Shelly and the team at Masonry exceeded every expectation we had for our wedding catering. When…read moreplanning the wedding, we were very stressed by the cost of everything. Shelly offered to call me and talk things through, offering creative ways for us to be able to save on spending; paying in cash to reduce card fees, reducing staff by using disposable plates, moving to one protein, etc. We didn't end up needing to do most of these things, but regardless, she indicated she was on our team and would do whatever she could to help us. She was beyond patient with me and kind the whole way through as I went back and forth on what to do. I had endless questions for weeks before booking. On wedding day, everything went off without a hitch. Her team showed up in professional attire, were kind, respectful, and prompt. They were so sweet and kept telling us how beautiful everything was and how grateful they were to be there. The food was SO GOOD. So good in fact we put the leftover scalloped potatoes, prime rib, and artichoke chicken straight in the freezer on wedding night and are just about to run out. It is still just as good now reheated in the oven! And the desserts went QUICK. If I could change anything, I would have ordered extra. We have too many sweet lovers in the family!

Food is just as good as when they were in Yelm. They have a few of their yummy desserts but still waiting on the military's approval to make and sell there famous sourdough bread rounds. Service was great and the facility is really nice. It's open to the public. There is plenty of seating, a fireplace, roll up doors for the summer with outdoor seating and even a golf simulator.

Been here three times now. Each time I have been quite impressed and left full…read more I did the Tour of Italy twice and was amazed. Their pesto is amazing, and their chicken parmesan is very flavorful and not overcooked. The fettuccine alfredo is amazing as well. The last time I went I got just the northern Chicken Parmesan and loved it. It comes with spaghetti so it's a more complete meal. The place is always busy and so it can be loud. They service is usually good, doing the best they can. Desert I've tried their tiramisu (loved it!) and got spumoni last time from a local creamery. The only downside is parking can be a nightmare. They don't have many spaces so you might have to walk a bit to get there, but it is well worth it.

Right away there was confusion at check-in--they called for a party of 9 with no name, and the host was rude when we responded using the first name instead of the last. After being seated, it took about 10 minutes just to get drinks, and then another 30 minutes before our server took our food order. During that time, we weren't asked about appetizers or offered any drink refills. About an hour later, the server came back and told us the kitchen was backed up and they were "just now making our food," which honestly felt like our order may have been forgotten. At that point, all of our drinks were empty and I had to ask for refills. While we were still waiting, another server came to the table asking how one of our steaks was cooked, which added to the confusion. Our food finally arrived after about an hour and a half. Unfortunately, the issues didn't stop there: My spaghetti and meatballs was incorrect, but I kept it since I didn't want to wait again with a toddler. My sister's husband's meal was never even put in--the server admitted this. My sister's fish and chips came out cold. No one checked back to see how the food was. Drinks were left empty again with no refills offered. We were never asked about dessert. Plates were never cleared, even after I stacked empties at the end of the table to help. Every time we needed something, we had to flag someone down. To make matters worse, the checks came out incorrect with items swapped between them. I've worked as a server/bartender for four years, and my niece is also a server, so we completely understand how busy and stressful things can get. But this experience missed the mark on multiple levels. Even when things go wrong, basic service--like keeping drinks filled and checking on guests--should still be happening. This was easily the worst restaurant experience I've had. It was especially disappointing because we're an easy group and typically tip very well. Unfortunately, we will not be returning.

City Picnics

City Picnics

Absolutely would not recommend for catering…read more The biggest issue I had with city picnics was that ten of our vegetarian sandwiches had ham in them. Not only that, but when I called staff the next day that our office was open (which was delayed by a weekend and a snow day), they raised their voices at me and explained how I was wrong and how it is impossible for them to have meat in their veggie sandwiches. Well obviously not since that's what we had.. and without a doubt this was the most unprofessional experience I have ever had with any business. If you follow my reviews, you know I am a fair person who has only once ever given a business a one star review. I don't do this lightly because I know that my review can have an impact on a business. But I've been in event planning for several years and have never had a worse experience than with City Picnics. We had a few communication hiccups, but nothing I haven't experienced before - catering is a hectic business and delivery to the Capitol Campus can complicate things even more. Completely understandable and not a big deal. They offered basic sandwiches with chips got a great price, and we were excited about not having to give an arm and a leg to provide lunch for our group. The biggest issue I had was, again, that ten of our vegetarian sandwiches had ham in them and instead of owning up to their mistake and apologizing (or at least lying about being sorry..) they argued with me, raised their voices, talked over me, and were extremely rude. When making sandwiches for upwards of 130 people, mistakes can happen. We're all human. I tried to explain that yes, it did happen, it's a pretty big deal that they should know happened, and that they should look into HOW it happened so that no other groups need to go through what we did with frustrated guests. I'm not sure why they think someone would lie about this for ten sandwiches.. but maybe they didn't hear me since they were pretty busy talking over me. I was looking for an apology and "we apologize" or "we're so sorry that happened" wasn't said one time. Instead they insisted on arguing with me repeatedly for a mistake they say is impossible but clearly happened - there were 100 witnesses at lunch. I wasn't asking for a comp of those sandwiches but after that argue fest and their unprofessional handling of my order I jumped to accept when they offered it for the 10 mislabeled ones. They won't be receiving my support again, and I'll be sure to pass along the message to colleagues who do large events on the capitol campus annually. Save yourself the trouble and spend a few extra dollars per person for professional service elsewhere.

We had City Picnics cater a class reunion picnic for 90 people. We could not be happier with the…read moreservice, food quality and how genuinely nice they were to deal with. They were incredibly efficient - everything was set up and ready to go at 1:00 pm, just as we had requested. We got the whole crowd through the line promptly. The food was excellent. True, it would be hard to screw up burgers, hot dogs and chicken on the grill, but the real test was the potato salad, which was wonderful. Everything was fresh, tasty, and clean. They stuck around and helped us clean up after we ate. The price was more than fair, a great value. The remarkable thing is that this was a crowd of crabby old people who complain about everything. But we had no negative comments about the food or service. Thanks to Holly and her co-worker (whose name I didn't get, unfortunately) for a really nice meal.
