Terrible experience leaving the school…read more My two boys were selected for the their scholarship program, which provided 3 months of lower tuition. After some consideration, we ultimately decided to part ways after the scholarship concluded. Everything seemed fine until it came time to collect my children's belongings. Prior to starting school, the administration asks for 5-7 full outfit sets per child, depending on the class and if your child is undergoing potty training, in addition to other items like blankets, towels, etc The first bag of belongings the school gathered for me only contained blankets. Keep in mind, I had two kids attend this school. I wasn't given any heads-up about the lack of clothing and failed to check the bag until I got home as I genuinely trusted the staff to do their due diligence and collect everything. So I called to inquire about the other clothing and it took about 3-4 follow-ups until I was finally told to come pick up the clothing. However, this second bag did not include a single t-shirt or pair of socks. I was told they would search for those items and that I would get an update the following week, but never received a call. When I would call, the faculty would pass me off to each other, each assuring me they were working on finding the remaining clothes and apologizing for not getting back to me. It was obvious they wanted me to just forget about it. They mentioned searching through the laundry room, multiple classrooms, and other rooms. How all those t shirts and socks just disappear is beyond me. Not to mention, my son's favorite Bluey towel and a very nice North Face jacket. After waiting another week, I emailed the director, Lily Hernandez, to express my frustration over the situation. She's always been quick to email back so I was sure she'd offer a resolution. Wrong! She completely ignored me - not a peep. I waited and sent another email but still received nothing. I called and asked for her a few times but was always told she wasn't there. That being said, I've never experienced this level of unprofessionalism, particularly from the director of an educational institution. It was clear she couldn't care less about losing my kids' clothing now that I'm not paying the school. I'm still shocked by the lack of accountability, and this unfortunately highlights the sad state of today's educational climate, where any random, unqualified person can apparently wiggle their way up the administrative ladder without any genuine values or integrity, and end up running a school. Even if it's just a pre-school, we deserve better.

One thing they do well is using the Brightwheel app. They send updates and photos throughout the day, which I appreciated as a parent. Unfortunately, my son did not seem very happy there. At every drop-off and pick-up he would cry and scream, which is not typical for him. He has been in daycare since he was 6 weeks old and is usually a very happy baby. I initially thought he just needed time to adjust, but it continued every single day. I personally found the strict closed-door policy difficult. Parents are not allowed to walk their children to the classroom or see inside the facility. As a parent, it felt uncomfortable not being able to see the environment where my child was spending 8 hours a day. I also feel this made transitions harder for my son. Another concern was with meals. Meals are included in the price, but the daily menu was not clearly communicated. The Brightwheel app would simply say that my son "ate all food," but it did not specify what he actually ate that day. His nap schedule was also adjusted to fit the group schedule. My son naturally gets tired around 10:30 a.m. because he wakes up at 5 a.m. each day. However, naps were pushed to 12 p.m. so all the children could sleep at the same time. Often he would fall asleep earlier from exhaustion, be woken up for lunch, and then put back down later. When I picked him up, he frequently seemed very tired and fussy. Toward the end of his time there, my son became very sick after daycare one day. Shortly after picking him up, he began vomiting and developed a high fever, which later turned out to be a viral infection and stomach bug. When I picked him up that day he already didn't look well, but no staff mentioned that he seemed sick during the day. I had to ask what he had eaten because whatever he had seemed to upset his stomach. He ended up missing three days of daycare because of it. With my son being unhappy at drop-off and pick-up, getting sick, and the center's hours not working well with my schedule, I ultimately had to withdraw him on short notice. I do appreciate the staff and believe they do their best to care for the children. I wish the experience had worked out better for us. My son now attends a different daycare that allows parents to walk children into the classroom, and he hasn't cried once at drop-off or pick-up--even on the first day. We both feel much more at ease.

It felt unwelcoming and unprofessional from the start, but I tried to give it a chance. What I can't ignore is how they handled incidents with my child. I was asked to sign an incident report about my son hitting his lip a WEEK after it supposedly happened. Then this past Monday, another child BIT my son hard enough to leave a mark on his shoulder--and I wasn't told until Wednesday. No call the day it happened, no heads up--just delayed paperwork like it's no big deal. That is NOT okay. If something happens to my child, I expect to be told immediately. The fact that they didn't communicate that in real time is a huge red flag. Then they want to be strict about their policies when it benefits them. They called me to pick my son up at 9:30am saying he threw up, but gave me ZERO clear instructions about a 24-hour policy. The very next morning (Friday), I bring him in completely fine, he had absolutely no symptoms and had not thrown up at all since I picked him up the previous morning, and suddenly I'm being turned away at the door with attitude about "24 hours symptom free." Don't pick and choose when to follow policy. On top of that, my son has barely even been able to attend because he's been sick constantly since starting--including the flu and hand, foot, and mouth--and they still expect full payment AND a two-week notice after everything that's happened. Absolutely not. The lack of communication, delayed incident reporting, and rude front office staff made this an easy decision for me. Do better. Side note: the actual teachers in the classrooms have been great. This review is strictly about management and front desk staff, because that's where the issues are.

I also had requested a different way of checking his temperature instead of directly on his forehead (although it may have seemed odd, they obliged kindly). I love that they celebrate holidays.
