This review is written on behalf of my bf, who got his hair cut at Mary's Barber Shop:
3.5 stars: The hair cut deserves 4 stars, but because she made me bleed, 1/2 a star off.
HAIR CUT: The woman who cuts your hair is good. She's a friendly, elderly Japanese lady who is sweet and meticulous. I got a fade.
SHAVE: She'll use a razor and shave your hairline. It's a very traditional, old school way of refining and defining your hair cut. It was really good, but I think I started bleeding a little bit. It was not a big deal at all because she had a very steady hand and was very patient and a complete pro. She'll put medicine on any parts that may have a drop of blood or two.
There was one customer in front of me, but I didn't have to wait long. There are two other barber shops nearby, each charge around $20-25.
GF's Two Cents: I know this is off topic, but if you're going here, go next door to eat at Helena's afterwards! The pork ribs are unparalleled. I don't know how they do it, but I love them more than I like the Korean BBQ spare ribs in LA/SF.
