that age group. Most of these kids are starting their days by 6:30 am or earlier. To go all day long without nap is just crazy. There should be a better way.

As a parent, entrusting someone else with your child is one of the hardest things to do--but from…read morethe moment we walked into ABC KiddieKampus, we felt an overwhelming sense of warmth, professionalism, and genuine care. Our 4-year-old had struggled with separation anxiety and was behind on speech milestones when we first enrolled. We were nervous, hopeful, and honestly a bit overwhelmed. But the team at ABC didn't just meet our expectations--they exceeded them in every possible way. The teachers here are incredible. Patient, intuitive, and clearly passionate about what they do. Within weeks, we saw huge changes: our son was communicating more, excited to go to daycare, and coming home telling us about his "friends" and "Miss A." They took the time to understand his unique needs and strengths and truly partnered with us every step of the way. We especially appreciate the little things that add up to something big: the detailed daily reports, the frequent pictures of his learning and playing, and the way the staff greets him (and us) by name every single morning. They celebrate his milestones like they're their own--and as a parent, that means the world. Today, he's more confident, socially engaged, and hitting his developmental milestones with joy. And honestly, we couldn't have done it without ABC Kiddie Kampus. If you're looking for a daycare that feels like an extension of your family, this is it. Forever grateful, -- A Happy Parent

The Harris' are great people, love the kids and teach them to be great people, not just dancers. There are other studios, but none that offers the balance of challenging dance, and learning to tell a story through dance. They focus on performance, not competition. My favorite is the spring ballet, which is a full length ballet performed by the entire studio, from 4 years old to adult. They have a wide breadth of courses, for kids and adults. All styles and skill levels. They also have some acting, singing and music teachers for whatever you might like to learn. They offer 8 week sessions for very little money, and also do bring a friend classes a couple times a year. I highly recommend them.
