It was an extremely poor doctor-patient interaction. That same doctor later resigned. When my son needed a prescription refill only three months later, we were told he had to come back and establish care with a brand-new provider--even though he was away at college. This turned into multiple back-and-forth calls until I escalated the issue and someone finally helped. On 1/28 my daughter had a scheduled appointment, and due to my work call running over we arrived 16 minutes late. We were told to wait while the receptionist checked with the provider. After waiting 15-20 minutes, we were told the provider refused to see us. The interaction was passive-aggressive, dismissive, and no attempt was made to reschedule or assist in any way. Policies are one thing, but courtesy, communication, and basic patient support were completely lacking. Very poor office management overall.

Also, she prescribed a medication that is not covered under his insurance, and inquired on which pharmacy he prefers although this was listed in his patient information and given during his appointment bookings. She never reviewed his medical history with him or the pertinent information in his medical records. Lesson learned for my son to advocate for himself when he is being treated with a complete lack of medical care.

He said that she was very thorough and professional. At his request, she removed many growths on his back that were not cancerous, but had grown larger & darker over the years. Now he's developed more, so he's returning to her. This time I'm going also since I've never had a dermatological exam. Finally on the day on my operation to remove my keloids (two separate appointment$$$$), she didn't even know which ear the operation was supposed to be done on. I was very nervous about visiting a doctor's office during the COVID-19 pandemic. The doctors and…read morestaff at Dermatology Consultants of Northern Jersey made me feel very comfortable in the waiting room and examination room by spacing out patients' appointments, sending the new patient intake forms to me to complete prior to my arrival at the office, removing seating from the small waiting room, maintaining a clean environment, and ensuring patients and staff wear adequate personal protective equipment while in the office. Dr. Popkin called me in to see him within a few minutes of my on-time arrival and spent plenty of time with me to evaluate the specific reason for my visit and to perform a thorough exam for other skin issues. After the exam, he explained my options for treatment, answered any questions I had about the treatment, painlessly removed the item in question, and called with the results of the biopsy when he said he would. I will definitely return to Dr. Popkin for any future dermatology issues.
