Our shared 1000 ft. driveway had a 50-ft 40-yr old asphalt apron that had crumbled to bits, and the rest was basically unmaintained for most of the past 10 yrs. we bought our house in late 2016, and have invested in remodeling it from the inside out. But the driveway was a hazard and an embarrassment. After receiving a flyer in the mail from Marvel, and getting the neighbors on board, Richard's crew was on site within a week. The crew was conscientious and they scheduled the work around everyone's constraints. Two days and we had a safe, smooth new asphalt apron. Three weeks later, we decided to call Marvel back for two gravel run-in shed foundations and a refreshed gravel driveway to our granny unit. Marvel made a crew available 4 days later for the job - rough grading, delivering gravel, wetting, and compacting with a roller. It looks beautiful compared to our wheel-barrow laid gravel refresh from 2018. Then the my installed two gravel pads for future run-in sheds in our pastures. Beware of this company! To preface this review, the HOA that I work for hired Marvel Paving & Grading to resurface the airport runway in our small rural community. When I say that this is the most rude and disrespectful company I've ever had the displeasure of working with, it's a vast understatement. , Richard, the owner, was unbelievably rude and condescending when complaints were made about the quality of the work done on the runway. Within a week of resurfacing, weeds were already peeking through cracks and rain was puddled in the middle of what was supposed to be a perfectly level runway. Marvel left large piles of gravel, and did not do a sweep of the sides of the runway which is obviously dangerous as rocks and airplane tires are a terrible combination. Marvel attempted to blame their subpar work on the runway itself, making excuses when in reality they should have known the proper way to do the work with whatever situation was given to them. Large trucks and equipment were driven along the sides of the runway, causing ruts and indentations large enough to stand in. Not to mention that instead of fixing the previously uncentered numbers in the middle of the runway, they just repainted them uncentered. The real cherry on the top was when they attempted to bully our HOA into signing a release of liability, by offering to fix their mistakes free of charge. When they still didn't complete the work, Richard went to the home of a board director after hours and attempted to strong arm him into giving him the ROI. The final nail in the coffin was Marvel rented a sweeper, and when it broke down they parked it on our property and never had it removed themselves. Needless to say, our HOA will never do business with a company like this and I strongly suggest you look for your paving needs elsewhere. read more
