In terms of academics, the classes were nice and the professors were lovely people, but I would recommend making sure that your chosen major is something that the University specializes in. I chose to go there for theatre, and I found that they were lacking in performance opportunities and resources for the arts in general. The classes were all beginner level, and did not extend beyond basic training. I felt like I was repeating middle/high school level classes. Bucknell is great for math, science, and engineering majors. If you are the type of person that cares about having things to do off campus, Lewisburg is not the place for you. There are very few options for entertainment and trying to shop without having access to a car is very difficult. The nearby towns are just as barren as Lewisburg. You will inevitably get stuck on campus. If you have any kind of food allergies or need for meal plan accommodations, good luck getting dining services to take you seriously. It took me six weeks of fighting the school and getting my parents and healthcare providers involved to convince them to let me eat somewhere other than the main food hall. The staff are not careful about cross-contamination and do not understand allergies at all. The social life on campus is nearly non-existent. Unless you are in a frat/sorority, it is very difficult to find a social outlet and make friends. I am personally not interested in sororities, but I found myself having to gravitate toward them to have something to do most days. It was incredibly hard to find information about clubs and groups, and the few that I joined were nearly inactive. If you care about diversity and inclusion, Bucknell is not the right university to attend. The majority of the students are white upper-middle class students who come from very rich families and they all look and talk the same. There is a severe gossip culture on campus, and the friends you make will more than likely be quite shallow. It feels like being trapped in middle school and the campus/student population is tiny so there is really nowhere to escape if you get caught in the wrong crowd of people. Most people that I met there had to rely on their academics to stay occupied and otherwise felt miserable because of the lack of on and off campus activities. Even if you do find activities that suit you, it is very hard to find nice, trustworthy people. I started there having plenty of friends and only had one when I left due to the disingenuous nature of the student body. If there is anything nice I can say, it is that the campus is beautiful, and you can definitely rely on the professors to have your back if nobody else does. If you know that Bucknell is the place for you, I wouldn't want you to be turned away by my review. My advice is just to make sure that if you do choose to go there, you are prepared for the environment: small town, intense party and frat/sorority culture, a very focused area of expertise, and a real and somewhat concerning lack of diversity and inclusion.

I was persuaded to come here by the opportunity to be a 4 year athlete, graduate with a B.S. from the business school, and simultaneously pursue a 2 year (4+1) MBA - a great value. However, beginning freshman year until today, as a 5th year MBA student, I've had problems with professors doing the minimum to get by, failing to engage the class for 6-7 weeks at a time, and lack of accessibility to effective advising and registration. After switching advisers several times (several of my friends have also had to do this for similar reasons), and following all given instructions, I am now being told that graduating from the 4+1 program on time is impossible - the very reason I came here in the first place. Save yourself from having to jump through hoops just to get people to do their jobs and deliver what was promised to you before paying to be dragged through an ineffective system that is dishonest to its students. Despite my willingness to do whatever it takes to ensure successful completion of the curriculum, career academics and bureaucracy have made it impossible to do so. NOBODY has taken responsibility for the situation over the course of 5 years. NOBODY has been able to actually take action to ensure the promised outcome, and provide the value for which I was sold on the school. People will talk to you, pretend to do something, kick the can a little further down the road, and get nothing done - except wasting your time. As of yet, they have not even addressed the fact that it is near impossible to graduate the 4+1 MBA in the 2 years they heavily market on. Seems like it might be false advertising to me. DO NOT COME HERE; you will NOT get what you pay for.

If you go to King's, choose a major in computer science, nursing, or physician's assistant. Otherwise, you may end up like me. King's admission rate is 77%, and the national average is 65%. According to PrepScholar, "[w]ith a GPA of 3.38, King's College accepts below-average students." I found that to be the case, as most students seemed not to care about the classes or much else for that matter. The career planning office is a joke. They had interviews for used car sales jobs. Need I say more? If you don't major in something that is medically or computer science related, your degree will likely be worth nothing from here. I was doing well in life until I got the King's. I was a loyal student and supported my school. They didn't support me. They ruined my life by giving me a costly degree that had and has no value.

I attended Greater Nanticoke Area school district from kindergarden until high school graduation,…read morebut there was a period of time during my early teenage years when I was home schooled. I'd been suffering from headaches for years. My family doctor, quite understandably, was convinced they were stress related. In school I was an overachiever; grades were more important to me than anything. I remember kicking out a window in anger after I received my first B+ on a test. I had also given myself painful stomachaches. I remember being tested for ulcers at an early age and downing Pepto-Bismol like it was milk. My desire to succeed, and overshadow my fellow classmates, was causing me physical and social strain. I had few friends my own age and was always more comfortable around adults. I tried to make friends with my teachers and I saw them as equals instead of authority figures. I passed out in science class one day during the sixth grade. As I approached the teacher's desk, preparing to hand in an assignment, my face felt flush and I fell to the floor like dead weight. I must have only been unconscious for a moment or two, but it was enough for my parents to schedule me an appointment with a specialist. I was diagnosed with a cerebellum tumor in August of 1998 and underwent brain surgery soon thereafter. I had been out of school for several months. I neglected my studies, spending all my time recuperating and in physical therapy. Besides, I now fatigued very easily and would never make it through an entire school day--or even a modified half schedule. Eventually, I would restart my classes. Greater Nanticoke Area would arrange for a teacher to come to my house for several hours, three times a week. I was referred to as a "homebound student." It was already midway through the school year when I began my home schooling, and I was afraid of being held back a grade. However, because I previously excelled in my academia, I was able to pick up right where I left off. Most of my work was done on the computer as I still had trouble writing longhand. I was able to juggle my studies and therapy, and maintained a high grade average. Still, there were times I would get overwhelmed by my workload. I would act out, and get either very angry or emotional. During the day, my homebound teacher, Mrs. Zaborney, taught students who were mentally incapacitated and developmentally challenged. As such, she was patient and understood my limitations. Mrs. Zaborney would give me lessons in every subject for the next several years that followed. Fortunately, I was fully recovered by the beginning of senior year and able to attend graduation ceremony with my fellow students.
